clear to two reps that a Subaru Forester sized vehicle would be needed due to height, joints and age considerations. Pointed out that the mid sized SUV's are not suitable for me. Assured that the Debra group would be advised accordingly and 'get onto it'. Took car to crash repairer yesterday and couldn't fit in the car Compass had provided for me. Mid size SUV! I kept my vehicle for the day and took it in this morning and now have an Outlander. Big enough for sure. So repairs are delayed by a day. The company had a month to make sure that I could be accomodated, yet sent me the type of vehicle that I advised would be of no use to me. What didn't the reps understand? The repairers were sorry for the inconvenience caused but what else could they say. I believe they and I have been let down. Ray

They say it is a free of charge service for not at fault party but they ask to sign an agreement that says the person that use the car must pay for it if we can't recover the cost from the at fault party. information. I said Ok then write it there so I know that you will not charge me. They said no we can't, you need to sign it as it is. I do not trust someone who is not happy to write what they say. It is what scammers do. Stay away from them. There are plenty of companies out there that provide the same service. Update: I should add this part to make it more clear. As far as I know and everyone expect, when someone apply for this sort of hire car service, the service provider should check the request and only approve it IF they know that they can recover the rental cost from the at fault party (or their insurance). Once they did their homework and approved the request they are responsible to recover money from third party and applicant should not be worried if they can do their job or not. Asking the applicant to sign an agreement which say applicant will pay the rental cost IF service provider is not able to recover this cost from third party is not acceptable. In a simple word if a company is not sure that is capable of doing his job then it should not be trusted. I did not trust them and didn't use their service. They had sent me this agreement to sign at the last day so I didn't have time to apply for another car somewhere else and it caused issues for me but I was OK with leaving them a negative review and let it go until today that they contacted me and here is part of their message:

You can’t claim the service we offer is a scam, if you simply do not understand how “credit hire” works. Again, thank you for the feedback, even if it is slanderous , as it is 100% false information and just a lack of your understanding of the process.

I don't want to spend more time explaining to them that is wrong with them. So I will leave it with you to judge if their service is a scam or not. When they approve an application and provide the service but not capable of recovering the cost from third party they should loose money because they are not capable of doing their job. The applicant should not be worried about the cost

received an email from Compass telling me they were having trouble getting the other insurance to pay. I felt deceived and took the attitude that it was not my problem but today I got a second email telling me that the other insurance company had paid and ‘my liability was extinguished’. What a big surprise….. the car was not free and the cost was not covered by the other insurance before I used the car. In fact I was underwriting the Compass legal process of exacting payment from the other insurance all the way through. I can only assume that I would be the focus of legal action for payment if the other insurance company finally refused to pay. It feels like a very slippery arrangement and I regret being involved.

someone hit behind my wife's car when she was driving. Obviously we needed another car to run around during the repair time, I said yes, if that is not going to cost me, which to the agent said yes (later on I found it was an incentive program, where people can refer to compass and get paid!).

So, we got the car on time, and I must agree to the others who say about excess. Mine was $3000+ as well, but fair if I made a damage to the hire car, even though would be more practical if I had a way to waive off that through another insurance, coz I don't deliberately damage anything.

One funny thing happened was that the calling person and the delivery person said I don't need to clean the car, but the email said I had to and if not I'll be charged a $150 for cleaning. So there was a communication gap there.

Then again, I got the car delivered to my door (and picked up from home as well) on time. It was a nice car (suv). Drove smooth and was able to keep up with the life's demands during those few weeks.

I kept up-to-date all the time on the repair progress as Compass asked me to.

After the car was returned, someone emailed me asking for the insurance remittance details etc. Quite personal stuff. I felt sus. Since it was about a few weeks after, I couldn't even find those docs on time. I referred back to the original conversations and reports I made over the phone and that was that. I wasn't bothered. No charges on my card either.

So, in overall, I think they're doing a good job. The quality of the service and the car is commendable. I would definitely recommend to those who may in need of an urgent replacement car.

yearly review, I asked to give me a confirmation that all rental car payments are liable by faulted driver or his insurance company, in any situation I am not or my insurance company is not liable for any payments. They agreed on phone and send me agreement in that, they mentioned I am liable for all kind of rental payments by nominated credit card, they also asked my credit car details. I could not understand, if the faulted driver’s insurance company is liable to pay then why they are asking all credit card details. I am okay to give credit card details but in agreement, they mentioned i am liable to pay. After carefully reading agreement, i halt my mind to hire a car from compass car hire. Also hire rates are also very expensive just like 3 time than what I pay for my business trips.

me, as I was not at fault my cost would be fuel only. I had a no excess car hire and the other driver's insurance company would be liable for the car hire costs for as long as the repairs/assessment of my vehicle took. One hour later I drove away in a MG, a little small for me but at least I was mobile. Four days later the MG was change to a Triton which suited me better. It has been 30 days and my insurance company hasn't informed as to the are doing with my car, admittedly the recent floods has had them inundated with claims. Thanks to compass I have been able to get on with things. Service from the Slack's Creek [Brisbane] has been excellent so far. Thanks again. David.

A big thank you to Richard and his staff at Compass Car Hire, Kogarah, for all your help. Thanks to MG Australia, who organised a hire vehicle. The service was excellent- no delays, the car was dropped off for me early evening at the car repairer and the car was super clean and the make if my current vehicle which was impressive. Don't Use. Rip off Company – No way using these guys again. They are just in it to rip off your insurance company - and they do that well. Had issues with the type of car they gave told them I didnt want it wasn't going to use it - bottom line didn't change it for another and charged Insurance for the full period at a crazy high rate for a car which was very dated and old. Highly recommended car hire – Great customer service! Even when I made a mistake and have the wrong date for drop off they managed to get me a car within a 12 hour period. only with them, yet we have been harassed, threatened, mislead, flat out lied to and even had them banging on our door to try and get payment. We did not hire a car. The hire car fee's of this poor person in the same car accident as us have reached almost $5000 which is more than the car repairs would have cost... absolutely disgusting that they allowed the debt to get this high before admitting the person hiring the car was not insured for car hire. Don't believe their lies.
