Flexible and reliable big bore enduro – Always wanted one of these bikes and picked up a good 2010 model recently and I haven't been disappointed by it. I believe that between 2009 and 2017 the bike didn't really change apart from the plastics. Mine has an FMF Power Core 4 exhaust fitted which makes a huge difference in power although the stock bike would have plenty for most riders… Read more

with a good power on tap and great handling. From 2009 they fitted a steering dampener which settles the front end at speed. Its a big bike but fairly slim and compact and at 179 cm fits me perfectly.

It doesn't have the same power delivery as a European enduro 450 and is probably a little more portly than those bikes too but for tractable and flexible power throughout the range its very usable in the bush or all terrain track and a lot of fun.

Honda reliability is always a major factor and the bike hasn't let me down yet starting first time much to the disgust of my KTM riding mates on a cold morning... I've also read that the top end has a longer life span between rebuilds than many high compression 4 strokes out there.

The few negatives are minor really. The foot pegs are too thin and uncomfortable and the ADR compliance electrical wiring loom (for the indicators, speedo, brake light and horn) is terrible and prone to issues.

If you're looking for a 450 enduro bike the CRF450X is worth a look particularly if you have a soft spot for Honda's.

Good fun bike very smooth power – Fun bike very smooth power. I cut the air box rejected with a different muffler heaps better now.Its very forgiving for a novice rider but a steering damper would really help as the front gets a bit nervous.Only faults are the adr crap it's so cheap and nasty and if you buy one I strongly recommend to change to stainless valves. I've got a yz250f… Read more

Rubbish – Bought a 06 of one of these. $12500 never rode it before I bought. Second honda 4st I have ever bought and I never said I would buy another honda after the first one. Got 70m down the road and I wanted to take it back. I wanted my money back. Really crap on the brakes and the ADR compliance lights indicators are just rubbish. Had a total top end… Read more

rebuild. Cam valves, Cam chain, cam holder, lifters piston kit, the cam, etc. seized from lack of oil and destroyed itself. I still have it and I have only done roughly 2500km km (if that at a guess). The Dash crapped itself not long after I bought it so I could not be exact. (All I know is I roughly ride it about 4 times a year just to keep it in running order). No warranty on off road bikes even though I bought it new.

Bad – I love the Honda range and own 6 bikes from 450X to CRF50R (07-09 Models.Disloke the service from Honda. The prices are quite expensive for replacement parts. The valving needs to be changed to stainless steel. If you want a good bike without the problems, get an XR650. They combine decent power and less maintenance costs. Grunt and ergonomics.… Read more

Great bike to ride Valves,Valves,Valves. Have had two top end rebuilds. Change oil all the time. Clean filter after every ride.Indicators fall apart (stickytape them up).Bad wiring harness(works when it wants)Horn no good (I can yell louder)

Excellent – overall ,Its a VERY good bike, Ive just got back into riding after some 20 years, and this bike challenges me , and makes me feel really alive because it's set up for a more an expierenced and larger rider (80-90 kgs),but its so forgivingin in its characteristics, that any other 450cc bike would of spat me off by now, I recommend it to anyone over… Read more

40 wishing to really cut loose and have a blast because its mind blowing FAST ,but at the same time feel very safe in its handling abilities, insane mid range power and very, very FAST. Its very forgiving for a not so talented rider, handles really well on long trails for a not so light bike,so far so good as it seems very reliable but then again , it is a Honda. Rebulding top end every 50 or so hours... WTF!,feels way heavier than 115 kgs as is specified, especially in soft sand , first gear is far too tall.Air Filter replacement is stupidly designed for kids hands.

Excellent – This is a great bike,i have done over 2000 hard(rev limmiter)kilometers on it with out missing a beat. But remember every bike is suited to its own specific application the x being open trails(high speed)thus the tall 1st gear and harsh suspension on tecnical low speeds. This bike hasn't won the condoblin and finke dessert races for nothing!.So… Read more

think of the riding that you will be doing most before you choose a bike.

