Do NOT buy Scotts products – A total waste of time and money. The only thing that has grown is my water bill ! The product is inferior and customer support are insulting. They continually ignored the fact that the seed was watered when requried and kept moist. Show details

Its good but use extra – I used to think this was a bad product, but then I worked out that as it is slow reales over a few months, you have to put on a few months worth. Now it works like a charm. Dont use an abrasive spreader as that chips the coating and lets the fertiliser release all at once, which is the reason people think it burns. Show details

Killed my entire lawn – Used this garbage about 2 weeks ago following the instructions Perfectly. Spent the last 2 weeks watching my entire lawn die. So many reviews saying the same thing. yellow lawn scotts fertiliser lawn builder – I used a hand distributor to fertiliser the lawn, watered it in, and within 24 hrs many patches of perenial rye grass were yellow and dead similar to your first writer. It works – I use the extreme green slow release, I dont think it works in 3 days but give it a week or so and you see a difference. Have used it for a few years, trying to apply just before or during rain, has thickened the grass, really greens the lawn and reduced clover greatly. which is more clover than grass but I only have to deal with the odd patch of clover seasonally, I generally over fertilise the area with clover and it doesn't like the nitrogen rich extreme green. If you don't apply with rain recommend a really good watering in. Great product by Scotts.

There are application instructions on the back of the pack, and you really should read them. I have a Scotts fertilizer dropper and I use the recommended settings and I have never burnt my lawn. Except for one time, I must have bumped up against the retaining wall, and this caused a heap of fertilizer to fall out of the spreader unbeknown to me. A week later I found a dead patch of grass with a strip of pellets right down the middle - rookie mistake.

I have tried many other products over many years - this is definitely the best. Just don't over-do it.

top dollar to effectively kill your lawn. I held off writing this review for 7 days in the hope it would improve, but it's unfortunately only gotten worse over time. Be warned future buyers of this product.

Love this stuff – I’ve been using this product for 2 years now, my lawn is a deep green, thick and luscious. All my neighbours ask what I use and I tell them. Good stuff ! – My grass turned not only green but thick and healthy. Easy to apply does not burn lawn, use 2 or 3 times a year.. even the bare patches all gone and grass has grown over them ! Excellent Lawn Fertiliser – This is the best lawn fertiliser that I have ever used. It thickens the lawn quickly and drowns out the weeds over time. Although you can get away without watering it in until the next rain, I highly recommend to at least give the lawn some water after application. Especially if applying on hot days.  Show details

Less Weeds – I tried Lawn Builder fertiliser because it said it would thicken the lawn and reduce the number of weeds. I had lots of bare patches on my lawn and have noticed now they have grass over them. Slowly the weeds have decreased while the grass has spread and thickened. Punish your lawn – Prepared ground as instructed and watered twice a day for over a week and all I have is a dozen holes in the ground. My lawn actually looks worse and my purse is down $30! Off to return to Bunnings and buy some turf. Suggest you all do the same!  Show details

Just killed the lawn, turned it yellow – I wouldn't recommend. Seemed to burn my grass and the fertiliser did too. Just water the lawn safer that way. Didn't Work for me – Didn't improve growth of grass. It only fed the weeds, the dandelions and small leaf clover. Now I have to rip up half of my garden to get rid of the weeds. areas of grass, the grass growth didn't improve, even 3 months on. The grass was watered or rained on at least once a week during this period.

I live in Sydney with heavy clay soil, might have something to do with this.
