It was easy to complete my tax return with eTax. The process was straightforward, and the system was simple to use. The only difficulty I experienced was accessing my desktop computer, as I was locked out and my receipt was stored there. Apart from that issue, lodging my tax return was quick and hassle-free. Rubbish, they got all my private health insurance wrong even though they claimed it was imported. I tried to reach out and they were adamant it was correct. they said I had no return and had to pay them $85 for the return which they would normally claim out of my return. and providing the proper depreciation schedules and deductions, there were still errors holding up the lodgement. Back and forth messaging via their system is archaic, and for the part that appears to be automated it is annoying and nagging at best (nagging to sign or lodge return, without pending questions being responded to). For the rather large cost of poor management of my tax affairs, I think there is definite room to look for a better system or to just lodge myself. After sticking with them for years, I'm fed up. If you're after a rushed job and poor effort, Etax is good for this. If you want your return done accurately by someone who actually looks at your situation, go elsewhere.

Scammed me out of $3700+ aud when I didnt even live in Australia for 25+ years and moved back after my nasty childhood I had no control over. Thieving folk for sure.

Absolutely disgraceful. I uploaded over $10,000 worth of receipts, including work-related gifts, charitable donations, business contract expenses and other legitimate deductions. documentation in that timeframe. Even more concerning, my refund didn’t change by a single dollar after uploading all of those receipts. So what exactly was reviewed?

E-tax markets itself on maximising your tax return, but this experience suggests the receipts aren’t even being looked at. If that’s the standard of review, it’s nothing more than a box-ticking exercise.

This isn’t just frustrating—it’s concerning. People, especially business owners, pay for professional expertise because they expect someone to identify legitimate deductions and ensure nothing is missed. If my return was supposedly “reviewed” without any consideration of over $10,000 in supporting documents, it makes me seriously question how many thousands of dollars I’ve potentially missed out on over the years by trusting this service.

A quick turnaround means nothing if it’s rushed and inaccurate. I’d rather wait a week for someone to actually do their job than have my tax return rubber-stamped in less than a day.

I’ll be cancelling this return unless someone competent actually reviews it properly. Based on this experience, I won’t be using E-tax again.

Once again I submitted my 2026 tax return through etax accountants, and once again, as in the past several years, they were 100% easy and helpful. Will certainly use their service in 2027. Show reply

I've used ETax before and even though my Tax return is fairly simple, as I'm a pensioner who works 1 day a week to supplement my pension, my refund was much better than I had tried on my own. They communicate quickly and kept me fully advised of the progress. Well worth the fee and having the peace of mind that your return is correct. Show reply

Have been going through E-tax for many years. I don’t have much to claim however where possible, the team find extra monies not claimed that are within my rights (where I wouldn’t know) for an extra return. Needless to say, any return is a bonus. And the review system they use is excellent. Show reply

I used etax for the first time. They were ok at first and saod they will take 10% of my tax return. They ended up taking over 80% off it. Don't use this company!!! They will say they will only take so much but then take alot more. Be carful

I do not recommend etax accountants unless it is a simple tax return, ie. lodging individual income tax return. If you're lodging a more complicated tax return that includes investments, side hustles, all done under sole trader ABN, then steer clear. Absolutely gone down hill Accountants are inconsistent and all have a different story in regards to claims. Your return starts off so high and drop 1000percent by the end due to poor knowledge. Better out there
