After several uses of the Ozpig Series 2, I’ve come to the conclusion that while it may have some charm as a rugged, portable fire pit, it’s not a well-executed stove, especially if you're hoping for efficient heat output in cold conditions. The most frustrating design flaw is the chimney size in relation to the combustion chamber. The flue is… Read more
simply too small to create sufficient draw, leading to smoke backing up and pouring out of the lid whenever the door is opened, or worse, causing the fire to choke and go out altogether. This seriously undermines its functionality as a stove, where clean burn and controlled airflow are essential.
When used as an open fire pit (with the door and top open), it’s passable, although it’s very heavy, bulky and expensive compared to a flat pack pit. The heat output is underwhelming and in cold temperatures, it struggles to radiate enough warmth to be genuinely useful unless you're basically hovering over it.
Overall, the Ozpig looks the part and may appeal to those who like the aesthetic of a metal box with legs and a chimney but in terms of actual stove performance, it’s a bit of a letdown. If you’re after reliable heat or practical cooking in a variety of conditions, there are better designed alternatives out there.
Looks good, built tough, slick marketing but let down by poor airflow and limited heating performance.
Vent Adjuster for Door is a separate purchase – Whole thing is well made and solid Would give it a big 5, but after assembly of the Series 2 + Smoker oven combo, I discovered I have had to buy the door vent adjuster and pay another $15 delivery on top. It is considered an accessory !! Show details · 1
Poor communication – Build looks fantastic when it finaly arrived. just don't expect ANY communication from them other than sales emails after you pay. Very slow delivery, non existent communication, no answer to 3 emails. Very sad as spoiled the experience. Show details
Exactly what I wanted – I use the pig 5 out of 7 nights a week Cooks anything from roast to sausages Have done some great pizza in the cooker too wouldn’t be without my pig Show details
Great for camping and at home – Received as a present but have wanted it for years. Initially for camping but have set it up in backyard. Good heat. Lovely bbq meats from it. Purchased from Snowys. Got the charcoal basket and grill plate and a cover for it. Love it! Show details
Excellent cooking system – Very well made and designed. You don't think you need the accessories until you buy them. Including the smoker/oven which has provided some of the tastiest food I have ever cooked. Brought one three months ago and still use it everyday. Too small for a family but great for one or two people. Show details
Excellent bit of gear – Excellent cooker that can be used in many ways. Couldn’t be without my ozpig it comes camping, cooks roasts, smokes meat and can be used an a simple fire pit. Show details
OzPig – Awesome product and quality build. Can't fault it. Gets nice and hot and is easy to cook on. Once you figure out how to burn in the chamber properly it will do everything you need Show details
Oz Pig is The Best – I have an ozpig at home and one at my holiday home. I travelled 17000km around Oz with my first pig. We cooked almost every night. Pizza, steaks, char veg, stir fry, big breakie. Everything tastes better on the pig. Now my kids have bought me the smoker oven last year, and the Big Pig for Chrissie this year. I am hooked. If you do not own… Read more
an Ozpig, you are missing out, simple as that. Cleaning the pig is easy, i use spray rice bran oil on plates and grills, a paint scraper and kitchen paper when the pig is hot. Easy. Cannot reccomend the Pig etc highly enough. Nicko
Beautiful design, excellent functionality poor customer advice – My wife and I were excited with our recent big pig Ozpig model. The design itself is timeless, definitely a focal piece. Cooks great and radiates heat incredibly well. Unfortunately once we had purchased the unit, we needed the chimney offset extension only to find out that this model does not have an extension kit available. This is dissapointing… Read more
as we use it 50% in our patio and 50% when camping. I contacted Ozpig support and this is the response I received " We are advising that if you need to offset the chimney out to go down to your local exhaust shop and they will be able to make something up for you" After paying $750 for the unit, to be told to pay for a custom fabricate chimney is absolutely ludicrous. If you are thinking of buying the big pig model - keep this in mind. Ozpig I suggest you are more tactful and understand the customers point of view. Be proactive and have solutions ready while you develop a permanent solution.
Fantastic – Have a 9 year old ozpig and it has travelled with us around Australia..getting a bit old, so have bought the new large one for home, looking forward to it... Show details
Overpriced Chinese rubbish – At the end of the day it’s just a metal cylinder so how the price can be more than twice as much as other similar products baffles me? Plus the fact it hardly works unless the top is open, the accessories are over priced as well. Would rather have bought a cheaper version as this one has rusted already and won’t ever get taken camping. Show details

I love how it packs away. A great camp stove/fire – It all packs away into a handy carry bag, is easy to assemble (just screw the legs on, put the chimney pieces together, slot the plate in and you are away). With the charcoal basket it is even more flexible in places like caravan parks, etc. The rotisserie is brilliant and makes other campers envious. Brilliant. We use it when camping and also at… Read more
home. There are lots of accessories that make it even more versatile. Not cheap, but will last a long time. We love it.
