ZTE Telstra Lite 2 Z2315T (2020)

Flimsy and harder to use than previous dumb phones – I bought this phone as a 4G replacement for a Telstra Cruise. The Cruise was a solid little phone that did everything required of it. This phone is a big step down. It's slightly larger, so doesn't fit so well in a shirt pocket. The software didn't offer much by way of language options for texting, and the texting set up was more confused.… Read more
Calls would often go straight to message bank, without activating the ring tone at all.
The worst part of this phone, however, was that every time I dropped it, it would break apart, except for the last time where the screen simply went 3/4 blank so that now I can't really use the thing for much more than receiving calls.
Note to manufacturers: Pensioner phones should be built tough. They don't need to be bricks, but they have to be drop resistant to some degree.
Would not buy again – Good: - big battery - big screen - loud ring - unlocked Bad: 1. buttons are locked soon after I finish talk. So instead of calling I have to waste time with unlocking. Very annoying and useless feature. There is (fake) option in settings to disable the lock, but buttons are locked anyway soon I finish the talk. I have no idea why fake option… Read more
exist and what is the purpose of it. Make people confused?
Message managing system is unique, I never saw anything so add: - If someone sent me message I cannot call back, this option does not exist (or very well hidden). I can answer by text, but not by call. Only one solution which I found: grab pen and paper, write down the number, and call back by entering number manually.
- Still cannot find how to delete messages.
- If I try to sent a message, in field "who" I try to enter the phone number, but only letters can be entered. So I cannot sent any "new" messages. I can only answer to people who contacted me my messages in past.
All problems mentioned above could be fixed by hiring new software team (and firing current one without references). As a item the phone has great potential, only sabotage of software "specialists" does not allow the phone to be loved.
Conclusion: never buy again until new software will be created.
Nokia perfected this kind of tech in the 90s! – This is absolutely the worst phone I've ever used. If you like taking 10 minutes to type a text, you're in luck! Thanks to the buttons constantly pressing themselves multiple times, you'll never make sense to your family and friends again! Camera is crap but that's not why you buy a phone like this. Avoid. There are very few dumb phones available… Read more
these days but you couldn't do worse than these. I don't understand how, 30 years later, these phones are not even in the same league as the original 3310!
Fantastic phone for the elderly or if you like this sort of phone – - Ok camera - Easy to use. -Music player -Internet -Able to download apps (if you know where to look) - Changable background. - Nice feel in hand. - Large display. - Great price - Fantastic battery. - Easy to text. Show details
its good for the price – as mentioned, this little T9 is great for what I paid (25 dollars) it can make and receive calls, and that's really all I needed it to do. there's definitely much better Telstra phones out there for around only 100 bucks, but this phone suffices for what i needed it for. basically, if your'e only gonna use it for about a month or so to make calls,… Read more
then go for it. if you need a more reliable, user friendly mobile with a browser, downloadable stuff, etc. then id suggest getting something more high end. four stars, pretty good buy
Acceptable for the price – Been using this phone for a few months. It's pretty simple to use, but as other reviews have mentioned, not much effort has gone into the menus and software. There are worse phones out there for this, but it's nowhere near as good as the original nokia 3310s for example. It's nice and large in the hand, good buttons, and has an easy to read… Read more
screen.
The electrical contacts behind the buttons wear out after a month or so of daily use - the buttons start double pressing and 'ghosting'. The evidence is in my outbox - dozens of texts sent halfway through typing them. I replaced the phone under warranty and the second phone is starting to degrade in the same pattern.
It has really poor reception and drops out on calls, even when it's showing multiple bars of 4G. The earpiece isn't that loud but it's adequate.
As others have said, using basic features like the torch and hotspot requires you to dig through lots of menus - at the same time, the home screen has useless features like FM radio, a crappy music player, and a camera - can't delete or rearrange this at all.
There is the function to 'update phone' in the settings menu - it triggers a spinning wheel of death for about 20 minutes and then fails to find anything.
In general, the phone seems to be struggling for memory, even though I just have contacts on my SIM and some text messages on the phone - haven't even used the camera or stored anything on the memory card. Sometimes opening text messages can have a 2-5 second delay. Coupled with the ghost presses of the keypad, the phone seems to have a mind of its own sometimes.
But this review makes it sound really terrible to use - it's not, and for $24 on special, it's generally pretty okay. And you can do a lot worse in this category of phone. But it seems like a backward step from the dozens of good, basic phones that were in circulation in the past.
Terrible Phone – Bought Telstra Lite 2 phone to replace my small Telstra Flip 2 Phone. Terrible decision, the Lite 2 Phone is not easy to use. It states that it has Bluetooth but that would not connect, worst part was the pre texting was so hard to use, as it was so easy to accidently send an unfinished text. Technicians tried to turn off pre texting but could not… Read more
do it. In one instance i accidentally sent 3 text messages just trying to send a 1 word text and if you are on pre paid it is about 50 cents a text. I quickly returned this Lite 2 phone for a refund and replaced it with a Telstra Flip Phone 3 which is a lot easier to use.
Basic, very basic. Anything useful is hidden so deep that it it not useful – If you want a simple phone to make phone calls, then this is acceptable. Anything more than that, well forget it. Absolutely zero effort has been spent on achieving ease of use. All settings (and I mean every single one) are difficult and non-intuitive. Try and adjust the ring volume, for example. Good luck with that. Click "settings", and the… Read more
first item that you are offered is "Wifi". What!?? This phone cannot do anything with wifi: no browser, no email, no apps that can be downloaded. Absolutely nothing. So why put a Wifi setting on the phone in the first place. And why put it as the first thing you can access. Every design decision is a complete mystery. (Designed to create the most frustrating user experience imaginable I suppose.)
True, it can function as a mobile Wifi hotspot (although that is not mentioned in the user guide. The user guide is evidently written for a different phone). But to turn on the mobile hotspot from the home screen takes 19 clicks! (But 4 clicks for the non-functional “Wifi”)
There is a feeble torch. But (if you can find it) it takes 11 clicks to turn on, and if you happen to go back to the homescreen, then it will take 11 clicks to turn off again.
The icons are not changeable. It is not possible to put the most used functions in a place where they are easiest to access.
I could go on.
But in summary, don’t waste your time or your $30 on this.
