A good offering is ruined by inefficient pick up and drop off service
This company offers reasonable cars at good prices. However, our two most recent experiences with their drop off and pick up service has led us to decide to not use them again. The problem is not with the drivers, I believe, but management decisions around how to service this critical part of the customer experience. The problems are: 1. an automated receipt service that you are ready for pick up, 2. pick up buses not stopping where they had advertised to stop, 3. no checking of names of people boarding the bus, and 4. people left behind (in one case a wheelchair bound person). As a result of this shambolic and discourteous service, we will not use this company again.
Bargain Car Rentals - Melbourne Tullamarine
Recently hired from Bargain Car Melbourne,Tullamarine. All the staff we dealt with were great, very nice and friendly. Pick Up and drop off was easy and shuttle to and from Airport very convenient. They gave me a voucher to use to get a discount on another rental in the future at any of their locations. I have used them previously in Darwin and Cairns and have always been happy with their service. Will be using them again on the Gold Coast in June. Thanks Bargain Car.
"DO NOT" use this company
Hired an SUV from their Brisbane office. All went well with the pick up, the car was fine and the return went well. No issues noted on the vehicle on it's return and the agent said everything was good. A few days later I noticed a charge of $305 taken from my account with no communication from them as to what this charge was for. I tried to contact them via phone (don't bother they don't answer) I also supplied my number for callback service (again don't bother they don't call back). Eventually I emailed their head office in Hobart and got a re...ply saying it was a cleaning fee due to tree sap on the car yet no evidence was provided. I wish I had read some of the reviews on here prior to hiring as this is clearly one of the scams they use to extract money from the customer. Stay Clear of them.
Renter Beware. Our SUV rental turned out to be a front wheel 2WD Nissan XTrail. $300 per day for something completely misdescribed.

Excellent Service in Hobart - Tasmania
We arrived into Hobart Airport (group of 7) hoping to find an 8-seater car. Before leaving Melbourne, we were not able to locate a suitable car so we decided to try our chances upon arrival. Before speaking to Bargain, we approached other companies within the Hobart terminal that were offering astronomical hire prices. Our situation was looking miserable and somewhat desperate. The staff at Bargain noticed our distress and handled our anxiety with complete care and professionalism. Both Andrew and Davinder were exceptional in locating a suitabl...e vehicle (8 seater) at a reasonable price and had it meticulously cleaned (we waited 45 mins for this service) and we left Hobart airport extremely relieved and happy. Our 4-day break in Hobart with the car was perfect. Thank you to both Andrew and Davinder (Hobart Airport Terminal) who were fabulous. I highly recommend Bargain to anyone looking for a reasonable car to hire whilst away.
Hired a car from the Cairns branch for 5 days in March. Had read some of the negative comments and was a little nervous as pricing was outstanding. All the staff were very efficient and polite and hired MG had only 17000km on the clock. Office was a 5minute drive from airport but free pickup mini bus was there to pick us up. Had to leave car on a Sunday and polite call reminding me of the last shuttle was appreciated. Thank you for great experience..I will be eager to use their services in the future !

Average Carv and No Customer Service
Launceston Tasmania - Car was not maintained with tyres being low in pressure, fuel gauge was also suspect.
However on return of the vehicle the front desk staff member on duty 29/3/21 @ 7am was quite put out that the customers had returned early to drop cars off “she stated she came to work to get her work done early “ inference being we were interfering with that , she just left us all there and walked to the van and got in we were not sure we should follow as there was no communication at all. Her behaviour was not customer focused and very off putting for further car rental in Launceston.
Will never use again, left us without a vehicle!
Booked a camper 4 weeks prior to arriving and received a booking confirmation email explaining pick up details etc. Turned up to the airport at the booking date after our flight called the number specified in the pick up email, had a response saying that a pick up is being organised for us. Waited for an hour and still no pick up came, finally spoke to another airport transfer driver and they said that no bargain car rental campers had been made ready for pick up that day. The booking had not been put through. Now had to try and organise a last...minute car (through wicked campers) who luckily had one available. Never will use bargain car rentals again, do not ever recommend. Their customer service to reprimand the issue was also terrible and had us on hold for over an hour.

Stay clear and stay away
Absolutely shocking. Got to the airport and waited 40mins for pickup. I rang as I got there and I was told someone was on their way. 20mins later ring back and told won’t be more than a couple minutes more, another 15mins and they finally arrive. The trip back to the office approx 8mins.
8 people arrive in the same bus, 2 people serving 3 in the back office walking in and out. I got my car after approx. 40mins of arriving at the office.
Now I want an invoice, tried to ring and no answer so I opted for call back. No call back. Next day I tr...ied to call, took ages and then just sent me to message bank. Left a Message. Then I called again and try to go a different path to accounts. Also ended by not talking to anyone. Three days later I sent an email asking for my invoice. Acknowledgment of my enquiry, hallelujah! Alas it was automated.
Was in a rush as they didn’t have a shuttle early in the morning so I couldn’t put petrol in. They charged me $150 and on top of that $300 for cleaning fee!!! Unbelievable they take all of this once you’re on the plane and dropped off the car. The car they gave us was so warn out but we were desperate! I’m a mechanic and I knew something was wrong. Becareful of these guys their cheap but they will keep taking money from your account. My receipt shows how much they keep taking from my account.