P.s if you fit a white bro's pipe cut the air box out & jet the carb (approx $600Au)you will unleash around 15% more power.Best money i ever spent!no WR or KT'O wil touch it now!!also not sure about the comment on the other review concerning top speed,iv seen my bike toping 130-140kph on straights in the bush on standard gearing!!with plenty of taller gearing optins availble. 06'CRF450X tonns of power, good high speed handling, reliable, quality build with alloy and stainless components used everywhere.seperate eng & trans oil(no clitch debris going through delicate engine parts).Loads of after market goodies available!! tall 1st gear, radiators a little vunrable(needs braces but what bikes don't)

Fork action a little harsh for slow technical eg rocks, square edge hits.Need to buy a hydraulic clutch convesion kit(magura)as clutch is a bit heavy toward the end of a long day,i did.

Terrible – My mate and I purchased two of these 4 months ago, at first I liked the bike but after i had done only 250 k/m I noticed loss of power and backfiring. I took it to Honda to check it they said nothing wrong with it. Rode it some more still the same problems. changed fuel twice, no difference, air filter was clean. rode it some more found a top… Read more

speed of 105km/hr, and to my disgust the thing boiled on a tight track(even my mates KTM525 didn't boil) I have just sold the thing it cost me $70 for one indicator and the rear brake pressure switch died just out of warrenty but honda would not replace it (cost$130)It was like putting good money after bad. piece of junk, don't be sucked in by Honda's cunning sales pitch. I now own a KTM 525 and am loving it. cheap price Loud, expensive spares, poor response, low top speed, they drop valves, only has 5 gears, electrical faults, rear brake pressure switch faulty on 2007 model.etc etc DO NOT BUY ONE OF THESE BIKES!!!!! LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE.

Good – Big Power feels like your bending time with that awesome bottom end and mid range, handling so-so, stupid vaulves... no magor problems other than vaulves and wireing... I think this ones for Mechanics only though.. Very powerful blows my mates WR out of the water!! vaulves, needs to hold more oil, kind of ugly (my opinion) , KTM more reliable (my opinion),Handling only ok compared to Yammy..

Good – Excellent bike to ride, clean lineal power wich gives you heaps of confidence to ride fast. Great dynamics and handles very well. Deserves a six speed box as top seems very low. Stepped up from an 03 WR 450f and have not looked back, and saved $3k on the new WR pricing, plenty of extra cash for extra goodies. I would recomend this bike to anyone… Read more

who wants a reliable, fast Japanese bike and is willing ot overlook some of the smaller incidental issues. (I have removed most of the ADR extra's anyway). Pricing, Honda Brand, Outright power and Handling, ergonomics crap ADR conversion, ordinary wiring, dodgy indicators costing $70 to replace and last 5 minutes in the real world where you ride them. No 6th gear.

Excellent – Have had my CRF450 08 enduro for 3 weeks and I am rapt. I have always had a soft spot for the honda and love this new model. Steering dampner may do something not sure yet as tracks still hard (rain is here now). The jarrahdale (WA)tracks are muddy and gravelly and can make hard work at time and it seem to just blast through and stays straight, … Read more

the tail whips around behind you easly on any surface and moving up and down the seat makes it very responcive when it need to be. On the road keeping the front wheel on the ground during gear change up to 4th is a balancing act. It is very easy to lift and keep it there as the revs are very stable once you are used to it. The mantiance I do is oil after first ride and then every 3 to 4 tanks of juice, 2 oil system i like but the volume is hard to check remember to run bike for a minute or to before checking it.

My riding partner has a WR450 07 and having a shop rebuild labour only as has no compression, and pumping oil into air cleaner, very similar feel between the 2 bikes to ride, honda handles better wr quicker in 1st 2 gears only.

Enjoying it and will give update in afew weeks.

Toon34 Looks great and fly's, Great handling and feel. Light feel. Starts everytime so far. Feul tank to small for enduro rides, can be load, chain slap.

Excellent – Dont think i'll ever part with it. Honestly, if your an experienced rider dont go past it. I've heard a lot of bad reports about the WR from owners, but not too sure about thew KTM so ask around. i have had this crf450 (05)since new, i've ridden it very hard 90% 0ff road. It has never let me down. I think as long as you keep them maintaned. And… Read more

the servicing has been minimal, once a year for valve clearance, I change the oils every ride .As far as i'm concerned it's an awesome bike. Kills my brothers KX250 ha ha

Good – Great bike a couple of minor problems, but overall best bike I have used all round. I would buy a crf450x over the other bikes on the market. smooth power, cheap $3k cheaper than wr, easy to ride, competetive when used on enduro and motox. the airfilter is a pig to change, worst off road bike I have owned for this.
