Best mattress ever ! – Have been using this mattress for 8 years now ( on 2nd one as original lost in house fire ) . Discovered by accident at Harvey Norman and it is the best I’ve ever slept on as have chronic spine & neck problems. I sleep on my back now & mattress is so supportive that I hardly move all night . No heat sweating problems either . Would never go back to a conventional mattress . Only needed pumping up once in 3 years . Show details ·  1

Still love it though! – Love this bed as it regulates my body temperature and doesn't get too hot. Inflates and deflates to adjust to what I want. Only downside is that you can't really rotate it to avoid it sagging over time (had it 3-4 years now) and there is a slight wall-like partition in the middle between the air bladders if both sides are set on plush. Also I've… Read more ·  1

Don't waste your time going to court! – I purchased an AHBeard Vitality mattress and electronic base from Harvey Norman Midland WA in Feb 21. I have previously posted how disappointing this product was on this page but what consumers need to know now, is not to waste your time taking the retailer to court. I did this last week and although I thought the compensation I was seeking… Read more

would be forthcoming, I lost the case for not having convincing enough evidence. It was made clear to me that although both air chambers had failed over a period of six months thus rendering the bed useless and eventually causing black mould in both, I needed an engineer in the courtroom to explain to the judge how this came about due to a drop in air pressure, condensation and then mould. I also needed someone from the ATO to tell the judge that charging gst on this ensemble is illegal as it is a duty free item so I lost on that point too. Then there is the electronic base which failed twice and was finally returned to the store after six months. All this the judge seemed to think was okay. After the bed was returned to Harvey Norman, I walked across the road to Bedshed and bought an electronic base and mattress for considerably less than the AHBeard ensemble and as good quality and haven't had a moment's problem with it. I would avoid the combination of these two, AHBeard and Harvey Norman Midland when you can get, better service, in fact, better everything across the road.

AH Beard Vitality mattress worst purchase I've ever made – Had trouble with this mattress from day one which was in Feb 2021 and also trouble with the retailer Harvey Norman. Harvey Norman franchisee but were unable to correct the constant deflating of one side of the mattress. Eventually, both sides of the mattress completely lost all air. Then the metal base literally collapsed and I was unable to raise the head end at all. Reported all this to consumer affairs twice to get some satisfactory response from Harvey Norman who were reluctant to acknowledge a problem. Finally Harvey Norman offered to refund the full amount paid which was $4,500.00. After the bed had been returned, six months after purchase, when it got to the store, the Franchisee phoned me to say there was mould on both internal chambers but no visible sign of water on the outside of the mattress. I visited the store and she was right but instead of investigating the cause of the moisture in the mattress by contacting the manufacturer, she accused me of wetting the mattress myself. Instead of refunding the whole amount she retained the cost of replacing the two mouldy chambers from the refund. She posted a cheque by express post hoping to get rid of me. Also, I was charged gst but I have been told electronic beds are gst free. The bed I purchased six months ago and have slept on every night despite all the discomfort and agro with Harvey Norman is now on the floor of their store being sold to some unsuspecting purchased as a new mattress. Upon investigating how mould could get inside a mattress, I discovered this. "If a compressor fails, there is a drop in pressure and can cause condensation resulting in mould." I have been in contact with the Public Health Dept of WA and this is what they said in answer to my question about mould in a mattress " Mould can certainly cause a number of health issues, the main ones being allergy responses, such as runny nose, headache, itchy eyes, etc. However mould can also worsen existing respiratory ailments, such as asthma and bronchitis."

Best mattress ever – My wife and I have never been happy with previous mattresses. the mattress over three years and because we can adjust each side we both have our ideal firmness and great support. Although it has air bladders in place of springs, they are are very heavy duty and do not loose air. In all other respects the mattress feels like a regular mattress and has all the usual padding and comfort layers of a traditional mattress. We just need to adjust it a couple of times a year to allow for temperature changes and that is done in seconds from the remote control. The mattress does not settle like a sprung mattress and does not need turning. What can I say- just try it and see for yourself.

