You can see perfection from here – Have had a Roadstar for 20 years a d never thought about selling her...until I got a Roadliner. GREAT engine..Just a perfect motorcycle in my opinion.over 3 dozen road bikes. If you ride one you'll buy one. Show details
2006 Model, Love it – Brought the bike about 4 months ago from MCA at Keilor park, I hadn't ridden in over 10 years, it had the apes when I brought it, love the bike love the bars, only complaint it very hard to find parts, on the hunt for some nice bags, a heal toe shifter, rear solo seat rack. So happy with the bike. I have fitted 2 1/2 inch Road burner pipes,… Read more
removed the ex-up valve and the pillion seat etc... toying with a few ideas one where I want it to be when I am finished with it, bagger x bobber is sort of where I am going.
The greatest motorbike I've ever had the pleasure to ride – I've got Cobra pipes on my 2015 Yamaha Roadliner XV1900A , had the tank airbrushed with the original members of KISS. This bike is great in all weathers with the right tyres on the , I have dunlop ellites tyres on my bike. I will never get rid of this really great motorbike, she performs like no other bike I have ever owned in my life time , the… Read more
most reliable bike owned ( touch wood ) never broken down where my friends who owns Harley's and Triumph's and other top brands , have broken down and some are younger bike's than my ones.
Yamaha XV 1900 Roadliner is a WINNER – I have owned a 2007 Yamaha XV 1900 (Roadliner) now for over 7 years. I used to finance Harley's, Victory's and Triumphs as well as a plethora of other new and used bikes, so I have test ridden a lot of cruisers. Of all the bikes I have ever owned this is by far the best handling Cruiser I have ridden. The power is superb, doesn't bottom out like… Read more
the Harley's and Victories I rode, the pick up is insane (even insaner with a power commander) and the stopping power is awesome. If I had to complain about one thing, it would be the air filter which is situated under the petrol tank. Other than that, I only wish Yamaha would bring the Raider out to both Australia and New Zealand as this bike has the 'Chopper' look and would be awesome to try (same engine but thinner belt drive) and bigger rear tire. (excuse the spelling of some of the words, it had to be in US format) Don't take my word for it, go ride your favorite Harley, Victory, Triumph etc... then ride one of these, you will not be disappointed.
What a great bike! – In Australia they had to have narrow handlebars for the 2008 model. I imported original yamaha "touring bars" from the US and am much happier. I also added crash bars. I bought the bike in Brisbane and rode it down to Melbourne and I've now clocked up about 6000km on it. It doesn't even need an oil top up yet. It's coming up for its 20,000km… Read more
service soon which should cost me about $250 for parts and take about 4 hours to do myself. I check it over every 5000km but only need to do a service at 20,000km intervals.
I've left the original mufflers on - to me it sounds like a bmw boxer engine. To others they say a bit like a v8. I adjusted the rear suspension to suit me. The front end is a bit harsh on small bumps. My seat is a bit hard. The pillion seat is like a rock.
It's reliable, looks good and is fun to ride on short or long trips. I prefer cruising at 80-90kmh.
(+) looks, sound, power, torque
(-) front suspension, hard seats
Awsome – Wind, rain hail or shine this machine will get you there in comfort and style. Unbelievably awesome!!! I've ridden bikes since I was ten. I've had many but my 2008 Roadliner is the best I've ever ridden. Low down center point of gravity, excellent suspension, handles awesome. My first ride was Adelaide to Melbourne. It didn't miss a beat. It has… Read more
been fitted with a mustang seat and a few other luxuries. Beautiful ride, awesome bike. Best bike to have ever owned. Edit: I fitted a remapping device to my bike. It runs so much smoother and is wsy more responsive. Great in slow traffic as it has taken that jerkishness out of slow take off.
Pefection has been achieved – Been riding bikes for many years after riding Honda and Suzuki and many others test rides finally settled on Yamaha Roadliner XV1900A WOW what awesome takeoff power to boot and such a pleasure to ride. riding is easy as no worries being a heavy bike it has smoothness, and power and low end torque the heel changer is a little difficult at first but you get use to it and then becomes second nature. Could not think of riding anything else now!!! Show details
Best Bike I ever owned – it's like ridding on a cloud. On the open road is stable even in the middle of a nasty storm. I did Canberra - Melbourne in a nasty storm with winds of of 80 Kms plus. Passing truck and cars at 110 (always respect speed limits :)) feeling I was safe and stable. The Bike is reliable with no mechanical issues. I will be happy to recommend it to anyone with a wild spirit. Show details
Roadstar is much better – Very liitle difference in power . Loses the v-twin feel and front end is really ugly . Headlight looks god awful ,,,, sorry ,,, but true . The front end looks sissyfied . Tires wear out fast front and rear and a pain to find the rear tire . As stated the air filter is a brutal pain ..... Why in the world they … Read more
stuck it under the tank ??? < this along makes the peolple who located this air filter a group of idiots ! Also may the "force" be with you if you ever leave a tank of bad gas for long as the >>> "maze" <<< of connectors in the fuel lines to the motor is unbelieveable !!! Also the fuel pump is embedded in the lower "gallon" tank and this will ruin it and cost dearly !!!
Just a lot of piss poor enginnering on yamaha's part for sure .
Reqiures premium gas ??? That's a problem they could have easily avoided by tuning but did not care ..... Cause you are footing the cost .
Starting up the engine is your first warning to run like the wind ..... It sounds awful and embarresing .
