Nice oven – I read a few reviews which I think were a little unfair, if the reviewers had read the product manual they would have not had those problems. One… Read more
reviewer complained about not being able to clean between the glass in the oven door, but the glass panel slides out very easily so its simple to clean. Another said the grill didn't cook well, but the manual says to preheat the grill for 15 minutes, and when that was done it did a nice job with a toasted cheese sandwhich.
I do agree with the reviewer who complained about the vents at the rear trapping food, I would like a lightweight metal screen supplied to temporarily place over the vents to protect while stove-top cooking. Or a way to remove the top would have been better design. I have solved the problem for now with a strip of aluminum foil doubled over and placed lightly over that area. It lives inside the oven until needed, as the vents need to be clear when the grill is being used.

get something installed. As usual off to The GoodGuys found exactly what I wanted. Westinghouse Free Standing Stove WLE522WC. Paid for next day delivery, installation and removal of old unit. Store organised everything. Perfectly suited my needs, had everything I needed. My daughter took over and cooked every night for the week with me over her shoulder as assistant. Top Controls away from grand kids, simple timer seperate grill door, coil top elements. Cooked on top, used grill (with door open) and oven for roasts or warming all at the same time. One large drip tray below all 4 heating elements is practical as is easy clean top with removable chrome rings. Not a solid build but everything needed to get dinner happening. A local build, good quality and a great buy at a low price.

reviews myself. It does look good, I’ll say that. I bought a thermometer gauge to see how far out the oven temperature was and it was perfect, very surprised but happy. The ceramic top does scratch like others I’ve had in the past but cleans well. I do like that in the oven there are no side rails to undo if l want to clean the oven. One thing I’m not very happy with is on the ceramic top there are vents right behind the ceramic plate so when I’m cooking or frying anything that spits out of the pan can go into the grates and l can’t clean what goes inside them only the top. To me it’s bad designing. Other than that all else seems fine. I haven’t used the grill much but have no complaints. It’s ceramic and not induction, l have too many stainless steel pans and didn’t want to go out and buy more for induction.

Poorly designed – I purchased this less than a year ago from Appliances Online. Pros - it looks great, especially for a smaller stove. The oven is absolutely… Read more
brilliant and cooks everything really well. The hotplate is fine, except the largest one is at the front, and not the back.
Cons - the controls are at waist level and are very easy to move. If you accidentally brush past them it will turn on the hotplate - the numbers are also very hard to see and you have to bend right down to see the temperatures etc. I wear glasses so this isn't great. Also, the venting gap, instead of being behind the control bar as it usually is, is at the back behind the ceramic hotplates so you effectively have a large gap which water or oil potentially could fall through. Nowhere in the specs does it tell you how to deal with this so I purchased silicone gap covers (NOTE * DON'T USE THE GAP COVERS WHEN THE GRILL OR OVEN ARE ON).
The grill is much smaller than the usual and it's hard to use.
Also our oven light stopped working yesterday - the last oven we had, the bulb lasted 5 years but ok, that's not the worst thing, as annoying as it is. We've had the most extraordinary difficulty finding out what light bulb to buy, which of course isn't the type you can purchase from Woolies, oh no, it's a special bulb you have to buy online. That isn't the worst thing though - there is nowhere in the specs or online that tells you what bulb to buy, we needed to turn off the oven and remove the old light which still doesn't display which wattage you need so we're purchasing a 25 watt to be on the safe side. It's been an unnecessarily convoluted experience just to buy an oven light. Would it have been so hard to show in the specs?
By the way, this light bulb is really hard to find - it's only at a couple of places, ebay being one of them. After 2 hours of looking and attempting to order it, we still haven't been successful.
The whole oven has been designed badly and if I had little kids, I wouldn't buy it. The oven light bulb, for anyone who needs it, is as follows;

