Great adventure with great cars! – Very nice people, great car! We got the Safari (white Toyota Land cruiser) and had a great time with it. The car could handle anything rough Fraser Island had to offer, if it comes to roads. It drives very easy and the rides were comfortable. Price/Quality is very good.
Highly Recommended Business – The claims of unroadworthy vehicles is extraordinarily laughable. I have been dealing with this company for 8 years as a commercial photographer. I have never had a vehicle issue, and have seen many customers try to scapegoat the owners for their own driver error. Theses are highly used off-road vehicles that encounter the shockingly harsh environment of Fraser Island. As such, I am surprised at what good repair they are in. I am well aware of the many vehicles which have been taken off the road by the department of transport as part of increasing safety on Fraser Island. To my knowledge NONE of Adventure Centre's vehicles have been removed. Again, as far as I know, no other local company can say the same.
All vehicles are test driven with the customer before leaving for the island. All vehicles are inspected to external damage before leaving for the island. All parties agree to the condition of the vehicle before leaving. This puts one previous review in the category of a false claim.
Furthermore, I have no doubt that vehicles are constantly being repaired give that this is an off-road hire company. What, then, is inappropriate about repair being made before a vehicle goes out? Does that not indicate that the vehicles are tended to constantly?

Great fun and no problems! – Adventure Centre supplied me with a excellent weekend of 4WD fun! The cars were great and easy to drive, staff were friendly and gave some good ideas for spots to stop along the drive.. Looking forward to returning to Fraser Island for more fun in the future with Adventure Centre. Friendly
Unroad worthy cars, not safe to drive – This company is an absolute joke. Hired two 4WD vehicles through this company to visit Fraser Island for the day. After 15mins into the journey, brakes failed in one of the cars, as did the handbrake. Successfully bringing the car to a stop and without crashing, we called the hire company as we didn't know what to do. They said they'd be over within half an hour. Almost an hour and half later, the company sent over a mechanic to fix the broken brake line. The owner mentioned in passing, the brake line could of easily been ripped out by a stray stick or rock, which were found all along the path we were made to take. We stayed away from the beach (the much smoother and more direct route), ordered by the company and took the inland path.
They fixed the problem, after making us pay for more brake fluid (on the Island) and sent us on our way. They reassured us everything should be fine now, and to just "ignore the sound coming from the exhaust", which sounded like a farm tractor (the sound was coming from a massive hole in the exhaust pipe).
Finally, making it safely back to mainland, we arrived back at the car hire to return the cars. Upon our arrival they presented us with a tax invoice, charging us for three hours for cost of the mechanic, plus for parts for fixing their unroad worthy vehicle. The company claimed any damaged to on top of or underneath the vehicle was to be paid for by us. They were not forth coming with any remedies. We missed out on 3 hours of hire time, and were very worried about driving in a vehicle with air in the brake lines. Something serious could of occurred, ending in injury.

Rip Off for unroad worth 4x4 hire – So disappointed with 4x4 rental from Adventure 4WD Centre. Do not hire a Toyota trooper from this place. They were fitting rear door when we arrived. Car was un road worthy and dangerous. When we asked for a refund due to issues, we were made to feel as though it was our fault and we were aware of what we were hiring. Will be taking this further to avoid serious injury to others who rent from this place. expensive, unroad worthy
A customer cannot expect to return a vehicle at the end of the rental and then expect a refund. The issues of concern were addressed by our staff and while the customer may not have agreed, it is their opinion. We attempted to satisfy the customer by explaining our point of view.

These customers breached contract and tore the fuel line from the underbody of the vehicle. The inland track is used by all vehicles to avoid untrafficable conditions around Hook Point. We saved further costs to the customer by fixing the damage on the island enabling them to continue rather than having the vehicle recovered at even a greater cost. The customer was presented with the labour and repair bill according to the hire contract. The customer also undertakes a driving demonstration before the hire commences and there was nothing classifying the vehicle as not roadworthy at the time. Hirers have a duty of care, responsibility and accountability when undertaking vehicle rental agreements.
