Am well satisfied with this purchase – Had to replace 1 hotplate so far and now need another one replaced, plus ovenlight, also timer doesn't work (but I think that was my fault as I was a bit rough with it. Overall I am very satisfied with the quality and performance over the eight years of ownership. Good value! Show details

Simple and practical oven that is easy to use – I absolutely love this oven! For a small oven it does what I need it to do. There is plenty of room to cook dinner and also bake snacks at the same time. It cooks the food evenly and quickly which is important at dinner time. Easy to clean and maintain. Super happy with the purchase of this oven :) Show details

Humans can't make good stoves anymore – Prior to this I had an old New World electric stove from about 1960. It was not fan forced, it had no fancy features, it just WORKED! PERFECTLY! My shortbread, bread, pies and cakes were the envy of the town. Unfortunately after 60 years the switches were failing, the large burner wouldn't work, spares were unobtainable so I had to buy something… Read more

new. ;-(

The WLE525WB was cheap and had all the tried and true features of my old New World unit... except it was fan forced ONLY. Everyone said "fan-forced is wonderful" except my mother who warned me against it. There was little real choice though so I bought it.

The first unit that arrived had a factory damaged oven door surround making it useless, so back it went. It is not a good look for a company when obviously faulty units are passed by QC and sent out. Thanks Thailand!

The second unit had some minor factory damage to the rear but since that was not visible I let it go and had it installed. I did notice that the steel was considerably thinner than the old New World which was built to last!

Everything worked, the unit looks fine and the price was right BUT things didn't work as well as they did on my old New World:

- The 3 small hotplates are under powered. You will be using them a lot and although they simmer nicely they do NOT generate enough heat to boil something hard in a saucepan with the lid off or fry a good load of stuff in a frypan. The large burner is fine but there is only one and it's too big for a medium saucepan.

- Fan forced ovens are NOT suitable for baking! I know that many of you out there swear by them but you are WRONG! Fan forced ovens burn the top of your pie, biscuits, cakes etc while you are waiting for the bottom and middle to cook. My baked goods were the envy of the town, now they are second rate. I hate it but since the unit doesn't not have the heating element in the oven it cannot be turned off.

There ARE some things that are better with fan-forced, most notably pork roast! The cracking is delicious every time now and the potatoes crisp up and cook through without the need to par boil, however, I would prefer to have my shortbread and apple pies back instead.

- The griller is underpowered also. It took 30 minutes to grill some chicken skewers, even with the grill on the top rack! Ridiculous!

I am very disappointed with this unit. What were the design engineers thinking? Don't they know how many watts it takes to boil water or grill a steak? New World engineers managed to get it right back in 1960 so why is it that today's people get it wrong? I'm getting old and crusty and I've had it with the incompetence of the younger generation. Send me back to the 70s where I belong!

I'd tell you all not to buy this unit except I'm sure that the other models would be as bad or worse. There's probably no good cheap solution so you'll just have buy some sub-optimal thing and give up any dreams of being a good cook. I'm only giving in 3 stars because it does actually work... up to a point.

Does its job – I bought this as a replacement for Westinghouse Kimberly that came with our house - must have been 10+ old :). For a small oven, it has plenty of room. The oven cooks food evenly - cooks my lasagna in exactly the time the recipe says. I like that the big burner is at the front unlike other brands that it's at the back - when you use a wok, it… Read more

doesn't fit properly, this one.. does nicely.

The oven door is a step up as well - no panel is removable and spatters won't get in between panels - looks like in one piece. This will be easier to clean.

I don't like the grill tray though. It doesn't retract smoothly. It needs a bit of pull and push to move it.

The timer doesn't ring loud enough. I've only heard it once so far out of 10 or so instances of using it.

In my rental – Note: I didn't buy this product but it was in my rental. I am not sure when my landlord put it in but it seems fairly new. I was worried because its not fan forced and I love to bake. However cakes come out lovely in this and it pre-heats quickly. Grill is bit slow. Stovestop is good. Some plates work better than others but none heat up excessivly… Read more

This oven is the worst oven I have ever had – I had the non fan forced model before I got this one as the other model was deemed not suitable for baking cakes. The fan forced model is slightly better but you have to keep turning the cake regularly during cooking otherwise it cooks unevenly. I can't wait till I have enough money to buy another brand.  Show details

Brand New 1 Day Old: Enamel top getting hot like Oven – Just bought a new and got it installed today. After the electrician left just got it started to check, the enamel top gets extremely hot in 15 mins. Customer care says its normal and technician may charge $145 call out fee if its not manufacturing fault. I wonder whose fault is it for a brand new oven 1 day old. Thanks Con  Show details

Perfect cooking – My top of the range is Westinghouse I have had a few ovens over the past few years which only last for around 4 Year’s compared to my previous Westinghouse which lasted for years. easy it is to clean the top and that there are no element trays just one large tray that slides out for easy cleaning

Only thing I don’t like is the oven door with the double glass that has a divide between them which stuff get in and is very hard to clean almost like one glass needs to slide off for cleaning, but that is the only problem

So great cooking and easy cleaning

Decent oven, well built at a reasonable price – I bought this oven to replace the aging Westinghouse upright that I had in a rental property that I own. I would have preferred to buy the WLE547 with the ceramic glass cooktop, but for some strange reason the design of this one places the large heating element at the back where it is impossible to centre a large pot. The 537 has solid hobs, so… Read more

they are the next best thing as far as cleaning goes.

