We have an AEG HG75FXA 75cm gas cooktop, installed December 2018; so 7 years old now. From the start the wok burner didn’t stay lit with a press. The second service people to inspect, told me to hold the knob down for 10-15 seconds until it remained on after releasing the knob. That worked for only a short while; so apart from a couple of months,… Read more

we’ve never had the wok burner available to use. Then a year ago, the thermocouple failed on the centre right burner. So, in short we’re disgruntled AEG owners and rather than endeavouring to try to repair by having new thermocouple cables installed; we were recommended by a gas fitter to replace in preference to try to repair. The warranty service and product performance have been very poor

PRIOR REVIEWS of this matter on this website: 1) Wok burner lighting issue – I had a AEG 5-burner cooktop installed 3 weeks ago. (HG75FXA ) I chose this model because I use a wok burner more than any other and like its' position on the far left side, allowing room for other pots. But the wok burner is SO difficult to light! I have to make up to six attempts before the flame will remain alight. I've tried holding the knob down for various lengths of time (up to 30 seconds), releasing it slowly, and turning it to different positions but not once has it remained alight at the first attempt. Other members of the family have also had the same problem. I had a serviceman come and demonstrate but that didn't help. He advised me to hold the knob down for "longer" but 30 seconds is impractical and no guarantee of it staying alight anyway. A wok burner is by no means new technology. I expected better than this. AEG 8y Hi JDON [Name Removed] from AEG here. We would love the opportunity to discuss the concerns you have raised with you. Can you please email me your contact details at customercare@aegaustralia.com.au attention [Name Removed] I look forward to hearing from you soon. Thanks [Name Removed]

2)AEG Gas Cooktop 5 hob – We have just purchased a beautiful new (and expensive) AEG 90cm 5 hob gas cooktop in Perth. It looks amazing and is spacious, supporting pots of various sizes well. We are generally happy apart from having difficulty with lighting the large wok burner. It is the source of much family laughter and even superstition as different people try to see if they can be "the one" to get it to light! Not good enough for a $2000 purchase though!

Logos peel away – Unfortunately I have to agree with the former complaints. I have moved into my new home with this cooktop appliance pre-installed. I cannot clean the stainless steel without leaving significant swirl marks. Unfortunately in one wipe the AEG logo has begun peeling away in addition to the burner icons. I’m disappointed as the cooktop matches the AEG… Read more

oven and dishwasher in this kitchen. I really liked the look and design but this is unsightly. It shouldn’t happen on a $2000 cooktop.

AEG quality is shocking! – From the outset there were problems. The wok burner trivet was blistering and the black paint was peeling off. I contacted AEG and they sent replacements, twice, but it kept happening so I gave up as it was obvious that the trivets were cheap material/paint. I have owned Ilve and Smeg s/steel ovens and when I got the AEG cooktop I noticed the… Read more

stainless steel didn't have the same look as my previous appliances, and that it was difficult/impossible to clean without looking blotchy. I also soon learnt that if i used any sort of detergent then rust marks would show! Now, after 2 years of careful use (and cleaning with olive oil or s/steel cleaner), there is rust all the time. It smells of rust, there are rust marks, and i hate to think what it will look like in another 2 years! It cost $1700 and I'm sooo disappointed that I gave this brand a go!!!

5 Hob Cooker - No issues – We've been using our burner for the past 5 months without any major issues. Hooked it up to propane tanks and we haven't gone through one in that period of time. No wok lighting issue for us and all the markings are intact after multiple cleanings. The 75cm fits really well in our kitchen and doesn't feel cramped when using multiple burners.  Show details

Disappointed about the faded markings on s/s surface – Extremely disappointed about the black symbols and markings on s/s surface they almost started disappearing within the fist six months and there are permanent blemishes on the knobs. spent $1699 on a European brand thinking of better quality, however, end up with poor looking cook top which does not complement my kitchen in any way. I see many bad comments on AGE cook tops.  Show details

AEG Warranty – After previously reviewing an AEG Gas Hotplate product with the markings wearing off without using any abrasive I would like to commend AEG aftersales service and warranty for having replaced the product with no fuss. I note they have changed the markings on this product and they seem to be built into the stainless steel now. Thankyou to AEG and will purchase more of their products.  Show details

Same problem - melting knob and fobbed off, blame the pot – Same model same issue, specifically the right hand knob melted - beggars belief that a European brand would release such a poor design into the market then have a policy to deny there is a problem, in the meantime all the control markings have worn off so there is nothing left to see as far as which knob controls which burner. Will never entertain buying another AEG appliance again in this life.

HG75FX-M - Extremely Disappointed – Researched a new NG cooktop to replace our 16 y.o. 4 burner (inc wok) Chef. Specifically wanted one that had a triple (wok) crown plus another burner with high heat. After multiple visits to various kitchen showrooms, settled on the AEG HG75FX-M, especially considering that the control knobs had been repositioned so as not to come in contact with… Read more

heated pans, as per the previous model. Unfortunately, not one single 'expert' informed me that the other three (out of four) burners were only 'semi-rapid', meaning that their heat input maxes at 6.3 MJ/h. Totally pathetic, considering my ancient Chef had a triple wok burner that heated to 15 MJ/h and high burner that heated to 11 MJ/h. Therefore I have gone from an old four burner cooktop that could simultaneously utilise two burners on fairly intense heat, to the AEG five burner model that only offers the one (wok) burner at anywhere near the power I require. Buyers beware - the 'No. 2' burners may look 'big', but their heating capabilities are extremely inadequate.

