Unbelievable good – I've been using this moderately priced phone for over two years and it has never let me down. The camera is probably the best in its category. The phone is robust and durable, and looks the part Definitively considering OPPO again in the future Show details

Started off good but – The phone does a lot of things well and impressed me initially with the relatively cheap purchase price of $799, but I'd suggest that durability is not it's strong suit. This phone has a rather fragile screen which broke during the first week from new. I have had this phone for 21 months and it has become unsatisfactory. After about 1 year the… Read more

phone began dropping out during calls or not connecting at all when dialing a contact. This phone will not function properly with the Australian government covid safe app. My wife's considerably older Apple iPhone 7 suffers none of these issues. I have followed all instructions from the app developer and from Oppo customer service many times over, but still, once the phone sleeps the battery optimisation overrides the system and stops the covid safe app. I live in Brissie but Oppo suggested that I send the phone away down south for repairs. However, with the service and postage it could take weeks. I imagine that I would cop a big repair bill too. Who can go without their phone for this long awaiting repair? When my 24 months contract expires shortly I will be looking elsewhere for my next smartphone. I would not buy Oppo again and couldn't recommend Oppo phones.

Good value for money, that's about it – I am comparing this phone to my iPhone 8 Plus which has similar dimensions. - R15 pro is great value for money in these aspects: OLED screen is magnificent, Form factor is great, great screen size, good amount of Ram (6gb). Fingerprint sensor works well. - However, the phone (and brand) has close to nothing when it comes to phone case sellers. I… Read more

went all over two shopping malls, 30km away from each other, and only found two shops with hard cases. One had them in bright colours, and the other had them in some chunky drop resistant cases. Options on that are just a disaster as this is not a popular brand in Australia. - The Android system, common on all android phones, hampers this phones overall experience. Anything that is interactive is finicky and gimmicky. For example trying to use the scroll bar on a video to find the perfect minute and second you want, doesn't respond sometimes, you lift you finger to try again, and it moves to a different spot. You manage to do it, but when you lift your finger it moves to somewhere completely different.

Conclusion. If you have used Android for a long time then this will be great value for money. If you are coming from an iPhone, this will be great in some aspects, but terrible in the os experience.

Love the phone, customer service, & photos! – I bought this phone from my local JB HiFi Ballarat. It was discounted and I bought it outright because I was also switching to Telstra from Exetel/Optus. It comes with a clear soft case and a screen protector. It's Android and very similar to my previous Samsung smartphones. It takes really fantastic photos that I use for my home business. After 1… Read more

year of use (comes with a 2 year standard warranty) I did manage to COMPLETELY deplete the battery (by using it until it turned itself off too many times) and had to send it in to customer service bc it wouldn't charge/turn on and battery is not removable, but it was no hassle at all! I printed the free express post shipping label online and took it to the post office. By lunchtime the next day, I received a message from Melbourne OPPO saying it was on it's way back to me already!!! Postie had it to my door by lunchtime the following day! So 2 day turnaround including post! No charge for the fix and they supplied a new charger, cleaned my phone and fitted a new screen protector! Best customer service experience I've had in a long time! Definitely a supporter of this company now!

Good all rounder but notifications can be improved – For the price of the phone compared to similar Android phones on the market with similar specs, this truly is a great value for money buy. Pros: Screen size is great for social media and playing games, display is rich, hardly ever crashes if there are a lot of apps open, has micro SD slot which for me is important as I always back my photos up and… Read more

take it with me to each phone I change to (I know, I am old school!), super fast charging, battery life will last all day of medium use. Camera is great and fun with inbuilt filters. No bloatware either taking up precious space. Everything generally works as it should except... Cons: I spent a crazy amount of time working out how to get notifications to pop up on my lock screen. It was so frustrating and even the Vodafone techs couldn't resolve. After using a Huawei and Samsung, where their notifications are clearly displayed on a locked screen, the oppo was hard to adjust to. It meant having to unlock my phone each time to see what notifications I got, as it shows one message icon and doesn't break it down to sms, whatsapp or email. You can play around with the settings to get more detailed notifications but it doesn't work if you want to apply a nice lockscreen (which I do!). The headphone jack didn't work after a few months of owning it so I had to buy wireless headphones. Overall a nice smartphone for the price. It's fast, nice to look at, sturdy to hold and intuitive to use. But due to my preference for detailed notifications I'm not sure if I would go back to oppo however if you are not fussed then it's definitely worthwhile considering.

AI camera is trash now – The camera used to be fantastic, but since December 2019 Oppo has been messing with the AI in the camera and it does not take good photos. horrible customer service – I got one after buying iphones, the phone was good overall.....but the battery died after 2 years, just out of warranty. the have hardly any stores so you have to pay to ship it to them. Budget phone that is ok, but Id prefer to just buy an iPhone after my experience. At least you get excellent service and support. Now I'm going to have to buy another phone, which will cost me the same had I just got an iPhone in the first place. Show details

Good but needs some simple improvement – 4 star because for me: 1. the battery charge % icon on the top of home page is so small, it's very hard to read. Have tried changing to the visual bar in settings, but that is not useful. Would be an improvement if battery charge could be enlarge by tapping on the icon or at least show it in the top pull down. Also, it should be shown in the settings. 2. Hard to see the time when the phone is idle.  Show details

