Yamaha YST-RSW300
4 reviews
Really awesome subwoofer – I have owned quite a few subwoofers in this price range and I always fall back on this one the yst rsw300. It has very nice deep bass and plays loud. I used to have 2 of these and together they were very very good, I could only imagine running 4 of these in the one room in a home theatre set up. Very reliable good subwoofer with lots of bass power. I think it sounds even better with the front cover off it, thankfully it doesn't take much to get the cover off. I would recommend this subwoofer to anyone, I think it has to be my favourite subwoofer of all time.
Are you serious?? – I have read reviews on this subwoofer in the past and those who say this cant produce 250watts rms obviously are not setting up their equipment properly, this is how Yamaha have achieved it, this sub is 270watts dynamic 10% at 100hz harmonic distortion, but with a PWM digital amp powering a long stroke 5ohm driver, its not a normal driver, so this means it works by “clouding” low frequencies through sound pressure levels, producing 250watts rms when placed correctly, it is NOT 130 watt rms as some may say, it sounds really cool, really fluffy bass (do not plce in a corner) I am using a Yamaha RXV485 Coupled with a Yamaha ns555 / nsc444/ ns333 speaker set, I am producing 250watt rms from this subwoofer through sound pressure, ITS LOUD, surprising and without shaking the house to bits doing damage (like alot of other subwoofers do) - it doesn't go down to 20hz, but im reading 23hz on my meter (close enough) and goes very low when tuned correctly. I think this subwoofer is actually better than most of its rivals, seriously I don’t get some of the reviews, i have friends with Klipsch, Wharfdale and even Velodyne subwoofers say my setup sounds better than theirs, let your ears be the judge. I’m not sure if you can get these brand new (great if you can) but if you come across a second hand one DEFINITELY snap it up! -especially if you have a Yamaha set of speakers!
Purchased in at Yamaha Music for $648.
OK subwoofer but this sub is not 270 watts rms – I had this sub for a while and I must say it was OK, however I noticed that it had the tendency to bottom out and when I looked at the manual I was in for a little surprise because the power rating was 270 watts at 10% at 100hz harmonic distortion which is basically the actual power is less than 130 watts rms. It's a bit of a shame really that Yamaha doesn't properly rate the power of their subwoofers. It's definitely not value for money.

Awesome – This sub really kicks ! It has tight bass and everything works very well even after many years of use The sounds is very natural and you do really get that cinema experience Turned up it will really bring the low frequencies out with heaps of grunt to spare Highly recommended ! everything especially controls on the front for volume etc.
