outdoors on my garage for over 3 years. Recently I found sometimes it cannot playback recording clips so rang their support number and received excellent & very knowledgeable help from Glenn. After downloading & installing their latest version 5.13.1 build 2356 capabilities version 132, all playback problems were resolved on both iPhone and iPad. And Glenn even rang me three times informing the new version’s availability, excellent support and very good product. The video images recorded are very clear.

the cameras need to be charged every month. There is a delay in receiving alerts. Live feed on the cameras is very slow to load. It can take anywhere between, 30 seconds and 3 minutes to load the camera feed after receiving an alert. The spotlight function is useless as it is triggered in daylight hours, which is annoying and flattens the battery quicker. The audio quality is poor. Picture quality is good but on the same level as a $30 camera. As Swann cameras are $250, I expect better quality. As a test a $30 indoor camera placed outside next to a Swann camera, loads instantaneously, a video doorbell loads instantly, while the expensive Swann camera, thinks about it, thinks some more and eventually loads the picture. Would I buy again, NO. Value for money, NO.

The good: It's wireless, so it's very simple to set up. The inbuilt rechargeable battery lasts a long time. It takes a microSD card (not supplied) to record video, so you don't need to pay the manufacturer an ongoing monthly subscription fee. The app is quite useful and user friendly, providing a lot of tailorability and programmability. AI voice responses to standard doorway interactions can be set up, so visitors think someone is at home, even if you're out (I haven't tried using this). Night vision is acceptable.

The bad: It's way too slow and laggy when interacting with the camera via my phone app. Visitors may think there's nobody home, give up and leave, while I'm waiting for the phone app to connect to the camera. The camera is quite close to the router, so it's not a wifi problem. I've turned off battery saver, so it's not a power problem. It's just too slow to be fit for purpose.

That being said, it still makes a half useful easily relocatable security camera. Or a wildlife camera to see which animals frequent your yard. Just don't use it as a doorbell camera.
