I have D110 and have own for 10 years, bought new. At 56 hours the motor went, ha! No warranty from the JD dealer as a year had just passed. Replaced that with a Briggs off a repair shop shelf, works great but now the body is rusting. Bubbles everywhere on anything green. Just junk. It works ok but nothing like the little Ford it replaced. 18 years old and body of it was still solid but paint had faded. Everyone wants a JD, what the hell for? Show details
I've had my jd d120 for 11 years I'm at 650hrs and never let me down,I'm on 600acres but mow about 7,the machine is easy to work on(spindles, belts, steering gear servicing)and replacement parts are cheaper on line,it's still running great and never let me down,on the strength of my experience I'm going to upgrade to the 48inch deck Show details
Retired Diedrie JDeere D105 at the young age of 49hrs work under her belt – I purchased my D105 in 2017 brand new, it's done 40hrs work and died, it's been sitting in shed ever since, I couldn't possibly afford another one so been pushing a non self propelled mower around past 7 years. Now Im starting up my own gardening business " KL-WEST GARDEN SERVICES" I thought I'd bring her out and see what I can do to fix her ( I… Read more
call her Deidre)., she's had solonoid replaced, battery replaced and sent her off for full service after giving up on her, her Top speed is less than snails pace, recommendations please on upgrading

The best way to sell more: Low quality- low price, making reasons for not accepting the warranty, expensive spare parts – In February 2020, I purchased an E110 from the Tamworth branch. After about a month, I realized that the deck was very noisy and vibrating a lot, and within 5 months, I changed 3 belts for the deck. Also, one of the blades was bent, so I thought I should be responsible for the issue and changed the blade. After replacing the blade, the belt broke… Read more
again, and after replacing the belt, the new belt broke immediately. So, I moved the machine to the branch (at personal expense!!!). I explained to the branch service manager and made it clear that there was a lot of vibration in the deck. After the service, he told me that the front guides of the belts were not in the right place !!! and it was the reason for the rupture of the belts. He said the condition of the bearings, spindles, and the deck is good and there is no problem (I was not sure, but I accepted). After two months, the vibration and sound of the deck had risen sharply. Today, for 50 hours of service, I was about to lubricate when I noticed that all the holes on the deck belonging to one of the spindles were completely dilated and the spindle was completely loose. Going to Tamworth Branch, after a lot of storytelling, I heard this sentence: "We can not replace the deck under warranty, because there have been problems with the blade replacement." I am really disappointed with John Deere's services and I am sorry for myself that I trusted their product. As a mechanical engineer who knows all the mechanical components of a machine, the explanations I heard about the causes of deck failure were just an excuse for me to admit that I was wrong and I should pay for the repair cost.
Excellent Ride On V-Twin Motor Smooth and Powerful! – After the last disaster of a blown motor (19hp) on my D100 I was skeptical about purchasing another John Deere. My fears have been elayed after its first use as this mower is a BEAUTY! The cut is clean, the ride comfort is beyond smooth in any terrain and it has the power to cut through grass that you would normally think it would be too much for.… Read more
They seem to have improved the steering as it is light and manoverable. You can use the old mulch plug from the previous 100 series and this was a bonus for smaller areas to contain the grass shoot to a minimum. The 42 inch deck is standard across the range and helps my block which it about an acre of grass. I wanted to mention the V-twin motor.....its so powerful and quiet but has a lot of grunt when cutting, you don't get the hesitation as you would from a smaller engine when engaging in the heavy stuff, E.G wet or damp grass or longer grass. It just powers on through! The new one change oil filter is a bit gimmicky but it works well so there's no real need to go back to the dealer. Again a convenience that is most welcomed. I have been using this ride on about a month now and I can't fault it, Im glad I stuck to the JD, its still the best value in the market, looks good, cuts and handles well. It sure makes my life easier! I would recommend it highly!