Leaves Apple for dead – I’ve had 3 iPhones in the past 10 years and I normally by the phone outright so I can BYO to the carrier with the best deal. But when I saw the ridiculous pricing of the new iPhones I decided enough is enough and I wasn’t prepared to pay $1800 for a phone that was a glorified camera. I know it’s a big decision to leave Apple but I bit the bullet… Read more

and after weeks of investigation I went with the OPPO R15 pro using Android which I purchased from mobilecity Through eBay for $625 delivered with a 2 year warranty. Absolutely the best phone I’ve ever had ! Big screen, great camera, lightening fast on the internet and has facial and fingerprint security. The changeover of all my data was brilliant as oppo has an app called clone phone. Just put the phones next to each other and once the recognise each other your data is seamlessly transferred to the OPPO. Also it connects to my both cars Bluetooth in a split second. I think Apples days of having a captive market and charging ridiculous prices for service and phones are well and truly over.

Great phone – Apps and games run smoothly, long battery life and some very cool features. I thought it wouldn't be as good as it is because of the cheap price and similar it looked to the iPhone x. Have no regrets so far purchasing this, it's been 6months now.  Show details

Love this phone – I bought one of these phones a few months ago and I honestly have nothing bad to say about it. The game acceleration works brilliantly, (great for Pokemon Go in case anyone is wondering) the camera quality may appear a little inferior when compared to other phones but zooming fixes that, it has been compatible with all apps that I use and so far I have had no issues with any aspect of this phone! I would gladly recommend it to anyone.  Show details

After 8 years with Apple, No regrets – After being an Apple iPhone user for 8 years, I decided to try the R15 Pro over the iPhone X. Wow. I'm in love. The switch was surprisingly easy and I am really enjoying the change and the level of customisation. For less than half the price of the iPhone X, I'm really quite pleased that the performance of the R15 Pro has impressed me so much. Now, I look at iPhone X users with pity!  Show details

Best value in its class – The Oppo R15 Pro has one of the best screens available (brighter than regular R15 FYI). I researched for days and this phone was my top pick beside the iPhone X and Galaxy S9 which cost at least $500 more. The Oppo R15 Pro goes pound for pound with the heavyweights and it's almost half the price. The R15 Pro is Android based and has Oppo's own… Read more

skin called Color OS 5.0. This skin is basically a hybrid of IOS and Android. I quite enjoy the UI since I switched from an iPhone to the R15 Pro.

The reason I chose this phone was because Oppo offered impressive specs for $750 - Other phones which offer 'similar' specs would be the Huawei P20 and LG G7, both of which cost $1100. The reason I didn't choose either the P20 or the G7 was because the P20 has an ugly, washed out display and the G7 has a smaller 3000mAh battery capacity. ___________________________________________________________________ This phone isn't perfect and it's worth taking the following cons into consideration:

⬤ ACCESSORIES Phone cases are uncommon and will need to be sourced online aside from the generic wallet cases sold at cheap case kiosks. Screen protectors are also uncommon and most of the ones found online will NOT fit due to the R15's curved edge screen (Panzerglass are now selling an official tempered glass protector designed to fit the curved screen properly). Beware of purchasing R15 cases from online stores with Chinese stock. The R15 Pro in China has different physical dimensions from the one sold in Australia and will NOT fit. There are now a few Australian based eBay stores selling proper cases for about $10.

⬤ SPEAKERS Terrible loud speaker. It reaches loud volume but sounds flat, tinny and is easy to block with fingers. The poor speaker quality is especially noticeable if you're transitioning from an iPhone which are renowned for their quality loudspeakers.

⬤ SOFTWARE While the user-interface has been mostly flawless, some apps don't seem to register when you have viewed a notification. For example the EBAY and Youtube app will show notification indicators on the home screen but it will remain there even though you may have viewed the notification.

In addition, Oppo really try to shove its own music player app down your throat. I use a third party in-car bluetooth adapter to listen to music. The phone automatically connects to it if bluetooth is activated which is fine. The issue is that when I press play on the bluetooth adapter, this phone, for some idiotic reason, will revert from the Google music playing app back to the stock Oppo music player (Which I have deactivated). I don't want to use Oppo's stupid stock music player and they need to learn the definition of deactivation. It's infuriating.

- EDIT (15/08/2018) - I started experiencing inexcusable app crashing with popular apps like Facebook and Messenger. I experience at least 5-7 crashes per day at the moment which is very irritating and unprofessional of Oppo for a phone which launched at $750. These apps have become more stable from November 2018.

- EDIT (13/11/2018) - The YouTube app had a red notification sticker glitch for 5 days. I had to restart the phone to get rid of it. ___________________________________________________________________ These sorts of cons/bugs can be found in most phones and I'm being extremely picky here just because I think it's important to know when spending such large sums of money. For the most part, this phone is fantastic and I'm very happy with my decision. You cannot beat this phone for the price. There are many people who hate on Oppo because of the ColorOS (which blatantly mimics IOS) but don't let that deter you from jumping on board. I'm a huge fan of IOS and Oppo's hybrid approach is quite finessed. ___________________________________________________________________ ★[UPDATE]★ I sold the R15 Pro in November 2018, about 5 months after purchasing. The constant app crashing was frustrating. Toward the end, I was experiencing multiple app crashes per day and I became fed up. I also longed for better sounding speakers and advanced haptic feedback which this phone lacks.