This Bed has been a life saver for my back – I have Facet Joint Arthritis and Degenerative Disc Disease. We originally purchased the Sleep Number Sanctuary Mattress over 8 yrs ago. what I had actually bought. It turned out to be the best mattress purchase we've made. In the last couple of months it had started to lose air over night and during the day, this started to affect my back. We started looking for a new mattress and I was amazed at how my back started to ache after half an hour of trying mattresses. They weren't as comfortable as my Sleep Number Sanctuary even when it was losing air, in fact they were too soft. Plush is the new word for mattress comfort these day and if you have a look at the cut out that most stores display it's all just layers of foam over the springs. Whilst trying the mattresses out I released I just wanted my Sleep Number Sanctuary to not lose air, of course I had forgotten the 25 yr pro rata warranty. So I called AH Beard logged a service call and couldn't be happier with the results. The Customers service was excellent the Service guys were fantastic and I ended up with 2 new bladders of the newer Sleepsense range all for a couple of hundred dollars. This has returned my bed back into the wonderful sanctuary it has been for the last 8 years. Oh and if you think I'm a plant, I'm not I am a genuine customer.

Worst Mattess – For the first 3 months this mattress was wonderful, then it started to sag. I sleep middle, side, other side and turned the mattress head to toe every other week. it back they tried to return it saying it was fixed, I queried the issue they said they had replaced the top of the mattress. I read the other reviews here, clearly this is how they handle this situation and clearly the customer gives up eventually and throws the mattress away. This bed is nothing but a mattress topper on a blow up bed so it will only ever be ok for a few months then, the topper will need to be replaced again. Given it has a 10 year warranty it will be a lot of hassle for a mattress that is really only good for a few months at a time.

I have now called AH beard 6 times and sent 3 emails, the customer service manager Paige Featherstone sent me a blanket email saying the warranty Does not cover comfort wear tear and body signatures, so I assume she is saying this applies for someone of 55kg sleeping on one of their mattresses in the short term. It’s now been two weeks I have resent the email to her email and left her a phone message. My next step will have to be to take this to the ACC.

The few good reviews for the product are clearly either false or written very shortly after purchasing the bed.

DO NOT BUY THIS BED or From this company, you have been warned.

were both 'sinking' on our sides so felt like we were in a hammock with a big lump in the middle between us. The two sinkholes and lump were even visually apparent when the bed was made INCLUDING when the settings were on Firm!! As a result, we woke up every single time we wanted to turn over. I even found getting out of it a mission due to it riding up on the sides and each morning we both woke with seriously sore hips, backs and shoulder blades - and we are not old enough for that yet! Already noticed a huge difference with our new mattress in less than a week. Pain is gone, room to spread out as the mattress is flat, no constant waking and easy to get up from in the morning. It had got to the stage where we could no longer stand this one and I dreaded getting into it. We seriously would never recommend this mattress to anyone as it is nothing but a seriously overpriced airbed. PS I am from NZ but no option for that even though we bought it at Harvey Normans in Auckland and luckily for Kiwi's, this mattress is no longer sold in NZ.......

The SleepSence is an excellent bed – After our experiences with SleepSense beds we feel we are very well informed about them – good and not so good and therefore wish to help prospective buyers with our experiences as follows:- 1/. We love our King Size SleepSense bed. 2/. When at our previous unit we purchased a SleepSense bed and were very happy with it. When we sold that… Read more ·  1

unit, we sold it fully furnished including our wonderful SleepSense bed. After the new owners settled in they let us know that they too love it. After we moved and settled into to our new location, because we were so pleased with our previous SleepSense bed, we bought another SleepSense bed.

3/. Unfortunately, this time when our new bed was installed the retailers delivery men did not sufficiently implement the manufacturers installation technical requirements of the mattress and thus failed to install it correctly - failed to unzip the base of the mattress and separate/arrange the location and angle of the 2 air tubes (one for each bedhead end) in the correct location. As a consequence of this incorrect tube arrangement, the air tube (to the pump) to my side of the bed had a kink in it. This kink in the tube resulted in an air blockage which disrupted the pressure readings, so it could not be adjusted correctly. This meant that I could not control the bladder setting for my side of the bed.