Awesome Mower – Awesome mower. This was my first purchase when I bought a new house. First mow was June 2020. Haven't had a problem. I have a hilly yard and it does great. Runs like a Deere. Show details
I have over 1000 hours on my D100 – I purchased the D100 in 2014 I have over 1000 hours. Properly maintain twice a year with zero issues. I’m moving and will have over 2 acres of land to Cut and will need a larger mower. Unfortunately the prices of them are insane and cannot afford another. John Deere and I’m pretty upset. I see a lot of people with a lot of negative comments about the flowers, but I’m guessing they didn’t properly maintain them. Show details
If this new idea with the oil works it is great – After changing oil filter in my new E120, does the oil in the sump ever need to be drained. Is this you Bute oil filter that good. Show details

Money pit – 2017 model. 147 hours. Used on small flat Florida lawn. Rides nice. Good turning radius. $300-$700 for repairs every year. Almost impossible to grease even with a lift. Spindles had to be replaced. Steering had to be replaced. Zerks blocked in the shafts. Engine is fine.
The gist of my experience – I've had riding mowers all my life and I can honestly say that if anyone likes working on/fixing a lawn tractor then the D130 is the perfect lawn tractor. Example: spindle bearings? Those bearings are a closed bearing thus making it impossible to grease them even though the spindle has grease zerts. I personally have replaced nearly every part on… Read more
my D130 at least twice. For the money I can honestly say that it would be wise to seek Kubota or even walmart brand riding mowers. In my opinion (everyone has one of those) I fully regret purchasing a John Deere mower. Quite frankly I have very little good things to say about John deere products. Live and learn. Respectively speaking of course.
Another 1 star review – D110 from what I can read of the reviews there's a major problem. A pattern of engine failures. Mine has blown. Low engine hrs. Its been well serviced and so on. I won't be buying another john deere. Show details

Worst mower I've owned – Struggles to cut thick grass. Any sort of Slope and one wheel starts spinning. Deck cracks badly until strengthened. Seat fell apart. Whole mower is poorly made and high maintenance... Show details
Is it a lemon??? – My second JD. the first approx 600+ hours, worked extremely well - albeit a bit quick to breakdown after 600 hours. Purchased a 2nd JD E110. after approx 130 hours the clutch went and had to be replaced. after 170 hours the starter motor refused to work and when replaced by the mechanic immediately failed. The mechanic now assumes it to be the… Read more
"con" in the motor and needs to be completely overhauled. He did state it was rare for that to happen, but it should not have if the mower was properly built in the first place. Hoping that JD will come to the party on some compensation - however not holding my breath.
John Deere D130 Disappointing – Cannot express how big a money-pit POS the D130 is. Initial cost: AUD $4500 With less than 80 hours on the machine, it blew a head gasket, with repair costs around AUD $1800 from John Deere. The only thing worse than this machine, is the attitude from John Deere who blamed me for incorrect use of the machine, as though, driving around an acre of… Read more
grass was something the machine was not designed for, even though it was the John Deere rep who recommended this machine. Our land has a slight 10 degree slope at bottom end, and the D130 can no longer make the incline, and the hydrostatic transmission needs to be replaced. Still less than 150 hours on the machine. With the cost of the machine, repairs, and servicing, it would have been cheaper to hire a professional lawn care service to do the job. I am going to float test this machine (push it into the dam, and if it floats, it's good), and move onto TORO or Kubota. John Deere have built a great reputation over the years, but now they are simply brand with nothing left to trade on. My advice is to avoid John Deere farm equipment, and save yourself some money.
Broken camshaft at 230hrs – I though that like the 3 Series I00 I had before it was a good reliable mower and they are perfect for our 2 acre block. This the 4th 100 series I have owned and sadly the most unreliable of the engines. At 210 hrs needed a new solenoid. At 230 hrs it has broken the camshaft for no reason. Serviced regularly in accordance with handbook, stored in a garage or shed when not in use. Very ordinary. Show details
This has been an expensive junker – I’ve had this about 7 years now. I’ve had to have the motor rebuilt and the deck rebuilt several times. The deck is so thin it rusts and the brackets holding it up fall off. Show details
This is the worst riding tractor I've ever owned – Haven't had machine 4years roughly 110 hours. Serviced with agent and have had to replace motor, PTO cable 3 times and today it left go again. You pay for 4 year extended warranty and 2 years in you find out that EXTENDED WARRANTY runs consecutive with the manufacturer 2 year warranty. So why is it called extended warranty. Had a WALMART Yard… Read more
Machine for over 13 years and all we did was change oil, have blades sharpened, and replace belts and battery. It is still being used by our nephew. Will never purchase anything John Deere again. Nothing empties your pockets like a deere.
I thought I was buying the John Deere brand, not just a mower – Transmission went out Sunsouth in Montgomery replaced it, I had to pay for it. Now replacing the spindle assemblys. Purchased from Lowes in Prattville Alabama.
Piece of junk that company does not stand behind – Bought an s 100, used once engine stopped working, Lowes replaced cut lawn 2 more times. Stored in shed for winter. Started up, belt fell off, couldnt get it on drove back to shed froze up and started smoking. John deere said it wasnt their problem call and get it fixed myself. So I paid $2500.00 to cut my lawn 3 times. Buy another brand.
Toy mower – Mower does a basic job . Brigg's and Stratton motor an oil burner "Bottom bearing seized . Got 125 hours out of it always serviced and check using John Deere parts .Plastic pulleys under deck had to change . Only thing is they are easy to service . Motor giving mower a bad name . Off to go get another brand Zero turn with Japanese engine . Show details

