many interior features that there are too many to describe and the fixed servicing costs are a piece of mind addition.
Sad to see the locally made Holden go.
A lot better than I expected – The driving is effortless. No 'look at me' but more 'I'll do whatever you ask without fuss' style of motoring. The power is impressive but that's not what drew me in. to the relatively low profile tires.
A couple of nice to have's I unexpectedly found:
1) The sunroof closes automatically when locking the car
2) The left side mirror dips to view the kerb to help avoid kerbing the car when parallel parking
My kids love the DVD player. I love that I don't need to hear it (comes with 2 pair of wireless headphones as standard) so I can listen to my own entertainment or none at all if I choose.
Don't like the suede 'racing' line in the seats but love the rest. Touch points feel nice. The suede / leather / chrome / plastic placement all works well. Lumbar support in passenger front seat is nice to have (as well as driver). The 'exit' feature in the drivers seat is interesting and my wife loves it. She needs the seat up high and very forward but that makes entry and exit of the car more difficult. Pressing the exit button pushes the seat out and low as far as it can making it as easy as possible to slide in/out of the seat.
The HUD (Heads Up Display) gives great info especially when Sat Nav is taking you somewhere. No downward glances needed which is nice.
Variable fan speed for the climate control was kind of odd at first but now I think it's awesome.
Doubt fuel economy will be particularly good (only had the car a short time), but over a Euro box that will be so much more offset than the extra servicing costs. I've got capped pricing for the life of the car. Haven't had one yet but I understand them to be under $300. I couldn't walk away with less than $1000 with my previous Audi A6.....
Overall I'd say I'm pleasantly surprised and I'm really glad I've bought one before they cease manufacture next year as I doubt I'll get the same value for money again.

and Lexis, Honda legend, Subaru liberty. Soda octavia vrs and superb, Holden insignia vxr, Subaru wrx and the list goe son. My wife has a Jeep grand Cherokee and the SUV craze annoyed me, commodores and falcons used to be a common choice but now it's such that are common on our roads.
I found myself eyeing off a 2013 e class with 40k on the click as I decided on luxury motoring. Next to the stunning black e class stood an immaculate 2016 caprice in prussic steel, interested I opened the doorhandles was impressed by what I found, yes a VF commodore interior but way more roomier and finished with black and white suede esque interior, rear DVD player and limousine size room in the rear, I toothed out for a test drive and oh boy, that 315kW was smooth yet sublimely quick, with a refined yet still 'look at me' V8 exhaust note. I was instantly taken aback, how could I have simply disregarded this vehicle because it's a 'holden with a wreath'. I was a victim of ignorance as most Aussies are now, where we have fallen out of love with our two hone grown iconic brands. Shame on us Australia, what a car, what a ride. Well built, powerful and luxurious.
When the dust settles and our home grown are no longer built I think we will come to regret, to get this much luxury and power in 2 years will require a substantial investment in BMWs Ms or amg Mercedes, or a gangster hemi 300, all of which will demand a massive premium over this beautiful vehicle.
For the record, I picked up my 2016 WN series 2 for $48k with 8000km on it, bargain motoring in my opinion, I love it the missus loves it and my son loves the V8 noise and loves watching his films in the back in his own space, great car. Don't be afraid tojump in on the last chance to own the wreath wrapped lion.
I love the window washers – I recently hired a 2015 Holden WN Caprice for ten days whilst on holiday in the Gold Coast. This is a great car to drive. memorable function I liked about the Caprice was the window washers, when the driver pulls the lever to wash the windscreen the water silently floods the windscreen and washes it really well. My personal car is a $150k Porsche Cayenne and even the Germans don't make a window washer as good as the ones in a Caprice. My Cayenne window washers make a whining noise as it jets the water to the centre of the wiper blades and makes the wipers move the water around the windscreen, similar to an old Datsun. Holden seem to have perfected the window washer. The ride in the WN Caprice is smooth and quiet and benefits from the softer FE1 suspension on a straight highway. I did notice a bit of body roll whilst driving through the narrow roads on the way to Nimbin. The front and rear parking sensors with rear-view camera makes parking the low and long Caprice a little easier.
There are a few shortcomings with this vehicle. It has a large 11.6 meter turning circle that makes it difficult to park or to do a U-Turn. Not good enough considering the turning circle of a full size 200 Series Land Cruiser is just a little more at 11.8 meters. The exhaust scrapes and the Park Assist alarm activates when driving down steep underground car parks. The Caprice has a push button start and there is nowhere to keep the key. If you keep the key in your pocket and exit the car whilst the engine is running the car horn will beep causing unwanted attention. I also found the mirrors too small for a vehicle of this size. This is where the lane departure warning and blind spot alert become imperative. I didn't like the light coloured stripes running down the centre of the leather seats. They are not necessary and the seats would have looked better without them. The suede leather inserts on the dash and doors look nice but I reckon they would be difficult to clean. I also found that the doors dent easily from careless people who open up their doors in shopping centre car parks. I found the boot a little difficult to lift comfortably and found myself lifting it from the bottom edge.
All in all I loved the Caprice. If Holden made a Caprice on with the drive height of an SUV and a little more headroom I would go out purchase one tomorrow.