Cooking or heating. The pig is awesome – Have had the Ozpig for around 6 years now and it’s great. We go from cooking a roast, boiling the billy to using it for a fire place. It packs up small and uses only a small amount of wood compared to a fire pit. Take it camping everywhere and a lot of van parks permit you to have a fire in the pig Show details
Ozpig – Best fire I have ever owned. Great for camping and cooking with the kids. We cook roasts on the spit to curry in the camp ovens and of course nice and contained for roasting marshmallows and boiling hot chocolate. Very good range of accessories available and great price. highly recomend. Show details
Great for camping & backyard parties – I've had my ozpig for around four years, and have enjoyed owning it. I've used it many times in the backyard for parties to help everyone keep warm. It does look after the grass, and takes the flames higher off the grass than your typical firepit. However, if you run it very hot (by shoving timber down its throat) it will still dry out the… Read more
grass beneath it. Not enough to kill it, I've given mine a big water the next day and in a week or so it's come good again. But definitely a dry patch for that time.
I've also taken it camping many times and have enjoyed many campfires around it. We've not done heaps of cooking on it, but have done some steaks on the hotplate as well as marshmallows of course!
Awesome for Cooking and Heating – When searching for a fire pit I came across the OzPig, the integration of the accessories is what finally sold me on one. Great for that open fire flavour to spit roasts and provides good area heating when stoked up a bit. Best when used with well seasoned timber to help prevent smoke Show details
Best thing ever invented for camping – Couldn't live without it now. Been on many camping trips. Great little fire pit, cooking, spit roasting with coals or wood. Lots of accessories. Just brought a water tank to hang off side now have constant hot water with minimal fuss. Sorry just blabbering on because needed fifty words min. But we'll worth it. Show details
The more I use it the better it is – Great little versatile outdoor heater / bbq. Easy to transport and set up when travelling or st home. Have cooked some great meals on the bbq or using a camp oven. Cooks/ heats just as well with wood/ charcoal or heat beads. Active fb page with great suggestions and recipes. Accessories can be expensive. Show details
Brilliant, a must have for camping – Love it. Wouldn't sell it for twice what I paid. Got all the extras. Love cooking on it and keeping warm by the little piggy. The kids love it too, perfect for roasting marshmallows. We even use it at home. Join the Ozpig Facebook group for tips on cooking and inspiration. Show details

Perfect Camping Companion – Great compact cooker/heater. Sit it in under the awning in any weather with the offset flue. Cooks the best steak by far. Easy to use and many add on accessories to please all kinds of cooking methods. Nice warm heat or get a roaring fire going by removing the top plate and use as a fire pot. Show details
Love my pig – Had mine for years best thing ever Added a vented door and offset chimney and it’s mint Can be smoky on startup but use small pieces and get it roaring Extra leg kits a must tho heaps of accessories avail to suit anyone be good if a tad cheaper but overall I’d def buy another Show details
Omg love my pig – Best investment ever love Show details
Love our Pig! – The pig is versatile, lightweight and has numerous accessories that allow you to grill.use a rotisserie or slow cook in a camp oven. It packs into a milk crate for travelling. It will keep you warm, and entertained whilst cooking your dinner. Everyone I know that owns a pig raves about it. I'd recommended for use both camping and at home. Show details
Rip Off – Great idea, but several problems. The main being the chimney is way too small so any fire requires the top to be open and the door open as well. I bought a mesh door, of little benefit. It's not usable under an awning. I'm so bitterly disappointed given I paid $530 for it and the accessories. A complete rip off. Show details
Another Ozpig Fan – We have had this for a year or so now and it has been a little ripper. It packs up beautifully in the Patrol yet I can have it set up and fired up i n 20 minutes. We cook on it and it provides a warmth while we sit around and tell stories. You need to leave the door open to get the fire going well and its sort of mesmerising to look at while you… Read more
sink a few. Its like a kitchen range of old that packs up in your car. It can be a messy beast unless you clean it properly before transporting. Overall these are great and make outdoor live much better.