The cooker is easy to operate, however the manual is not very good and I have been unable to set the clock to the correct time following the directions.

The double glass doors look good and keep the exterior cool while the oven is on and the oven area looks easy to clean as there are no wire guides for the racks.

My tenant used the oven last night and was happy with the results and very grateful for the new cooker.

Exellent! – Love that it heats up quickly. Easy to clean, both inside and outside. The oven's temperature is spot on. I like the big oven space. This is value for money. Good for the budget conscious. It is not fan-forced but it is still ok. The oven cooks evenly. Love it.  Show details

Does everything we want well – We live in a small unit and wanted to upgrade the old stand alone unit. We wanted fan forced, easy to clean and control knobs out of reach of grand children. Can't fault the oven, I like to bake and have cooked many slices and cakes to perfection in this oven. Cooktop coils are easy to clean and cook timer is simple to use. Grill is also easy to use and clean. All in all very happy with this purchase  Show details

Overheating top with no appropriate customer service – The stove looks nice and appears easy to clean, but the top solid elements heat up for so long and take a while to cool down. Poor performance – Okay it's a cheapy but this stove is not even worth the cheap price tag. The hot plates take a good 5 minutes to cool down by this time your food is burnt if you don't remove it from the heat and if you do the food has stopped cooking. Off to the dump with this one as I wouldn't sell it to anyone else.

Okay – Good for the price but not perfect, the cook top don't heat like it should, the oven heat circulation is not so good, you have to be close when baking as it can burn the food. The hot plates changes colour after the first use and turn to yellow immediately.  Show details

Great addition to a functional kitchen! – This is a great oven for its price and features - heats food well and the hot plates are effective and easy to clean. Fan force feature speeds up cooking and makes reheating a breeze. Highly recommended, particularly for ease of use, price point and ability to clean. A nice addition to a small, though functional, kitchen.  Show details

Fast, efficient, and it looks so good – I purchased this oven for my elderly mother. I needed an appliance which was not too technical to use, but also efficient. slight negative comment would be the outside of the oven & surroundings of hot plates seem to become hotter than the old model use to, so one must beware.

Great upright Stove! – The cooktop is great, heats up and cools down quickly. The oven bakes brilliantly and evenly, no fan means it takes a little longer to heat up, but its worth it. The oven is well insulated at the front, so its not heating up the entire kitchen when you're cooking. Nice bright light and full glass panels makes it easy to see what your cooking. Cant fault this basic yet great model. Thanks.  Show details

thermally Dangerous. What is the standard for outside surface temp on an oven – We have only used the 535's oven twice, and both times were amazed at the surface temperature of the units outside. It would appear to reach dangerous levels, where it is scoldingly hot to touch. Not just on the glass but the door, sides and the stove top, all from the oven. Grest Stove – Just purchased this a week ago and we are very happy with the way it cooks. Stove top is quick to heat and the oven works well. Overpriced, short on quality, worse than before – Westinghouse, a manufacturer thats cornered the market then produces poorly designed standalone ovens and skimps on quality for these products. 2 Weeks old, WLE525WA grill falls out and sideways Grill only has 3 rails? years of design product should be better, not worse. A poor example of Australian Manufacturing designed for quick $$.

Previous WLE 525 (2006 model) went crook on the hot plate controllers after 2 years, door frame then bent due to thin steel body and finally fan bearings went and oven blew up.

Update:- Parents whom this new oven was bought for could not get the grill trays to slide at all, they just jammed. So copied oven to use them. To fix grill, the rail asssemblies on sides had to be removed and bent outwards so the grill would insert. It seems location holes are in wrong place and rails flex inwards when installed. Trays just screech and grind now as tray grabs rail due to poor tray grooves. Still crappy, but now they don't fall out.

detectors. As a matter of home safety do not put any of the above into the so called oven and then leave it unattended as it may, in my opinion, cause a house fire, it has certainly burnt things enough to trigger the smoke alarms in my house and carbonized the top of my orange cake whilst the bottom was only half cooked.

I used to love Westinghouse products but after using this useless thing I will never buy any of their products. Falcon wrote about how easy it is to clean and I agree except for the fact that it is useless to cook with,I suppose if it does burn my house down it would make cleaning redundant.

25 years old. The solid elements take forever to heat up, and then you just cannot bring anything down to a simmer in a reasonable time. The elements stay hot for ages. It is just a