The manufacturer took the mattress back to the factory, disassembled the mattress and replaced the bladders, pump, tubes, remote, bedding material top, etc, delivered it and installed it correctly. In so doing provided us with our wonderful bed in perfect condition. We each have our own comfort settings and we are both fully satisfied. The SleepSense mattress works exactly like the manufacturer warrants it should. We love it.

4./ Throughout this time Michelle (customer relations manager for Domayne) acted in an excellent manner and worked seamlessly with the manufacturer to resolve our concerns. Both the manufacturer and the retailer acted with total professionalism to ensure we were fully satisfied – and we are.

Looks and feels like a conventional mattress except that it has 2 air bladders integrated into the design/build of the supported mattress – therefore the firmness of each side is individually controlled with the remote controller. This is the key benefit of the SleepSence mattress.

5/. Tips -

• Before ordering,

 Check the demo model for total height (legs plus base plus mattress). We got drawers in the base of ours which made the base a little bit higher. Therefore, we chose to have the shorter legs on the base. So make sure you measure the height from the floor to get the correct total height for you.

 Check if you really need the extra topping on the alternative SleepSence mattress. From our experience we chose not to have the topping or the extra height of the topping.

• Before the installers leave,

 Look and visually check as they install it to make sure it is correctly installed with the tubes from each end of the mattress and that there are no kinks in the air tubes.

 Lie down on the bed and test it with the remote before you sign the delivery receipt (and they leave). Test that each side inflates and deflates via the remote.

• App

 You can download the App and (using Bluetooth) control the settings from your mobile phone/tablet.

Piece of excrement – Worse decision to buy one of these beds. Dont waste your money. Over priced and fails to meet the sales pitch info and hype. If it didn't have so much toxic material in it I would put match to it. Brilliant design and comfort beyond expectations – The most adaptable and independent style of mattress concept available with your partner. Back pain has disappeared for the first time since getting rid of the traditional mattress design ie springs after many years. Having a king spit has finally separated the motion at night with a restless partner that uniquely allows also the facility of lifting the bed at head, foot or in a zero gravity position which is very comfortable. Wouldn't recommend – Owned the new Sleep Sense for about 6 months now, but wouldn't recommend. While it is fairly comfortable on the firmest setting (although my wife really finds it uncomfortable), there are a lot of issues with this mattress, which they fail to mention when selling it: 1. The "new revolutionary spring-less technology" is a complete sham. If you… Read more

unzip the mattress, you'll see its just two normal inflatable camping mattresses inside. I was gobsmacked at the sight of this.

2. The bed comes with a bulky electrical box that needs to be plugged in at all times, so if you have an ensemble base and the bed is pushed up against a wall, it becomes a nightmare, depending where your power outlet is... AND contrary to what they advise, the box needs to be plugged in all the time as the mattress leaks air.

3. Any setting softer than "medium firm" is completely useless. The mattress just becomes concaved since there is hardly any air left in the camping mattresses. Any softer settings (such as "plush setting") is hilarious to see, because it ceases becoming a mattress and becomes more like an inadequate hammock.

4. I have contacted AH Beard on numerous occasions to come out and inspect the mattress to ensure its not faulty (as the softer settings are completely absurd), and they have stood me up twice (which was annoying as I had to come home from work to wait) and now I've found the company is having some "internal issues" making it impossible to get any further response / call back from them.

We paid half price ($2500) due to a special sale they were having, but I would definitely NOT buy another Sleep Sense, especially since they range up to $10,000!! I suggest staying with a spring bed, but try to avoid AH Beard, or any Harvey Norman mattresses for that matter.

