Do not buy! causes bad reaction – My dog is highly allergic to rice. I had previously used ziwi peak prior to the company being sold but changed due to the cost. I recently purchased it and within 24hrs my dog was covered in hives and chewing her paws. I was lucky I only feed this to her twice before noticing. My other dog was fine but he refused to eat it after the first time. … Read more
This is cross contaminated with rice for sure because my dog has been allergy tested and rice was her only severe allergy and this only occurs when she consumes rice. I don't believe a thing they say when listing the ingredients.
my dog loves it – ziwi dog food is the only dry food my dog will eat, i have tried other brands but I always go back to ziwi. I only buy it from pet barn Show details
Recipe has changed – We have been buying Ziwi peak for years after our dogs were poisoned by Blackhawk product. Our last couple bags of food have left my dog itching all over constantly (starting in May 2023) and not wanting to eat her food and on and off again diarrhea. We didnt put it together until we stopped using it completely. At first she would just look at… Read more
the food and walk away. I gave the bag to my sister as her dog doesn't have any food sensitivities, and we were assuming our dog just didnt like the flavour anymore... WRONG. We were even planning to taker her to the vet in case she was allergic to something in her environment. It turned out my sister's dog had an even worse reaction to the bag of food and we realised what was happening to our dog - the dog food! We stopped buying/using Ziwi peak immediately and the whole body itching and random diarrhea stopped. I googled to find Ziwipeak has been bought by a Chinese company in 2021, just like Blackhawk had been years ago and my dogs were severely poisoned. I should have put it together sooner. My questions are: Why aren't there regulations for dog food ingredients in Australia? How is fair for consumers to pay a premium price because we care for our pet's health and our dogs end up sick? This is just disgusting. Feel completely duped and looking for another brand...again!
Beware - company bought by China and recipes have changed! – We've been exclusively using Ziwipeak for our 2 poochies for just over 2 years now. It WAS a premium food with the price tag to reflect this. But in April 2023 I noticed the bags changed, the air-dried recipes changed, and now my mind has been changed too. I wasn't aware that a Chinese company bought Ziwipeak in late 2021. I simply don't trust… Read more
them now and I don't believe their PR spin about why they've tinkered with the ingredients. It's obviously a cost-cutting exercise. (Our poochies used to eat Ivory Coat which was also bought by a Chinese company who drastically changed the recipe). We've now moved over to Eureka Pet Co for the high quality ingredients, very positive independent reviews, and to support Australian made and owned.
Delicious and healthy for your poochie – I specialise in animal nutrition and have spent my life looking after animals. I am particularly fond of dogs and am fastidious about their nutritional needs. I have fed dogs Ziwi peak lamb and mackerel and it’s been a real hit. It is the finest pet food money can buy consisting of grass fed lamb, wild mackerel and green mussell. No hormones or… Read more
preservatives just goodness. Enough to make even the fussiest dog salivate. The kibbles are hand crafted, air dried and sealed to preserve freshness. 96% meat, and doesn’t contain fillers like corn or grain (which can irritate some dogs skin) and no glycerine. All the nutrients are naturally occurring and not from artificial vitamins or minerals.
Only downside is how expensive it is. A 1kg bag can cost you $72-80.
Clearly good quality – Dogs love it. You can use it the way you would treats. Reassuring to find a dog food with origins that are sustainable, free range and chemical and hormone free. If you are struggling to find a more ethical dog food than what it available in pet stores, look no further. Sure it’s not cheap, but you are paying for quality. Green lip mussel was… Read more
recommended by my vet to protect against joint pain. This food already contains it and is more economical and convenient than the blackmores green lip mussel supplements.
Ziwi Peak - Amazing training treat or premium dog food – When training out young pup, we went on the hunt for a high value, nutritious treat option that would be better long term than many of the "puppy junk food" on the market. This stuff is simply AMAZING. Tiny pieces of air dried beef, chicken, lamb or fish - perfect size for training, and sooo lucrative our pup immediately started doing almost… Read more
anything for it! Also great alternative for dry food, and we found particularly good if you want them to feel happier about you leaving the house. All up 10/10! Highly recommend.
