Otherwise there are common sense things: do two cuts high and low of long grass, first one slow, change the oil and filter every year, spray-oil deck and engine bay once a year to help prevent grass build up for the fire problem I’ve seen mentioned here, and clean each time with an air compressor. terrible to use having a manual clutch meaning you have to stop and dis-engage to make changes. The centre cutting platform is hard to get used to when mowing curves. I have had the mower 2 years and have had to repair it 6 monthly. Now that the case is cracked from vibration it will need major welding. I wish to warn people it would be better to buy a sheep than this junk.

Torq K46 transmission is worn out. I’m quite prepared to replace the transmission, (at around nz$3000 + install) but no one can source the correct part. Masport now incorrectly specifies the transmission from the given serial number as a 4WD model. This comes sorely on the back of now understanding that these tuff torq transmissions need servicing after the first 50hrs, then every 150hrs. I always read the owners manual and masport never indicated anywhere that this was the case. Had I have known this, and servicing been done, this mower may have done another 600hrs. Now I’m left with a strong well serviced 24hp VTwin motor on a chassis going nowhere and probably only worth $600. COME ON MASPORT! ! ! Don’t leave out important service information just so you can sell more product. It’s not doing your name any good, and I won’t be replacing it with another one of yours because of this. Apart from that, it’s been a good ride on… hence I’ve wanted to replace the transmission but can’t. Tuff Torq transmissions are in many other different makes of mowers all over the world, so you should be aware of this. It’s just that Masport, as in my case, needs to make buyers aware of the servicing of all it’s parts, not just what suits them. NOT A HAPPY CAMPER! !
