you put them in, they will fall out. So bad idea to take them outside. These are for the inside of your house where you can find them again. Also it uses Bluetooth, a technology which is not reliable.

Really happy with these. Good to have the extra hearing test/hearing aid type feature even though it doesn’t work super well. Good sound quality overall though. Show details

crackling/hissing faults within a month of each other, they are four years old and apparently have a known problem BUT Apple would only repair or replace these up to three years. So, I will not be buying Apple anymore as I don’t think the 400 dollars proved to be for a superior product

Using the Apple AirPods Max feels like stepping into a very premium version of everyday listening. After spending time with these over ear… Read more

headphones, the experience stands out not only because of the sound but also because of the build quality and overall design.

The first thing that impressed me was the construction. Unlike many wireless headphones that rely heavily on plastic, the AirPods Max use stainless steel ear cups and a mesh headband that immediately feels solid and high end. The materials give the headphones a luxurious feel, although they are noticeably heavier than many competitors. Despite the weight, the mesh headband distributes pressure quite well, so wearing them for an hour or two remains comfortable.

Sound quality is easily one of the highlights. Music sounds clear, detailed, and well balanced. The custom 40 mm drivers produce deep bass, smooth mids, and crisp highs without distortion, even at higher volumes. Listening to different genres such as rock, electronic, or podcasts feels immersive because the soundstage is wide and instruments are easy to distinguish.

Another feature that really improves the experience is the active noise cancellation. When using the headphones in a noisy environment like public transport or a busy café, most background noise disappears. Multiple microphones monitor outside sounds and adjust the cancellation in real time, creating a calm and focused listening environment. Transparency mode is equally useful, letting outside sound pass through naturally when you need to hear your surroundings.

Using them within the Apple ecosystem also feels effortless. Pairing with an iPhone or Mac is instant, and switching between devices is seamless. The Digital Crown control, similar to the one on the Apple Watch, makes adjusting volume or controlling playback very intuitive.

Battery life is solid but not exceptional. With noise cancellation enabled, the headphones typically last around 20 hours of listening time, which is enough for several days of regular use. Fast charging helps as well, giving additional listening time after only a short charge.

Of course, there are a few downsides. The headphones are expensive compared to many alternatives, and their weight can become noticeable during very long sessions. The included carrying case is also somewhat unusual in design and does not offer the same protection as traditional hard cases.

Overall, the Apple AirPods Max deliver a premium listening experience with excellent sound quality, strong noise cancellation, and seamless Apple device integration. They may not be the most affordable headphones on the market, but for users deeply invested in the Apple ecosystem who want a refined and immersive audio experience, they are a very satisfying piece of technology.

1 apple device. connection glitchy, especially to my Apple Watch.

The sound quality is OK and NC impressive for the size, but compared to a set of a cheap brand they aren’t better, and a cheap pair of Jlabs doesn’t have the problem above and they stay locked onto my Apple Watch when I want.

Battery is poor after a year.

I’ve replaced these with a $50 pair and they are actually superior.

use, they clamp fairly hard over your ears and gave me a headache (lost a star over that). A search found this a known issue and after delving discovered a hack to loosen the force. It involves flexing the headset flat and holding for a minute, this eased the pressure and I've had no worries since. They are rather well built and fit well into the Apple ecosystem, functions are intuitive without being overly complex. The noise cancelling is excellent, I use these in noisy environments successfully. The battery life is pretty good, and charging on the go is easy with a short charge giving that bonus time. I wear these daily and can see the value in the extra cost.

reviews on every site. I’m beginning to suspect the reviewers are all apple fanboys and girls. These buds are fussy to use. They require constant adjustment on your phone settings to make them work as designed. It’s only possible to connect to one device at a time. To connect, they need to be put in the open case to pair them with anything. In fact it seems like you have to return them to the case to do anything. Really disappointing. When you want to change the device you’re using you need to put them in the case, again, then you get offered the whole training package including hearing tests, again. My daughters have JBL WAVE BEAM 2 buds. Connect them on bluetooth to your computer AND your phone and they just swap to the phone when your phone rings. AirPods struggle to decide what they’re connecting to. I need to turn the Bluetooth off on all my apple devices, so I can use them with non apple products. It seems apple can’t believe you would use non apple products. The AirPod pro 3 are 4 x the price of earbuds that just work, like apple products used to.
