TOOK A PUNT This is my first front loader and previously I would not have even looked at them except the washing machine I had was a top loader with an agitator that started ripping holes in my clothes, so decided to take a punt on a front loader I have been really happy with it , owning it for eleven months now What I really like is the many… Read more

settings I have to choose from

It heats its own water so I have been washing the clothes at 60 degrees, and I couldn't be happier with the whites and the clean smell of my washing when I'm hanging them on the line

There are options for different settings like large linen, gentle cycles, hot , cold, or warm settings and there is even a hygiene option

the clothes are really dry when you remove them from the machine, and apart from the spin cycle the machine is basically completely quiet

It is a lot smaller than a top loader so less fits into a load, that took a bit of getting used to, mine is an eight kg load which I only found out when it was delivered as I thought I ordered a ten kg So if you have a family and loads are large you will need at least the ten kg or larger if possible

The normal settings loads take around fifty-nine minutes, there is a short twenty-minute setting but the hygiene setting will take five hours

Overall I would recommend this washing machine, I'm so happy with how clean my clothes look and how white the whites remain

My washing doesn't rest, it's a daily choir and this washing machine has been working hard and working extremely well – After our brilliant speed queen washer died, I purchased my first ever front loader and matching dryer back in 2016 just before I gave birth to my 2nd child. There's never a good time for a washing machine to die, but before a child arrives is a lot better! Like all new purchases, I like to do my research and will spend endless hours on an array… Read more

of points to justify which product will make the cut. Cost, size, warranty, aesthetics, additional perks ie free delivery / take away old, discounts, and additional extras are the key elements. I also like hearing others personal opinions too. I have no problem paying good money if I think I know a product will last me well.

I narrowed it down to 3 machines, and AEG being the ONLY machine on the market offering 5 years warranty is what finally sold me! Look, I cannot say there has been zero faults, I've had to call the service centre on a few small things that were taken care of with a service technician coming out to fix any issues. (The first issue was a ding to the facade of the machine when it was first delivered. They fixed it the following day, luckily I placed a notation on the delivery docket noticing it straight away).

My machines haven't stopped working since 2016. I can do between 1 to 4 loads daily. I love it. It's not a loud machine either. I can wash every day items with ease, as well as gentle cycle on soft fabrics, to a woollen cycle (straight into a woollen dry cycle afterwards too). I've managed to wash children's rugs, and even large doonas with ease.

I use mainly laundry liquid, sometimes pods in my washing. Sanitiser too. I've stopped using fabric softener for over 2 years now, as we all hear about that product ruining machines, and I don't want to risk a clogged machine.

I love the fact that it eventually switches off after a few notifications that the washing is done, handy when you're not home and the electricals to it are not kept on. And like every household, we always find something that could have been placed in the load that just started.. most times, I can pause the machine and add that odd sock thank goodness, but not when the load is already 30 minutes into the cycle (yes, I love the long 1.5hr or 2hr cycles, it reminds me of European holidays and waiting forever to get the cleanest clothes I've ever seen). However, the machine does have a fancy sensor and will reduce some time in the cycle if its not a full load. There's always a 20 minute cycle to wash one or two light pieces that you need to get out of the way. The machine does have shorter cycles, just press the 'time save' option on most cycles. You could get your washing done in 45 to 50 minutes on a daily wash cycle.

The sales people should be more trained though and teach you a bit more on the use of the machines cycles. When I asked, they just pointed to the dial and gave a brief explanation of, "turn it on here and select this, or this if you have woollens" then we got sidetracked when he pointed to the other freebies/incentives attached to making a purchase of both machines in the month of January. It's obvious the machine has a whole lot more functions which would have been nice to have been told about because I can sure you, all the dial options were daunting at first. I am still yet to read ALL the instructions! who has time for that?

2 years ago, there was a fault in the machine (cannot remember exactly what it was) which had to be taken away to be rectified. I was quite bummed because you don't get a replacement in the meantime, so you have to go without a machine until it's fixed. As it turned out, it wasn't worth fixing, so AEG gave me a brand new machine, which meant 5 years warranty started again, this was exciting! It also meant that the model I had was discontinued so they offered the newer one which happened to be another kg higher in capacity. Winning!

AEG have replaced the rubber ring to the door once (on the newer machine) as it was quite disgusting, however I haven't had an issue again.. the rubber ring door seal could do with a better design though as it's not 100% mould free.

If you buy the washing machine and dryer combo, a stacking kit which also acts as a pull out shelf between the washer and dryer is offered, and quite handy. That was a good design idea for whoever thought of that. Oh, and they have people who deliver and install your new machines too.