AEG HG75FX – Had this hob installed for about 3 months and the knobs right hand knob melted sent a new one in the post. Its happened again also my daughter burnt her hand as the knows get really hot. Got onto AEG and they sent a engineer out who set its a fault with this model Then we had another AEG rep who came out measured the pans etc and went away to… Read more

Position of knobs is sub-optimal – I have to agree with the revious reviewers. We recently had a new kitchen installed - a 20 year dream for us! - and we chose the AEG cooktop. The trouble with the knobs is that they very much restrict the size of pot you can use. For our old stove - a 30 year old workhorse of a thing - the knobs were on the front and you could put anything on… Read more

the top with no worries. I am currently in communication with AEG about the front right knob, which is deformed from the heat. Every other part of our kitchen delights us; we are less than ecstatic about this cooktop. It seems to me to be a design flaw that unless you're very careful about your pots and their placement, you can damage the knobs. I think a cooktop should be almost bombproof - especially when heat is concerned!

Melting knobs and more...stay away from this cooktop! – We were deciding between Miele or AEG and we wanted a Gas 75cm low profile appliance. Unfortunately at the time Miele only offered the 75cm gas with a high profile cast trivet and we wanted the lower profile, so AEG fitted the look we were after. We thought we were buying quality German made appliance at the better end. I am bitterly disappointed… Read more

with our AEG cooktop, the knobs melt and the wok burner failed numerous times. Miele give you stainless steel knobs and AEG only give plastic knobs that melt! Price is comparable to the Miele, slightly cheaper but not worth it when you get plastic knobs.

Within one month of installation, the front right knob melted and had marks of wear. I phoned AEG and they said they had no other reports. They sent me a new knob in the post. Within 6 months the same knob melted again even though we have been so very careful with the heat. Furthermore it is badly chipped and stained just from cooking splashes like spaghetti sauce.

Again a service call and they replaced one knob. All knobs are stained from cooking splashes and scratched just from a pan or utensil hitting them. The knobs are a low heat grade plastic with a thin coat of stainless steel paint over them! We thought we were buying quality. It is 16mths old and I am very disappointed.

Then the wok burner would just turned itself off when I lowered the gas, it just went out and I couldn't turn it on again, It failed to turn on after 6 attempts. I gave up and switched to the large standard burner. This happened many times afterwards. Apparently the gas trivet was not on right, but you could not tell.

Our old Blanco from 1986 had plastic knobs and not one knob melted in 26 yrs and the gas fired every time!!! I regret buying this appliance. At the time low profile gas cooker, German made but now I dislike it so much I cannot find any positives. knobs that melt, stain and chip

Melting knobs!!!! – We've had this cooktop for about 1.5 years. We also have a problem with the knobs melting. This is very disappointing considering the amount we paid for this. We thought we were getting a premium product, but who came up with this terrible design? We purchased it because it seemed nice and flush and there are not a huge amount of 75cm… Read more

Melting knobs – I am totally unhappy with the quality of this AEG cooktop. Purchased a few months ago because of nice design layout and German name brand (hoping for good quality & excellent design specs). However, the cooktop knobs get very hot to the touch, and have already melted several times (they are made out of cheap plastic). I am on my third replacement… Read more

set of knobs & 2 service calls by the technician. I am a proficient cook and do not do anything out of the ordinary with my cooktop. I use the correct sized pans for the burners. The knobs get so hot with regular cooking (on the front 2 burners) that you cannot touch them with bare hands. I know for a fact that others have had this same problem with knobs getting hot and melting. This needs to be rectified; melting knobs are a design flaw!!

Also the stainless steel finish marks badly and seems to be permanently spotted despite meticulous cleaning.

The wok function has now failed; the burner does not ignite properly.

Stovetop was fitted too close to the back, so larger pots are not able to occupy the back burners. Layout

Check the specifications – We chose this 750mm cooktop because it had a great layout. Unlike most other cooktops the wok burner was to the side allowing the use of other burners at the same time. The problem came when it was being installed. Our kitchen designer had looked the depth , width, height of the cooktop before making our benchtop that is the standard 600mm deep.… Read more

But the underside of the cooktop on this model sits quite far forward on the cooktop frame. This means that back of the cooktop now only sits 30mm from my splashback breaking the warranty but more importantly means I cannot use my big pot on the big back burner because it hits the splashback. The cooktop could not be bought any further forward without damaging the front of the cupboards. Overall performance is good and wok burner is fantastic. Slow cooking has been more difficult. Can't slow cook in a big casserole pot on a wok burner and my big pans have melted one of the front knobs because it was too far forward. I have spoken to AEG and they did take note of my concerns but said no one else had reported this as an issue. My kitchen designer tells me it is a design fault of AEG . The designer should have looked more closely at the specifications. This might be the right cooktop for you but it hasn't worked for me. Wok burner is great Layout looks good but did not function well in our situation