Shocking oven, must have got a dud – Our oven door lock became faulty, and the oven would not turn on. This and the door handle cracked. Called Electrolux (who own Westinghouse), they… Read more
sent out serviceman. A new door plastic part and door lock ordered and replaced (promptly). Very next day oven would not turn on and door lock again faulty. Serviceman showed up again next day to inspect and noted broken, had no idea where to go from here, so he left without knowing what was happening. Called him a day later, stated new lock and now power board ordered to be replaced. Waited 2 weeks for that, Serviceman arrived with parts and fixed both - now works. However, after removing the gas stove assembly the top section is screwed on slanted with a notable gap on the right side compared to the left (looks like total trash). Fast forward to a month later -- door handle has cracked below the same area, shortly after this happened the same top handle plastic broken again. Wife also noted that the grill function is not even working after turning that on. What else could possibly go wrong with this unit? Will be uploading pictures! Westinghouse - I will be calling you in the next few days! Definitely want a refund and different model thanks!

Somewhat happy – I bought this free standing oven a few months back and due to covid I shopped online for this item so a didn't have the option to shop instore so… Read more
therefore didn't get the option to ask questions or see the item in real time, the size is perfect as I was limited in space for a bigger oven, I have just 2 complaints about this item. Number 1 when the oven is on the light inside the oven is also on for the whole duration of cooking, their is no way to turn the inside oven light off and as such its a hefty draw on the power bills and number 2 the grilling tray has no handle, my last one had a small stainless handle for you to hold while pulling the grill try out to check your food, I thought it might have been missing from my pack but on closer inspection their is NO holes on the side of the grill tray to even accommodate a handle, so yes both of those things are a disappointment, I much prefer when the oven is on that the light inside the oven is OFF while cooking and it only come on when you open the door, my other ovens had the light off while oven is on and when you open the door it would come on, so for this oven to have the inside oven light on constantly while it's in use, then that's a step backwards as far as I am concerned and it's making my power bills awfully high so the star rating must be crap but again it had no star rating avail for me to compare. On the plus side, I bought this oven for the smooth glass cooktop I love them, it's a smooth sleek finish and it has updated my kitchen to a degree compared to my previous one, when you turn the stove top on they heat really fast and it's easy to gauge to almost the exact point on the dial to get to simmering stage, without you needing to be constantly tweaking it to simmer, my only concern is with the stovetop being glass they have the outline of where each hot spot is but they are so light I think that after 12 months of use they would start to disappear and rub off, I would hope the outlines of the hotspots would last the whole life of this oven say 10 years but I'm not sure, so therefore when I clean my cooktop I use just water on a soft cloth and then wipe over with a dry microfiber cloth and no pressure of scrubbing or wiping even just using the lightest touch and NO CHEMICALs as I think that will eat into the outlines of the rings. I did however pay an extra $200 for the extra warranty, so all in all I have 4 years warranty and not just the 12/24 months, also another plus is the oven seems to heat relatively quickly, so quick in fact I never pre heat it, I just put the items in the cold oven to be cooked and then turn it on, yes trying to save power but not sure its working because of the blessed oven light inside the oven on the whole time, If I had been able to turn the inside oven light off simply by opening and closing the oven door it would have been my perfect oven even without the handle on the grilling tray.

still does not work. When choosing steam assist and following the instructions that are very vague and hard to find online, PT does not appear in the display and flash 3 times as the instructions say it will. Neither oven did this, a tad disappointing to have a brand new oven and one feature not work at all.

let go of the knob and out it goes. So frequent does this happen that it takes 3 - 5 attempts before it actually stays on. Husband looked into it and said visually there is nothing he can see is wrong. It now lays dormant in the kitchen and I go to the outside veranda and use my old Technika (Italian made) 5 Burner Stainless Steel cooktop, that has never given any problems at all and I have had that for years. Seriously considering swapping both units, as I have never used the Westinghouse oven other than to hold cooking pans. Westinghouse is a dud for me now, and the more companies that outsource their products, the list is growing to avoid them at all cost will get even longer.