I must say, I've had a good run with these machines. I haven't called customer service for 2 years, and in the past, customer service been extremely helpful towards me. Though, I have sensed with my last call they seemed a little more hesitant in their help, but being covid times, everyone around us was quite stringent anyway.

I have heard a lot of negative reviews as well as a lot of positive reviews on these machines, I'm really stumped as to how vast they all are. I guess it must be luck of the draw? I'm quite grateful it's been almost all positive for us.. 99.5% positive if I have to be a little more honest. Would I buy them again? At this stage I'd say yes as they have a great warranty period, and I'd still do my research nonetheless.

Wish this unit would work as good as my 2005 AEG – Purchased the 8000 series washer and dryer as a pair. Our old 2005 AEG washer performed perfectly for 17 years before the bearings started to fail. The condenser dryer is still going. My son has it and uses it weekly. Based on these experiences we expected the same from a new 8000 machines. As with many reviews below we are experiencing the mold… Read more

build-up and a strong musty smell. We too, rub the inside of the door seal after every wash and leave the door open. I have now completed a deep clean of the seal and run a hot wash with vinegar. We never did this with the old one! The new dryer is definitely inferior to our old model. It had simpler controls and performed perfectly. The new dryer will not dry cloths perfectly and we have to hang them to get them acceptable. I certainly wasn't expecting such a degradation in design and capability. I can only imagine the accountants are running the show and not the engineers. I can not recommend these machines. They are not fit for purpose. Poorly designed when compared to the same units built in 2005. Seriously considering swapping them out.

Bought twin pairs and both equally bad - beyond disappointed – I bought two 8kg washers and two 8Kg dryers because I love washing in my large laundry - or I used to. Now I dread it - i never know what surprise I'll end up with. Kids and husband all make jokes that if we want clothes to be ruined and stained then that's where they go... These two washers replaced one large Maytag that lasted 20 years no issue.… Read more

Now, after 2 years of use (they be three years old) it's mostly t-shirts, polos and lighter chino / jeans / pants that gets rewarded with stains. Even clothes washed before first wear come out with stains. I leave the doors open religiously; do weekly 95 degree washes; clean the glass, rubber seals and filters fortnightly, do epsom salt washes; use 1/5th of the recommended detergent; etc etc etc. Bought them mid 2019 and both appear to consistently stain the clothes.

I've started using Preen degreaser to try and remove the stains and that seems to be taking the edge off them after a few attempts. I've attached photos of a very small selection of clothes - it would just depress me further if I captured them all.

The two AEG 8 kgs dryers - they're barely OK - nothing to rave about. Sometime they just don't dry clothes no matter how much I restart - I have to add another wet item; Rubbish for bed linen - that ends up in a ball and keeps stopping telling me its dry when inside ball it's not.... I bought these thinking they were the best - sadly not the case. I want to leave these on nature strip but will pursue customer service now before I do that. I will not ever buy AEG again.

Solid Washer, Worth the Price for Quality – Got myself the AEG LF8C8412A and I gotta say, it's a solid washer. Does a cracking job at cleaning the clothes, real quiet too which is a bonus. The settings are easy enough to use, and it’s got a fair bit of tech inside like smart wash and energy-saving modes. Only downside is it's a bit on the pricier side compared to other brands, but you’re payin’ for quality. Overall, happy with the purchase – gets the job done without all the hassle. Show details

Pleased with purchase – Extensive research. Not easy. Showrooms with operational units difficult/impossible to find. How noisy is the unit? No idea until it gets installed. selected the additional rinse option. 1400 RPM is way too much and the creases will never come out of sheets and shirts. 800 RPM is fine. WiFi connectivity lets the machine communicate to your phone to advise cycle status. Other nice feature is ability for washer to communicate with AEG dryer so just transfer load and press start. Nice. Be aware that AEG do the "installation". The delivery guys were nice but it is up to you to ensure the machine is level and hoses are connected without knots. Initially I had the outlet hose plumbed directly into the S bend of the nearby laundry sink using the little spigot usually utilised for dishwasher drain. Bad idea. Its too low and washer will self siphon (the installation guys did not mention this problem), plus the noise of the water squirting into the S bend was very loud. Fortunately we had an existing 40mm stand pipe and used this for the drain hose. Instructions are OK except for details around the pump filter. This is located behind a flap on the bottom right corner. The machine will alert you if the drain needs cleaning, but instructions are really unclear. Is it an emergency? Then if so run two liters of water through the detergent dispenser. Hmmm. AEG had a great deal with discounts on washer and dryer, plus free installation and free stacking kit and an additional 10% discount if both washer and dryer were purchased together.