Great family car – So we have now owned the V8 Caprice for 18 months. Travelled about 40,000klm in North Queensland - basically travelled Cairns to Townsville and through the Tablelands. comfortable and power to burn.
There's a slight rattle in the sun roof, but it's going in shortly for a service so we will get that attended to. the navigation unit is pretty useful - we use it a lot and have found it to be accurate and easy to use. Love the sound system.
For the price, a great family car.
I have owned several Statesmans, and now have a Caprice with, for the first time, a V8 engine. This new vehicle is very well equipped and is really quite inexpensive to buy when compared to similar sized European vehicles or other popular family vehicles such as the Prado.
The V8 is smooth, the seats are very comfortable and leg space is massive. Boot space is excellent, in some ways too much.
Styling on the outside is a little dated, but if you are looking a quality, reliable family or work vehicle, the Caprice is a great beast.
Our previous Statesman (WM) has over 200000 klm & is still a reliable car. Our 2001 Statesman was recently sold with over 320000 klm on the clock. They are reliable long term family cars.

but always ready to unlease serious power. Push on a bit overtaking on the highway and numers with two in front come up very quickly. Transmission is a bit slushy but with an engine this good who cares? Second, the ride, brakes and the steering are miles ahead of where Holdens (and most others) were even five years ago. Certainly miles ahead of the 2011 5 series Beemer I drove recently. Somehow the Holden engineers have managed give a car as large and heavy as this a supple ride, taut handling and pinpoint accurate steering.
Tyres are a bit noisy but as always the trade off is between performance and noise. With a car that is as heavy and potentially fast as this I think they were right to lean to the performace side. Third, the technology has also come a long way. It works brilliantly and intuitively. The Heads Up Display was particulalrly good. On the negative side, lack of active cruise is a downer. It needs a close eye to prevent the speed creeping up on long down hills where radars are likely to lurk. Fouth, fuel consumption was better than I expected. Something with a 12 in front of it around town and 9 in mixed highway conditions if you let the engine's torque do the work. I have got a feeling we are really going to miss these cars when they are gone. Holden have produced some outstanding value for money vehicles with both the VN Calais Vs and Caprices. Anything comparable from Japan or Europe is well on the sunny side of 80k, out of reach for all but the deepest pockets.
Needs work – Dissapointed in a car that is suppose to be the top of the range. Door frame coming off and numerous issues with seat belt that have not been fixed even though they have been noted since car was purchased. Show details
It's basically a Calais with a different body – I drove the 2013 Caprice V8 and it was a pleasure to drive. luxury price tag, I'd recommend the Holden Caprice. the big V8, nice design, interior features the caprice does not offer a full petrol V6 as only available in LPG