Willo Northern Irish rides yet again – The Oz Pig is a very handy camp fire , its a compact size about the same sizeof a 9 kg Gas Bottle, the chimney comes with mesh cap to put into the chimney to stop sparks setting fire to the bush simply put it together on a flat surface put in some small sticks plus scrunched up news paper, lite it up and you're all set. You can boil water on it or… Read more
cook great steaks on it using a BBQ plate that you will need to purchase separately . We use ours away camping plus in the back garden, good to use as as fire pit ,super warm just the ticket on a cold night.
6 years on still and still love it!!! – Bought the pig at agfest and took it up to cape York, was great in vic. Kept us warm in most conditions, and provided somewhere to cook and boil water. Packs up very nicely into its self, the supplied bag was worse than useless. The origional door needs to be kept open to keep fire from being smothered, same With the spark arrestor, needs to be… Read more
removed to keep flue drawing (hot tip: add more flue pieces to make flue draw better). They have a great range of accessories, I have most of them including the rotisserie have, it's a ripper too. They are expensive though. It annoys me how they sell a vented door as an accessory ($60 from memory) to make pig work safely. Do keep in mind that it is small and won't keep a crowd warm, if it's windy won't do much to keep you warm, so needs to set up on the far side of your vehicle to be of any use in conditions like that. Its messyto pack up and setup as you get covered in soot and ash, its heavy and is the size of a 9kg gas bottle, rattles to billyo in the vehicle if not padded. If you can put up with these inconveniences then you will have a life long camping companion that is very useful at home as well. Overall I give it a 4 out of 5!
No good – Do not buy these if need more than 3 meter chimney. $600 so unhappy flu is way to small should have option. It smokes out my pergola. Man i paid too much for this and then you cant complain for an Ozzy product you could say no good in pergola area with 3 meter chimney. Too late now. I love it but I'm smoked out can't see TV. Great little addition to the kit – We were doing a trip, two adults two dogs through the Flinders and Northern NSW so we wanted something that we could cook on and keep warm to. The Ozpig was chosen for its compact, easy travel style and easy assembly. It's on the heavy side when you add in the extra pieces of chimney and a second set of legs to get it up to a height it's… Read more
comfortable to sit around. It has all the things you could ask for, grill for the top allows you to BBQ, a hot plate to cook burgers and a warming plate that allows slow cooking of casseroles. We went with the flue extension with a offset in it which allows us to put the unit under the annex and still clear the smoke.
Wood needs to be about the size of a soft drink can and it burns economically but we found not too much heat radiated out from the unit. It worked really well as a stove, not so well as a heater. They are not the cheapest investment either. I guess by the time we accessorised it up there was little change of $700.
Construction is solid and I get the impression it will last a long time. We even us it at home sometimes as the spark arrester on the chimney does a good job of keeping the "fairies" under control.
I would recommend it but ask yourself first what you expect from it. If it's to sit around on a cold night and keep warm, you had better be good friends cause you have to sit close. If you want something to cook on and create that real bush atmosphere then I can't think of anything like it that comes close.
Great for BBQing and Otdoor Heating – After researching the product, I purchased an Ozpig. This due to my daughter wanting an outdoor fire and a fire pit being too smoky and going through a lot of wood. The Ozpig uses not much wood and being a potbelly style, not much smoke when it's heated up. It uses a flue system to carry the smoke away which includes an all important spark… Read more
arrestor. Also, it's a great BBQ. Many accessories are available, such a a grill with drip ring. Nothing tastes better than sausages, steak and rissoles cooked over a wood fire! There's a diffuser to cook toast on or to put the camp oven on when you want to simmer a meal. It comes with a heating tray and a hotplate for eggs, bacon and the like. And a wok for stir frys. Being on removable legs, it's off the ground and so won't burn the grass. More accessories include a larger warming tray, tool rack, heat bead basket, offset flue piece as well as additional straight flue sections if you need a taller flue. A rotisserie for spit roasting, etc. There's a vented door for better burn control and extension leg pieces. An enclosure to prevent contact with the hot stove. And there are carry bags and covers for it. The basic setup is quite compact with the flue sections and removable legs able to fit in the firebox on top of the fire grate. All the components that make up the finished product are made from quality materials and designed to last a long time with appropriate care. My cooking experiences were all very good. I used both the grill and hot plates as well as the camp oven sat on top to brown the meat, then added the diffuser to simmer the stew after that. Turned out as melt-in-your-mouth as a slow cooker! Being an enclosed fire, it may be used where open fires aren't permitted, except on total fire ban days. Only thing is the Ozpig and its accessories are expensive. That said, it IS made from quality materials and will last a long, long time.
