Best bang for your buck – Bought it for just $100 from my local Mitre 10 in Deloraine Tasmania, a few years back. Still going as good as when I first bought it. Has done a lot of work cutting fire wood and cutting some very big rounds. Show details
I can't blow it up! – I cut wood during winter on the farm to sell. Every now and then I get a cheap saw to see how they perform, as the chains for a cheap saw are alot easier to replace given the huge price rise on stihl, husky & top range models being $60 plus for one chain, where a cheap saw you can get 3 chains for that price. Not always quality, but they do the… Read more
same Job.
So, I got this yard force 18inch bar chainsaw on special for $100. It has a 1 year warranty. Realistically, 1 load of wood it cuts, it pays for itself plus money my way.... and if I blow it up in the process, I take it back!
This wood is dense, like so dense my other saws of better brand and worth almost $1000 running tungsten tip chains go blunt and don't have the guts to rip through it. I put the yardforce to the test. It has 51.5hp.... the same as a stihl saw that sells for $2900. The yardforce left everything else for dead. It's ripped through that wood like nothing, I've used it untill it's so red hot, it's burning the wood it's bulling Into, but it just won't stop. It's now my go to saw, it's got guts and cuts so well.
Pros: bar is actually origon, everything in the manual.and photos say so, yet the bar itself has yardforce written on it. Origon parts are a dime.a.dozen, cheaper, and It's easy to swap a bar size if need be. : easy start, it's got good compression, and primer. One pull and away it goes. Priming not needed after 1 hour rest time, just pull again to restart. Easy!
Cons: bit of a heavy unit, but not overly bad (I'm.a 40yo female.and handle it fine). Boots with steelcap won't fit in the handle to hold it down when pullstarting. On off button is a basic toggle switch, located at the back of the unit near the handle. This can be easy to knock, and have the machine stop while cutting. Bar oil refill hole for the resivor is directly under the handle. Can make it hard when pouring in from.a 5ltr bottle.
Review at 4 stars, only because of the basic toggle switch.
Cheap but good – Have cut so much wood with this chainsaw. Lightweight and easy on the arms. Cuts well and very reliable. Sometimes can be hard to start but considering the amount of wood and hours it has done any chainsaw would start to get tired. Just ordered another one as great value for the price. Show details
Buy a good hand saw instead! – Saw runs fine but chain and bar totally useless and refuses to cut. Continually cuts to one side and wears burrs on bar. Has done this from very first cut and redressing bar and sharpening chain will give one or two crooked cuts then chain starts leaning to one side durring the cut again. Show details
Won’t start even brand new – doesn’t get enough spark to start even as new. I have already returned one hoping it was just a fault but was treated poorly by the mitre 10 staff. I’ll be seeking a refund this time Show details
Absolute garbage don't waste your money – This product is dangerous do not buy this, the bar design is bad, it overheats, due to oiler bad design leading to the bar entry point, with the overheating the blade will fail real quick, sharpened multiple times, still failed quick. Bunnings homelite 16inch was also used side by side, ate this chainsaw for breakfast. Don't waste your money pick up a cheap homelite 16inch instead, my homelite is still going great after a lot of iron bark work!! Show details