What yamaha needs to do is just concentrate on their roadstars " which " now has fuel injection put better bags exp / corbin like beetle bags and better seats "hint" mustang like and then leave well enough along !
Roadliner / stratoliners just don't have a bike look and seem oddly styled to put it mildly . My opinion / thanks
Roadliner Rules – I have had the bike now for more then a year, so I guess I am qualified to review it and comment on it. In short, the bike is an absolute pleasure to ride and I can't think of any other cruiser that I would rather have. With 1854cc from 2 pots, it has lots of torque and revving it is not really required. Your sitting on 2500rpm at 100Km/h… Read more
very comfortably all day long. The engine is super smooth as you would expect and very well balanced unlike Harleys etc (took 2014 Street Glide for a test ride and it shakes badly at idle) nothing like that here. I am running it all stock except a K&N filter so I reduce the # of tank removals. Ok. I need to explain this, and I guess here is the list of things that could be improved (every product can be improved)
1.) The air filter is located under the tank which required the removal of the tank. That is obvious a stupid idea since it should be on the side as is usually the case so you can get to it quickly. To avoid having to do that I have installed a long life K&N filter.
2.) There are drain plugs (yes 3 !!) that need to be removed for an oil change ! Again be nice to make it the usual 1
3.) I have fitted the OEM Medium size shield to the bike to reduce wind on me during long rides. The bad is it causes serious buffeting above 80Km/h. Again wind tunnel testing would have been useful and adding a vent + making it electrically adjustable would be necessary improvements. I actually avoid using it these days because of that issue. On the positive, it is very well designed, heavy duty material, quality chrome and the quick release is as good as it can get. Can also be locked so no one can quickly steal it while you are wetting the whistle in the pub.
4.) Stock seat is no good. Bought a Mustang seat and that is a big improvement. Again there is no secret to what constitutes a good seat, and why they still sell expensive ($20k) bikes with sh*t seats is beyond me.
As I said there are always thing that can be improved and my Roadliner is the first year model (2006) so I am not sure how much improvement has been done to the latest 2014 model but on my model it could uses a few improvements as follows:
* Cruise Control ( I am using BreakAway throttle lock and its better then noting but its no cruise control)
* Gear Indicator (be nice to see what gear your in)
* 6th Gear. You really find yourself always wanting to shift another gear up while your already in 5th. Noticed that other Liner rides find the same issue, so its not just me.
* Self Cancelling turn signals (be nice)
* Sensor switch for manually cancelling the turn signal (its a bit fiddly to turn off, had much better ones)
Despite all of that I am giving this bike 5 stars and love it !
Excellent – Awesome, stunning new design direction that is not a Harley clone, quick and handles very well. This bike is absolutely a keeper! I have a brand new 2008 roadliner (with all the chrome)and after a decade of Vulcans including the VN2000, Honda VTX's and a Royal Star tour deluxe I can say this is an absolutely stunning piece of machinery. The finish… Read more
is awesome. The weight is low down and much easier to manage than the Vulcan 2000 and the power seems much, much more usable than the VN 2000 as it revs out and just goes like a sports bike...I just love it and spend half my time riding it or thinking about riding it! Everything is cool but I did need to adjust the handlebars. My wife would prefer boards rather than pegs...thats it.
Good – heaps of grunt, nice and smooth well done Yamaha great bike. lets start a road liner club. Steve.....Brisbane 2009 everything about the road liner is awesome especially ripping past harleys the seats are to hard, I had some custom seats made for long trips
Best motorcycle I ever had – I have had a roadliner s for over 2 years now and I can say its the best bike I have ever had. Compared to other cruisers, the roadliner feels specially light and easy to ride. I also find it more beautiful than other cruisers in this category, even harley owners look at it and ask, what is it?? It can do up to 270kms with a full tank before the… Read more
reserve. Reliable, fuel efficient, plenty of torque, style, heaps of chrome, exclusivity Yamaha accessories are ridiculously expensive. Some riders find the handlebars uncomfortable, but for my height (188cm) it feels just right.

Know better, choose better.
Love it – i brought the midnight black roadliner 2 months ago. I tested over 12 cruisers, only the triumph thunderbird came close. I have done nearly 10,000 in 2 months, i cant stop riding it. I am 52 come to motorbikes after a 27 year break, this cruiser is the best. I love meeting harleys at traffic lights (not if they had $20,000 spent on them). I… Read more
better stop raving about it, Its nice being so a unique bike.
I love letting it rip at traffic lights, the acceleration and power is awesome.
Excellent – The bike is great.I picked mine up yesterday (19/4/08) in Sydney(Australia) & road home to Newcastle(approx.160km) in the rain with the bride on the back and the biggest concern I had was keeping to 2500rpm max. My '06 1100v-star that I traded in was nowhere as comfortable as this bike, even with an airhawk cusion, the geometry of the 1100 and my… Read more
build didn't work. However the Roadliner is MAGIC,seat is firm but not hard,I had the dealer fit wider bars - great. I love it. Sissy bar for the bride & a windscreen for me and i'm laughing! The package is great. Seen a picture of one and had to have it. I found the heel gear selecter difficult to reach up and use,so i took it off. Put on an exhaust that can be heard(even though the popping borders on excessive & loud).
Talks the Torque. Walks the walk – Low seat height for us shorties, but so light to ride thanks to aluminum frame and swing arm, nice finish with the paint and chromework. Love it. Torquey motor, the look and feel of the ride. My wife says the pillion seat is a bit firm. Show reply