Bigdog's Update @ 300hrs – Machine still original except deck belts (4) and consumables. All running well, despite some heavy hitting work. Welded-in deck drive belt pulley adjusting mechanism, a major change over earlier L series, a bad problem. JD should revert to bolted so the pulley can be moved as belt ages. One lost plastic headlight cover, plastics in engine cowl not… Read more · 1
strong enough. Transmission oil original, but trans still holding up. I expect trouble though if not changed soon, however I can achieve that, given non-serviceable design. Again, just a drain plug from JD on these lower end models, would be a massive help. One spindle bearing given notice now.
Worst Machine Ever – Does not cut properly leaves lines of uncut grass. Forget trying to mow anything higher than ankles, if you do belt seems to slip and start smoking. Then to add insult to injury the belt rubbed paint of the deck and burnt holes in the pulley covers at about 20 hours. Have only done 100 hours on it and been through 6 belts. There is no belt… Read more
adjustment for tightening on the deck, was told the pulley covers help hold the belt in place. Have complained to John Deere and the shop I purchased from this dud from. Have been told this is a great Mower, but I disagree wholeheartedly. Now I put off mowing because of the ongoing problems and live in a jungle that looks like no one live here. Worst mower ever, don't waste your money, it's a piece of rubbish.
Lousy customer service – Brought brand new and it had an oil leak from the very start . I have reported 3 times and they state can’t get to the mower for 3 months. They offer no replacement mower and expect me to deliver to the shop for repair after 3 months. And they tell me if something goes bad in the meantime cause of low oil its my fault. How do they expect me to… Read more
mow my yard .
I am still using it and keeping a close eye on oil level but I think it’s ridiculous they can’t give me a replacement mower in the mean time . Its not my fault they gave me a brand new mower that leaks oil . It runs awesome though , if it didn’t run so good i would give one star instead of 2 .
It would be a 5 star rating if it didn’t have an oil leak . They told me to call back at the end of the mowing season cause they have no skilled mechanics till then . So actually will end up being around 5 months or longer before they can get to me .
Nice unit, some mechanical issues though – Starts and cuts well, plenty of power. Comfortable to drive. Mechanical issues are 3 x headgaskets under 150 hrs ...yes that's 3 repairs before it hit 150 hours. Mechanic at John Deere said its a known issue and a rubbish engine and I should have got the V twin....The salesman didnt mention that bit. Front steering assembly a bit flimsy as I have… Read more
over extended the wheel back on itself when clipping hard objects. Other than I have just done the starter motor at 220 hours.
Burning oil with 90 hours on JD àe140 – Bought JD e140 in 2018 and it's burning about a quart of oil after running an hour. I'm thinking the head gasket is shot. Unbelievable. Show details
Really Disappointed – Bought JD since other brand was crap. Seemed ok when it was new, but started noticing little things. For three(3) blades, it didn’t seem to cut well and it left several small strips of grass. Bought the bagger, and it is just total garbage. The chute plugs up, at attachment. This after I clean out the residue that gets packed into the mower… Read more
chute. It is 2 years old and suddenly it doesn’t start. Checked all connections, battery good wires tight, brake and seat sensors test ok. YouTube vids don’t seem to help. So wasting more time trying to figure out what’s wrong. Scale of 1-10 I give it a 4. Should have got zero turn.
BEWARE – Blown head gasket at 67 hours. Bought it at Lowes in 2017. Dealer asking $400 to replace. Extremely disappointed with John Deere. There should be some class action taken against John Deere to have these recalled.
Still Running since 2004 – It is still running I just replaced the drive belt after 18 years. I have replaced the seat and and rear tires. I mow a 3/4 acre lot with hills. No other issues. Show details