you can not get them on the phone ,you can leave a message but never returned , they say drop the car at the airport , but there is no address to leave it , i drove around for a hour end up going to the police station to ask them where the drop off yard was for bargin , the police put me in a direction behind the airport , it took me another half hour to find a spare allotment with a few car in it with a little bargin car rental sign on the fence , no one there to take delivery of the car or a place to leave the key , so i just left it unlock...ed with the keys in the centre console , i complaien to head office and the bloke said you will get fined $150 for abanding the car i tried many times to ring their mobile before i left the car but was not answered as they dont work weekends , still waiting for the return call from head office after he spoke to his darwin staff , i doubt that i will receive the call back as promised , this is the worsed experiance with a car rental place in my life and i am old , so be warned
If there was a minus 5 star option I would have chosen it .. absolutely terrible service with very very racist staff at the from desk.. never experienced such thing in my whole life ..

This is by far the worst experience I have had we car rental.
We booked 3 days rental from the hobart airport branches via skyscanner and paid everything in full prior to the pick up
We picked up the car 50min before the scheduled 11am time. No one told us anything apart from the fact that the car was ready but they added a line in the bill for an additional day ($100!!)
We then tried to see if we could return the car later only to being told that another additional full day will again be charged (which is against what they say here https:/.../www.bargaincarrentals.com.au/help-faq/#:~:text=If%20I%20return%20the%20vehicle,been%20returned%20to%20our%20location.) Random people are texting you at 9pm prior to your pick up but then the customer service is awful A disgrace

10000000% Use these guys again. We booked on the gold coast (we were smart and read our paperwork, Knew they were an off airport rental company) The shuttle driver Tony was delightful and informative, smooth and easy transition to the depot, Once there we were greeted by Bryan, who at 730am was bright, bubbly and had fun banter.
we opted to take the peace of mind driving package he offered us, which made life on our holidays so much easier, we didn't have a care in the world and completely stress free.

Worst Company Ever
SCAM COMPANY!!! This is the worst and most disrespectful company I have ever dealt with. They did not deliver on there promise. They lie, cheat, and steal. We still do not have a refund. The regional manager acted in a disgraceful manner and was too scared to call us direct he has his staff have to deal with everything. The women behind the counter was a disgrace and was so busy trying to stop us getting the car rather than resolve the actual issue. No customer service.
This company charged us twice for car rental insurance and wont refund!! BEWARE !!
We took out Full car insurance coverage with their online affiliated company "Economy bookings' with a pre-booking in Dec 2020. When we picked up our car in Feb 2021, we were pressured into taking additional insurance for $180. When I got home and re-read our on-line booking policy which stated we had FULL COVERAGE, I contacted Bargain Car rentals to get a refund for paying twice for car insurance. They claimed that they don't have access to records from their affiliated Company Economy Bookings, and didn't know that we already had Full Covera...ge insurance. Even though their Customer service manager understood that we had paid for insurance twice, but said they could do nothing to reverse it. She refused to provide a refund saying that we signed an agreement to buy this insurance. Do not book car rental with this Company. Terrible customer service.

Wanted to charge $200 plus insurances because our group was 2.5 hours early as our flight changed.
Then they decided to cancel the vehicle for 10ppl (including 3 very young children) and pretty much leave us stranded (claiming we were being aggressive), Think she was confusing assertiveness with aggression.. perhaps was the women there who was reflecting her own aggression as she had 0 customer service skills. All this over complete ego!
I completely get certain things out of people's controls and get that companies have policies but there was so many options for them to handle this and instead just disgusting behaviour, do yourself a favour and avoid avoid avoid this company!!
I rented the car from the Brisbane airport depot through advertisements on the Jetstar booking page
I got picked up from the airport with no problems however when I booked in I was informed that I could not take the car to Yamba which is about 3 hours south of the Brisbane airport as Bargain did not have any coverage there in NSW???
Apparently, this is written in small print somewhere in the advertisement

Booked a rav4 from Darwin Airport from the 7th Feb 2021. Had the rental fee taken out of my account plus a $500.00 Security Deposit. I Emailed and asked why it's in out t&Cs. Returned the car on 15 Feb. Asked when I will get my money back. I get told 7 to 14 days depending on your bank.
Today they deposit $1 in my account and then take it back.
Sent another email and no reply.
By looking at all the other reviews I will not see my $500

Hi. I had no problems booking it was when we took the car back. Apex rentals are much better to deal with in NZ and usually have good deals. I don’t recommend bargain rental cars
Has anyone received an invoice for work done on the hire car? The company returned $230 of the $750 they took for a chip in the windscreen but I havent been given the invoice to get any money back from my travel insurance which included any excess for damages to my rental car. Thanks Ally

OMG! This exact thing is happening to me just now (Hobart Airport branch) - nearly exact same $$ figures as well.... I had to DEMAND evidence of anything - as I am certain no damage existed in the first place. They didn't even tell me before or after deducting money directly from my account (which I think is called stealing!) I finally received invoices after noticing the deduction and demanding them (which I haven't yet been able to open because I think they are corrupt files), but that doesn't necessarily constitute evidence or a damage report either.