Stay clear – Deadset the worst machine we've ever had. Consistently has fault signs even with light load. Washing results are average. After this we'll probably go back to a top loader, so much better. Always seems to have filter problems even though the filter has been serviced. Don't recommend this machine at all. Definitely wouldn't buy another. Show details

Very poor service – Like so many others here, my experience with the customer service provided by AEG/Electrolux has been very poor. Great machine and cleans well – We bought the washer 1 year ago because of the 5 year warranty and great price. Hasn't let us down, cleans well. However, with all the negative reviews and lack of overall replacements parts and options in Australia, we're picking up a Bosch dryer, not an AEG dryer. Satisfied with all aspects of the machine, no mold, easy to maintain, does everything we need. UPDATE 2 YEARS LATER : Still works beautifully! 5 stars! Show details

Clothing contamination from petrochemical stench! – Purchased new Nov 2023. Set up as per instructions and my husband mentioned that there was some sort of oily film inside the drum, so when I did the pre-use clean, 90 degree cotton cycle as per User Manual instructions, I added both detergent and disinfectant. When running, the machine started to smell very strongly of a petrochemical type… Read more

stench. I've never experienced this with any new machine before, but assumed it must be to do with lubricant in moving parts drying or something. When I went to unload my first load however, the stench was all through the clothing, so I washed it again..., then again..., then again..., then again..., then did an additional 3x triple rinses (all over 5 days). When I finally thought what I was still smelling must be the machine components themselves, I unloaded it, but the petrochemical stench is ingrained in all the clothing, so I've bagged it all up to dispose of. I'm absolutely stunned to think that this machine might have passed through any kind of quality control check! AEG said they could send a repair-person, but that as the machine appears to be working, if the repairer can't find anything wrong, then I would be liable for his charges. They also said I should have done an initial 'maintenance clean' with a product that there's absolutely no mention of in the instructions. I've had to battle for AEG to consent to refunding the machine in full (they initially wanted to keep 10% of the purchase price). I won't be compensated for any of the other associated costs, (trailer hire and fuel to collect it when we traveled over an hour from home, hired help to lift into place and now these costs in reverse to return it to their depot, nor the towels, nightwear and underwear I'm having to throw out); and apparently a refund can only be issued 4-6 weeks after return of the machine to their depot. How am I supposed to afford to buy a replacement! For anyone even remotely considering one of these *quite literally stinking* appliances, my recommendation would be to save yourself the grief!

Worst front loader ever – I would have returned it in the first week. Everything from cords in track pants to shirt sleeves and pant legs are screwed up. I have the matching AEG dryer, which doesn’t get the wrinkles out and takes forever to dry anything. If you have something partly dry from the line the dryer will not dry it, even if you choose the time dry option. Show details

Not Overly Impressed - For The Price – I bought my washing machine in 2020. After about 9 months of using my new machine it started leaving black flecks (like tea leaves) all over my washing. outside of the drum and leeches into the wash. I immediately changed to a powder. I was also informed to use vinegar each wash - which I also did with every wash. I was then informed to do a very hot cleaner wash every month or so. I did ALL THESE THINGS and the problem was still there. The technician came out AGAIN for a second time in Jan 2023 and we went through the same process. Nothing wrong with machine he said, I just have to put up with the “tea tea leaf” flecks all over my washing! He said machine programmes these days don’t do a long enough load to break down the detergent properly?! RUBBISH I thought. I do long, hot washes so thought the comment was a bit silly. I’ve been using washing machines for well over 50 years and I have never had this problem before with any machine. I give up. I have this very expensive washer and matching dryer and I feel I am really stuck with them now. Not overly impressed. Please check other reviews before you purchase one of these AEG machines. My machine model is probably discontinued now but PLEASE be aware.

UPDATE: written on 2/4/23. I was asked by Product Review a couple of months ago, if I was prepared to try Mediation with AEG before publishing this review. I certainly agreed to this. I waited and waited and waited for AEG to contact me. For 2 months I heard nothing from AEG. I felt they weren’t interested in mediating with me. This makes me feel like they don’t care one little bit about their customers or their problems. So tonight I publish this review which I wrote months ago. Nothing has changed ….. I still have “tea leaves” all over my washing! I’m still very cranky and disappointed.

The Washing Machine itself is ok but external parts are poorly designed – Not once but twice within 13months (hopefully not a third), the front face of the machine needs to be replaced. The face of the machine is connected to the detergent draw with only two thin pieces of plastic loops holding the two together. Considering every time you use the machine you need to open the draw one would have thought more care was taken when designing this part. Everything else seems to be well made this is a major fail. Show details
