Poor quality - will not last – ALDI do not sell quality electronic products. All mine have broken after a few years and this TV did as well. It started with a HDMI port failing and then another one until the TV no longer worked. It starts with the Bauhn logo and then nothing. My other TVs are SONY which never fail. The picture quality on this TV was ok however the audio was… Read more
terrible. It was half the price of a SONY, however lasted just over 4 years. I suspect the panel is fine however the quality of the electronic components are sub standard. I will not buy another ALDI TV and have stopped buying their electronic products. Food is great and other general items are fine. Pay a little more and buy a decent TV to avoid sending it to the tip.
DO NOT PURCHASE A BAUHN – Save yourself the pain and money and DO NOT BUY A BAUHN. Absolutely the most shottiest product out there. Purchased a 49’ Tv from Aldi last November which was all fine and Friday just gone the screen has cracked. Nothing we have done or touched it too hard for it to crack. Notified Tempo the company and I am not eligible for a refund as it’s my… Read more
fault somehow? The advise not to move or even clean your tv. Should a TV not be able to be moved and cleaned without the risk of it ‘breaking’ it’s absolutely Ridiculous. Contacting consumer affairs now regarding this as I am not happy at all. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND BUY A DECENT REPUTABLE BRAND. NOT A BAUHN!!!!
Lasted only 6 months – Good picture. Easy to use. Could only fit 1 USB at a time when it has 2 ports. Problem is it only lasted 6 months. It's only $399 but thought it might lasts at lest 3 years. Got a red line going from one side to the other. Bottom 3 to 4 inch was fuzzy rest of the screen was perfect. Show details
Great Value for the Money – We had a Panasonic PLasma tv which we sold for $250 as we were moving at the time and paid $349 for the 4K 49'' inch Bauhn, is this tv as good as a pansonic, sony top notch tv with all the latest wizardry No! but you know what it does exactly what its supposed to do for $349 and that is work and work well, we have flogged it to death watching some… Read more
really decent movies either on blue-ray or through Netflix 4K with the help of apple TV. nothing wrong with Sound when you connect through to a AV receiver all the HD channels output in Dolby Digital and its all good.
and yes we are going to Oled technology next but we have been very happy with our TV because it just Works! well done Bauhn and Aldi
You get what you pay for. Returned – I purchased this tv on a whim soley on the idea that if it wasn’t any good I could return thanks to their 60 day satisfaction guarantee. I tried it out for around 30 days before returning it. Pros: - Price (obviously) - for $399, you can’t find many other UHD TVs for that price. - Menus are responsive and easy to navigate. - Build quality… Read more
and remote layout is okay.
Sadly that’s where the pros end.
Cons:
- Picture looks washed out and over saturated. Skin tones all look like a bad spray tan.
- Lack of picture control to combat the poor colour science.
- UHD 4K playback is only viewable through an external device ie: 4K player.
- Internal USB media player does NOT play 4K media.
- No ‘smart’ apps or streaming services.
Conclusion:
If you are someone who doesn’t want to spend a lot on a 49” TV, and are not picky about picture quality, then this is a perfect option for you. However if you want to invest a couple of hundred $$ more, you can get a tv that is leaps and bounds better than this one.
I returned and purchased a Sony kd49x7000e instead. $900 is a fair bit more, but definitely worth the price.
Bauhn 49" 4K Ultra High Definition LED LCD TV Cost $399.00 – Purchased this TV recently. Has a good picture and easy setup, but the sound is very echoey and as a result poor. I consider that it is the quality of the speakers. I purchased a sound bar as suggested by Bauhn Customer Support to help overcome the problem. I suggest looking at other similar TV's before deciding. Show details
Sound quality poor but for the price happy with everything else – Picture quality good and with the remote easy enough to navigate the menu. The speaker quality or lack of it makes it difficult to follow spoken dialog. I'm looking for a sound bar but one shouldn't have to just to understand the spoken word!. Despite this I consider it reasonable value for the money. Show details
Great TV for the money - Exactly what I wanted – I purchased this TV from ALDI for only $349. I was looking for a something with good picture quality and a decent screen size and this was exactly what I wanted. I didn't need "Smart" features, and this doesn't have any, which was fine for me as I was going to connect it to my PC. For a 49" 4K60fps TV I don't think you will be able to find a… Read more
better price anywhere.
Pros:
-Great picture quality
-Responsive remote and menu screens
-Easy to set up and use
Cons:
-Sound isn't that great, highly recommend using speakers/headphones
Ultimately, if you need a TV primarily for a good display without "smart" features, especially if to be connected to a computer, this will do the job perfectly.
Buggy, glitchy tv with good specification on box, but poor performance in real life – This Aldi Tv promises a lot, but doesnt deliver it. The main problem is with the menu performance. When pausing live tv, it frequently causes glitches. The tv sometimes freezes, sometimes the volume cannot be adjusted, sometimes it just starts playing by itself from pause, and other times you cannot fast forward or rewind. Other times it works… Read more
fine but requires multiple button presses on the remote control to get any response from the tv, even though the tv is getting the signal as shown by the blue light in the right lower corner of tv flashing.
The second problem was that the other day while running the ARC function to my $1,000+ Panasonic sound system, the tv sent some crazy static noises through the system at full volume and woke up my sleeping children from 4 rooms away at the other end of the house. It sounded like the Emperor on Star Wars shooting electricity. And it couldn't be stopped by the remote. The tv wouldnt even turn off. I had to drop my dinner and dive in behind the tv to the power outlet and flick it off at the wall. This at 11pm. Unreal. The neighbour's lights came on accross the street as the subwoofer was shaking the foundations of my double brick house.
The third problem is with the picture being very washed out. Kind of like some old kids toy that has been left out in the sun too long. This tv replaced my Panasonic Plasma 3D 50 inch from 2010, and I thought the Bauhna would be much better than the old tv given 8 years of technology advancement. How wrong was I. In fact, the Panasonic from 2010 is light years ahead in every way. It turns on in mere seconds (Bauhn takes 45+ seconds to turn on), Panasonic has far better colour and darkness (Bauhn is grey darkness and faded colours), the menu system and remote are a pleasure to use on Panasonic (Bauhn plain sucks taking 5 minutes to fast forward 1 hour to the next recorded show). Bauhn doesn't even have a better picture even though its 4K, it looks much worse than the 1080 Panasonic. The Bauhn does use much less electricity (about 100 Watts compared to 250-300 Watts for the Panasonic Plasma).
To say i am disappointed would be an understatement. Bauhn a plain ordinary tv and it will be going back to Aldi once I stop shaking my head at just how ordinary it actually is. I bought 2 of these tvs and the second one is still in the box. I will not even unpack it.
In short, dont waste your money ($399) on this tv if you expect anything resembling performance. Its fine for perhaps a kids room for watching cartoons or playing computer games. But its not a good tv for adults who expect menu system to function as described in operator's manual. The money I saved is long forgotten, but the frustration is ever present. I now watch the 32 inch teac i have in another room in preference to this new Bauhn.
