So disappointed! – I replaced an old Austwood with a new one. The fan noise/vibration is unbearable. The fire doesnt burn well, or very hot. It doesnt heat an average livng room well enough on a cold day. Such a waste of money! Show details

Aust wood insert fire heater – This is the most expensive piece of rubbish I’ve ever bought. Fan very noisy despite being replaced. Rattles and hums and does not heat the space it claims to. So disappointed- thanks BBQgalore for the bum steer. Show details

Quite good – It's taken a bit of getting used to, purchased at end of winter last year so if didn't get a decent workout, this year after trial and error, and using a whole lit of timber we were a bit disappointed, but gave it worked out now. You gave to get the fire really going to produce the white hot coals, then switch it over to the low level so it… Read more

doesn't burn as quickly, result us a warm and cozy room, and you only need a coupe of logs all night. Oh lugs have to go in vertically, not horizontal, very important, don't know why, but it works, we don't use the fan, it is too noisy.

Disappointing – This fire place has failed to deliver on all accounts. The steel baffle has fallen down whilst fire is alight on 3 occasions after having a new baffle replaced. Fan is noisy and generally fails to produce the heat we should get from the amount of wood consumed. Ash tends to be sucked out the door when opening. I would not recommend this fireplace.

Very inefficient, heater – The lawson heater consumes tones of fire wood and puts out little heat in return, the fan is noisy . Never buy a heater from BBqs galore pay the extra and get a renowned wood heater brand , it will save you in the long run. We have been disappointed from the get go with our heater. will probably pull it out and go to another brand shortly

Not impressed at all – I replaced the Saxon wood heater with this heater the only better benefit is the fan is slightly quieter. The heat even though this heater is almost double in size doesn't move through the house like before. The wood seems to burn flat out regardless of the flu being open or closed and I have used a weeks wood in 2 days. I wouldn't if I had the… Read more

Better option than an open fireplace – We have had one of these for 10 years. We had the model that didn't have the grills top and bottom where the air for the fan goes in and out. The only things we have had to do to the unit in that time is to replace the cast iron plate inside it. This was $110 so next time I will just get a piece of plate steel cut to the same size. fan can get a bit noisy as the bearings dry out over time. I just had to spray some grease in the bearing areas on mine as the fan stopped. This heater needs to be firmly fitted in place or the fan makes the facia vibrate against the brick fireplace which can be annoying.

These heaters can be pulled apart easily to clean and service. Most of the panels are held on the front with screws.

There are 2 sizes of these heaters so make sure it fits your fireplace Heats up where needed, efficient on wood Replacement cast iron plate and fan are expensive ($200 for fan)
