other lights, and with the prominent stainless-steel bolts on the lens cover, it appeared designed for easy replacement of parts. That gave me confidence I was buying something serviceable and worth the extra money.

However, when I later contacted Stedi to purchase a replacement lens, I was told it wasn’t possible. The representative claimed the units were sealed with mastic which simply isn’t true. Removing the bolts reveals the lens is just a flat piece of plastic sitting inside a rubber boot — no glue, no mastic — easily replaceable in minutes. Yet Stedi offered no option to sell me the part, only suggesting I buy an entirely new light or manufacture my own lens.

This is especially frustrating given the same light is sold in flood, spot, and diffused versions, which is simply a matter of swapping out that very lens. The fact that Steady refuses to provide such a simple spare part suggests this is less about logistics and more about sales.

Overall, I’m very disappointed. What looks like a well-engineered, serviceable product is in reality designed as a throwaway. Stedi seems far more interested in pushing new sales than supporting customers or providing a quality after-sales experience. They were not in any way interested in providing a solution. Buyers beware: even though the product looks robust and modular, Stedi does not support end-user needs when it comes to basic, easily replaceable parts.

What has really impressed me about STEDI though, is the quality of the after sales support - it’s rare to find a business these days that is keen to support existing products instead of selling new ones. After a long trip, one of the mounting bolts came loose and dropped off. I was able to easily locate and order a replacement from STEDI. Then, once the bar was about 5 years old, I noticed that the front lens was a bit yellow and had some micro cracks. Again, I was able to order a replacement lens really quickly and at a reasonable price which means it is now good as new again.

I really rate this company and they will be my “go to” in future.
