It's not a Rolls Royce, but it works well and does the job nicely. Show reply

The only reason I've put this as 4 stars is that it doesn't have the same flue that the perineum camp oven/stove has, that curves away from the gazebo. Other than that it does an awesome job for the money you pay for Show reply

My 5 yr old can seal a weld better – I am a welder. I know for certain I could build the same thing for less except it would actually seal. It's rubbish an should be taken from the sell pile. I have it set up in an out door area. All it does is smoke the place out. Show details

Fumigator or smokeinator is what we call it – This wood box looks great large size and has the right accessories for it. Sadly the in/out venting of this unit and internal air flow is poor. Having used it first time Mt Howitt trip 2/12/23 for 5 days then 9th till 14/12/23 at Razorback hut confirmed that this unit is not the best. Unless the fire is constantly tended it will go out even with… Read more

the cooking plate removed and the door open. We tried heat beads of best quality as fire base made little difference. If loaded to get max heat it will make charcoal at the flu end We had to use a portable hand air blower to help. The Kings video I viewed shows it working great but not for us. Luckily not my purchase was my friends so I am not disadvantaged. If modified this large firebox will make heat with ease of use, perhaps next model will be improved.

Great stove but poor quality – Hi Folks, Just letting people know that this stove works really well. Great for keeping you warm here on cold Tassie nights. it cooks very well. HOWEVER: After using the stove for a fortnight on a road trip around tassie the stove's top plate's welds started to loose bonding. This means that heat and annoyingly smoke escapes from the plate as… Read more

it is now bending slightly where the welds failed. The stove was never overloaded with wood.

So although I really like the design and lightness / packability of the stove the quality ( I also originally had a problem with the flue and the store reimbursed me for immediately) is not going to last I reckon. As such the stove is not fit for purpose. May last a couple weeks a year.

Also sadly the vendor 4wd super centre have not responded with a solution. Probably wont buy from them again.

Great bit of kit! – I've used it lots out camping. It weighs 10kg, sets up and folds down easy (except some of sticky chimney sections). Lot of control over flame and smoke (hardly any in your face). You got to get near it for warmth but plenty. Haven't cooked on it but easily could. Photo doesn't show much of it but how good is the setting- Menindee Lakes Show details ·  1

Handy little unit – Got this as a bonus with my roof top tent. For what it is, its great. Keeps smoke up high and heats well. Chimney pulls apart and fits inside the unit for travel. Show details ·  1

Fair Value product couple of small concerns – I bought this product to enjoy a fire whilst out camping or at home. With the view to cook a bacon n eggs in cast iron pan boil a kettle or a roast or damper in a camp oven. I used it as a fire place for my first use and it works well and is efficient on wood although after the first use i was a little disappointed that the paint had peeled off… Read more ·  1

the top surface and along the sides of the unit. If I had of know it was going to flake off so quickly i would recommend to purchase with a bag or look at a high temp paint to prolong its life. The door works well to reduce or increase the heat / consumption of wood while the chimney does the job to direct the smoke away from the fire place. I like the fact the unit is compact although i hope the small tack welds on the leg mounts hold. I not sure i would call it a camp oven. Next time I use it I hope to have a bit of a cook up - will try a frying pan and camp oven with heat beads on the lid.

Great product with very weak stress points – To start this review introduction I'll advise that I'm focusing on 3 key points, 1)does it do the job well that it's intended for? 2)is it value for money? 3)is it safe for its intended function? Does it do the job well that it's intended for? Yep, sure does and then some! It really is efficient at producing heat that's both useful for cooking… Read more ·  3

and providing warmth. It is really a great little slow combustion stove /heater with a tall chimney + flue/airflow dampener. It's just a stove top though, in its name it implies its also an oven which it isn't. One could quite simply, easily & effectively place a camp oven on top of the stove top but calling it an "camp oven/stove" is a little misleading.

That being said what it is and isn't is pretty apparent to anybody that looks at the pictures or YouTube videos https://youtu.be/Wta1JU3cHSc

It's design is even elegantly simple, following the KISS philosophy (Keep It Simple Stupid). It's nothing more than a time tested, slow combustion stove design. The Chimney/flue is segmented, the storage is completely functional with the legs folding away on hinges under the stove and the segmented parts of the long chimney fitting inside the fire chamber. It is manufactured with thin steel though and will rust rather quickly if left out in the weather. I apply a light spray of canola cooking oil (aerosol can) to ours as a rust prevention for storage, seems to be working so far.

Is it value for money? I'll go so far as saying HECK YES! Purchase by mail order + shipping is under $100 full price. I've seen it promoted including an appropriately sized canvas storage bag. When I bought ours it was under a different promotion, mine came with a headlamp style of torch and free delivery for under $90.

Is it safe for its intended function. I'm sorry to say no, not completely! I will explain this in a bit more detail though because in this case it isn't necessarily a deal breaker. It's got some cheap & nasty welding, probably just tack welded in some key stress areas combined with cheap steel. I'm mainly speaking of the join between the legs and the main body.

The chimney initially had to be broken in, it's segments initially won't fit together smoothly and a small amount of force is required. If I'd set it up on land, or on a beach etc I'm sure all would've been fine but.... I never intended to use it for camping or lunch in the paddock whilst at work etc (I'm a retired station hand), I intended to use it for a BBQ and set it up on stone pavers, slate and cement. In its feet are holes for staging into the ground which would've held the legs in place and all would've been fine, but you can't drive a stake or tent peg into concrete.

Applying the most meagre amount of force installing the chimney on the main body caused the unstaked legs to spread apart at a weak weld, the unit no longer would sit level, and the chimney would lean. As it's a very tall chimney the stove has a high centre of gravity. Without being staked into the ground it's a topple hazard. I wouldn't want it anywhere near a nylon tent etc as shown in the various YouTube video's. In all of the videos, product information literature, product description & marketing there is no mention of staking it to the ground but it really should be done as a matter of safety and fire risk mitigation.

I've made a repair to the spreading leg with fence wire and it's working fine. I've also made a warranty claim, only yesterday and haven't heard back yet. I've included photos of the stove and leg with the poor welding. I'd certainly buy this again but I feel better knowing I've advised others about its strengths and shortcomings.

Of primary concern to me is knowing that I quickly discovered these issues and was able to rectify them. I may have gotten the worst product of the assembly line or I may have gotten the best, I found the flaw before it caused a problem but someone else might not. It's upto you to decide but as far as value for money goes, I think it's pretty good considering similar products of better quality are several hundred dollars.
