in Australia at the time in the mid 1970s. I use it often with a mixture of heat beads and charcoal, I always cook my whole leg ham on it and my Turkey every Christmas for the most perfect and juicy meat ever, and I've got 16 BBQ plus a Webber Q, and this kettle is the best by a mile. Now I'm looking at buying a new one, I don't really know why, but they seem to have a few improvements added over the years, then I will be able to cook my meat on one and my veges on the other at different temperatures. It's a win win for me. Well done Webber, keep up the great quality. Photos Christmas 2021. Brilliant.

well-executed stove, especially if you're hoping for efficient heat output in cold conditions.
The most frustrating design flaw is the chimney size in relation to the combustion chamber. The flue is simply too small to create sufficient draw, leading to smoke backing up and pouring out of the lid whenever the door is opened, or worse, causing the fire to choke and go out altogether. This seriously undermines its functionality as a stove, where clean burn and controlled airflow are essential.
When used as an open fire pit (with the door and top open), it’s passable, although it’s very heavy, bulky and expensive compared to a flat pack pit. The heat output is underwhelming and in cold temperatures, it struggles to radiate enough warmth to be genuinely useful unless you're basically hovering over it.
Overall, the Ozpig looks the part and may appeal to those who like the aesthetic of a metal box with legs and a chimney but in terms of actual stove performance, it’s a bit of a letdown. If you’re after reliable heat or practical cooking in a variety of conditions, there are better designed alternatives out there.
Looks good, built tough, slick marketing but let down by poor airflow and limited heating performance.

failsafe. Yeh, I’ve heard that before. My research kept coming back to this BBQ, so bought it, the mid sized 47cm version. Best decision I have made! This thing is amazing! Two cooking shelves, real strong smokey flavour which i like, (depending on your smokey wood preference which is adjustable), Set and forget, best Brisket ever! Simple and easy to use, utilising the same BBQ Bricketts, in the "Mignon Method, two circular rows of Bricketts and the hot chimney coals in the middle. Temperature is consistant at approx. 205-215 degrees (6-7hours), smoking with up to 4 lumps of wood (2 hours), then continue for a further 6 to 8hrs. Wow, what we have eaten out of this SMC is simply amazing! This BBQ is easy to keep clean due to its enamel coating, empty the ash and thats it! Love it’s simplicity and reliability! I use it on a regular basis, at least once per month. I have cooked all types of meats in my WSM, without a hitch. I have two other Weber Charcoal BBQ's.

2-3 years ago I began using the grill for Reverse Searing, Smoking and baking / roasting.

Cleaning the Grill is as simple as making sure after each cook you let it heat up a bit further to burn some of the grease off and then next time before starting use a hard plastic brush to give the grates a bit of a scrub.
My grill is under cover so it deals with wind and rain well.

replacement gas hose and regulator and because we are outside their service zone, I fitted it myself which was easy enough. (Having said that I had to get the US mob to remind them they did have spares).
Somebody said in another review that the small gas cylinders are no longer available but Bunnings carry the Benzomatic range (the 465g is $9) and any Propane cylinder of 465g or less with a CGA600 fitting will do.
As a BBQ it's simply great. It takes awhile to get used to venting top and bottom to get the temperature right but it's capable of reaching temps over 500F. Using hickory wood chips in the burner imparts a great smoky flavour to anything you cook in and slow cooks over several hours only require occasional top ups of the charcoal.
I've found it best to leave the gas burner running for slightly longer than the 5 minutes recommended but even so, the bottles last a fair while.
It's a shame that some Australian states decided to not allow it to be sold and that Weber Australia dropped it but it's still a continuing model in other markets and the convenience of the gas assisted charcoal ignition makes this a breeze to use.
After use cleaning is a matter of minutes but at the end of each summer season it gets a complete clean of everything and I did notice this year that the charcoal baskets are getting a bit worn and will need to be replaced but Bunnings do a generic pair for $17 and genuine Weber ones are $40 a pair.
My only gripe is that the handle on the kettle gets very hot and I've burnt myself a couple of times. They apparently redesigned it in 2015 and it is now shielded and the later handles are available as a spare part.

Matador temp probes, rubs, cover, cleaning gear, smoking wood, trays and basting gear. Took his advice and cooked the most incredible spatchcock chicken I have ever consumed. Tender, so juicy, and oh the flavour. Next night pork chops and insane roast spuds and pumpkin. Kept steady temp during the whole cooking process with very little escaping smoke. The stainless racks are so easy to clean, the enameled interior just wiped clean. Lining the water pan with foil and leaving it dry, made cleaning a sinch. Am truly blown away with this extremely well made product. Beats the competition hands down. Just Brilliant.

Charcoal beats gas for taste. Use a chimney and start the grill then prep your food and it takes the same time as gas or frying. Better temperature control and better built then weber products. lightweight, and perfect for casual backyard sessions or camping trips.
The grill heats up well and the built-in thermometer helps with basic temp control. It can handle longer cooks like briskets, though you’ll need to monitor the heat since it’s not super insulated. The charcoal tray and adjustable vents do help but aren’t as precise as higher-end models.
Durability is decent for the price, but being mild steel, it might rust if left outdoors. Also, the stock charcoal could be better, so upgrading to premium lump charcoal is a smart move.
Pros: Budget-friendly, Easy to assemble & portable, Good for first-time smokers
Cons: Thin metal, can rust; Temp control is basic; Stock charcoal is hit or miss
Overall, a great starter smoker for the price. Just don’t expect competition-grade BBQ.

company, and a great deal of thought has gone into all parts of this Kamado, right down to the quality cover.
It is larger than other standard sized Kamados (Weber size grate), but it gets to a stable temperature very quickly and is very fuel efficient. It is very easy to maintain a stable temp on your cook.
The 2 zone cooking does give a different option. Those looking for the classic "bark" finishes on their meat pieces will be very impressed, the offset cooking really does change the outcome here. Of course cooking steaks, burgers etc is a real advantage with this method.
All stainless finishes, quality stand and castors, with simple design of side tables that are very functional. Importantly the hinge is very well made and stable, because these carry a lot of weight.
The retail price in AUS is a very competitive $2,000. I am so happy with this purchase, this product is rolled gold 5 stars!

the left-hand door has been difficult to open and close. After inspecting it closely, the latch appears to be welded crooked and the door itself is visibly misaligned. The result is a door that does not operate smoothly and feels poorly fitted. For a product marketed as premium and handcrafted in Australia, I expected far better fit, finish and attention to detail. I contacted customer service and provided a video demonstrating the issue. After waiting approximately a month for a response, I was told that the stiffness is simply a characteristic of the handmade manufacturing process and not a fault. In my view, "handmade" should not be used as an excuse for poor quality control. There is a significant difference between handcrafted character and obvious manufacturing defects. A crooked latch, misaligned door and poor fitment are quality-control issues, not charming handmade features. What makes this even more disappointing is that the overall fit and finish of my unit feels more like a budget import than a premium product costing over $750. The welding quality, alignment and operation simply do not reflect the price being charged. If I had received this level of workmanship on a much cheaper product, I would still have concerns. At this price point, there should be far greater attention to detail and quality assurance. What has frustrated me most is the company's response. Rather than acknowledging that the latch and door alignment may be defective, I received what felt like a generic explanation that effectively dismissed my concerns. Waiting a month for a response only to be told that obvious fitment issues are part of the product's "handmade" nature was extremely disappointing. Potential buyers should inspect their unit carefully upon delivery and decide for themselves whether the quality, workmanship and customer support justify the premium price tag.
