Best Braun Household Irons & Steam Generators
Braun Texstyle 7 Series
Frustrating iron, leaks water badly – Given how much we paid for this iron, it's so frustrating that it spurts out water with monotonous regularity. Sick of having clothes only half ironed and there are areas of wet patches, not to mention how wet my ironing board gets. Show details

Superb – It's fast, produces sharp lines and nails my shirts. Couldn't care less about the cord length. Oh and it looks a million bucks too

replace a CareStyle 5 (which I was happy with). Steam doesn't shoot down onto what you're ironing but out the sides. It constantly fogs up my glasses & scolds my hands (no, not because I can't see). Doesn't iron cotton & linen very well at all. Collars are still wrinkled and not presentable. That large water reservoir they really emphasise in the marketing?? You go through more steam than the CareStyle 5. The CareStyle 5 will iron front & back of a shirt at same time but CareStyle 9 does not so my ironing time instantly doubled. The constant refilling of the water reservoir also increases my time. I find it difficult to remove from caddy & when full, difficult to slide back in to caddy. Ironing pants now has "iron wrinkles" when I used it because I can't get my hands close enough to smooth the fabric or they are scolded. Forget trying to iron pleats in shirts, or small pieces of fabric. At times it is painful to get it out of the caddy. It now sits as a door stop. It does not deserve 1 Star!

wanted something equally effective and reliable, and the reviews seemed to indicate this is it. Unfortunately, it’s not what I was hoping.
It’s not a terrible iron - it does an adequate job. The issues I have are that it simply doesn’t get hot enough to make it easy to iron linen and cotton. I was ironing tonight and had to go over and over a pillow case, spray it with water and iron again. I’m spending much more time ironing than I used to and it’s really frustrating (and not much fun either ;). I wonder if the sub-par performance is also related to the light weight of the iron. Whatever it is, I find I’m having to press firmly to get creases out and I end up with a sore arm.
I’m putting this away in the top cupboard and will purchase a new iron tomorrow in the hopes I can find one more effective and efficient.

Great iron, does the job extremely well and very easy to use – Brilliant iron. Easy to use, long-lasting 2l tank, and a 3 year warranty. It's the best iron we have used. This model has a very light handpiece,… Read more
which is great for our dodgy hands. My selection criteria:
Good Handpiece: ✅ Lightweight (not flimsy), simple to use, with a lip at the back for fast reverse (no beeping). Big Tank Capacity: ✅huge 2L capacity, lasts for over a week and easy to see the water level. Tap fill recommended, there is a course filter (see the photo) which was a surprise at first but no problem. Low Complexity: ✅ must be simple to use. Yup. The trigger for steam on the handpiece, on/off switch, economy toggle, clear ready light on the inside base of the handpiece, with status lights on the base. 2s press for long bursts of steam, useful for jackets Easy Cleaning: ✅ easy Special features: the 3 second steam long burst
We find steam stations so much easier than a steam iron (all in one handpiece). We had a Tefal "Pro Express Ultimate" $375 which we swore by and never expected to move away from, but the electronics broke after 4 years and for the cost to repair, this model at $229 jumped out (the repair place kept the old parts). This one is so much lighter, easier to fill and has a spectacularly better tank capacity,

around for a lightweight replacement. We had always used the regular, one piece steam irons, but not even Tefal seems to currently make such a lightweight model. Researching on the internet led me to the Steam Station irons & eventually to the Braun Carestyle 7 model. While the entire station/iron weighs a lot more than any all in one iron, & can be harder to set up/store, the actual iron alone is much lighter than any all in one iron.
The 'Station' sits well on our Philips Easy6 ironing board. Warm up is quick, after the iron is turned on. This iron is very gentle on fabrics & I have never 'burned' even the most delicate fabrics (I often burned delicate fabrics with the old all in one steam iron). Of course, I turn delicates & clothes with prints inside out, when ironing. The iron doesn't need as much downward pressure, to get the same result, as a regular steam iron. Heavier fabrics, like denim, are handled easily, though stubborn creases may require an extra blast of steam from the 'Precision shot' button. This, combined with the lower weight of the iron, is exactly what my partner wanted, to reduce her arthritic pain, while ironing. The water container is still one thirds full, after ironing 2 full loads from a 7.5kg washing machine, which is much better than an all in one steam iron that I was always refilling. The shape of the rear end of the iron is curved & makes it easy to go over buttons, without catching, in the reverse direction.
Overall, we are very happy with the Carestyle 7 & would recommend it, especially if you have problems with the weight of a regular iron.

substandard.
The promotional material stated it has "greater steam performance", a strong "turbo mode", an "excellent steam rate" and "high steam pressure and extra steam shot". None of this was found to be correct once I had the unit in front of me.
I tried the iron on linen, cotton and denim on several occasions. I found the iron steam production was inadequate -- taking 2-3 times longer to iron these garments and doing a poorer job -- than the old ‘outgoing’ iron, regardless of the setting.
In short, the unit did not perform as advertised and was returned.