Comfort, support, firmness - as you like it, but some problems for the price – So you want a firm mattress - Perhaps. You want a soft mattress - Perhaps. Then what precisely do you want? Maybe a bed that has variable firmness and its reclining position can also be changed AH Beard make a mattress/ base system called Sleepsense that uses Bluetooth connected devices to • Adjust the bed (raise and lower the base… Read more

and head, independently)

• Make it vibrate (low, medium and high for 10 minute intervals up to 30 mins)

• Alter the firmness (very soft plush to firm)

• Monitor how you slept with a message to your tablet waiting for you in the morning

Retail price is up to $12,200 but you should be able to get it for a lot less. The high price means that any review will tend to be a bit more critical. Really good value and long use life in a bed system is what you want at that price.

Benefits and features:

Sleeping comfort is variable as to firmness and you can adjust each side as well as the bed inclination. Firmness is altered with a remote controlled air pump controlling each side.

Got poor leg circulation – raise the base: stomach or breathing problems and need your torso a bit higher – raise the head; all using a remote. Bed position is operated by motors that raise and lowers the base or head using a remote too, all while you recline.

An app downloaded from the app store can also be used to adjust the bed base, mattress firmness and massage length and strength and set up the beddit system. More about beddit later.

The Good and the Bad:

Lots of motors and devices for lots of future problems but there is a 10 year warranty, which sounds reassuring but exactly what it covers is important given the investment. Bluetooth itself is inexpensive but if the system is dependent on it, then the warranty of the electronics is most important. The base is steel and substantial. As for the Bluetooth devices, as they are electronic we all know such devices can mysteriously fail within that black box and Bluetooth workings are indeed mysterious.

The remotes supplied with the bed all work most satisfactorily but the app has problems in pairing via Bluetooth to the black boxes. A sleep monitoring system (beddit) is dependent wholly on the use of the app, which, for our bed, often has difficulty in connecting to each bed side. Burly truckers could not set up the devices on delivery, of course. Changing black boxes later did not help to solve the connection problems. Support by AH Beard located in Brisbane was reasonable with 3 visits and a 'coupla' weeks waiting but was limited by the technical training of the delivery people, which, as one would think, is not good.

The unsuccessful paring of devices can be frustrating should you rely on the app because Bluetooth connection appears to be so easily lost and a reconnect requires the pressing of a button in the remote, (or was that the black box?); a bit of a challenge in remembering how to do later so keep the manual handy. A reset may be required and may not work even though the app shows all devices connected or trying to pair. Resetting and re-pairing of a device takes time and if you have to do it each time you get into bed, forget it. Support staff get confused, questioning your wifi when the technology is really Bluetooth. Red herrings there.

We did not get back to Beards for a 4th rectification visit because we now ignore the app and mainly use the remotes. Further, we were told the bed has a 10 year warranty so urgency in a fix is not a priority. Maybe a new version of the app will be available fixing the Bluetooth connectivity problem. But be aware that some aspects of the sleepsense system only have a 12 month warranty; not nearly good enough given the retail system price. Means I'll need to get back to AH Beard sooner than I thought. Perhaps the system should come with remotes for both bed sides and so forget the app and the sleepsense monitoring. Also be aware that our bed was not split down the middle so the base positioning remote controlled both bed sides at the same time and the position may not suit both partners ideally. However, the firmness can be separately controlled for each side to suit individual preference. The sleep tracker only works for one bed occupant at a time; though a call to the Beard site could not confirm this.

The massage via vibration motors under the mattress is light and nice but won’t improve your sex life as it is designed to be calming and resting rather than vigorous and exciting. Sleep is what it is designed for given it is controlled by a timer up to 30 minutes. Hopefully, you should be well into la la land by then.

Conclusions:

Comfort, support and firmness; well you can make those match your needs, precisely. Overall, we like the concept and flexibility of the bed system but wonder about its longevity given potential problems with its motorised remote controlled technology and Bluetooth device connectivity. I feel a much better warranty may be needed in the long term given the dependence of the system on technology. A list of mobile phone brands and android tablets that work successfully with the Sleepsense system would be useful should the Bluetooth connectivity be related to Bluetooth versions and phone brands. The black magic boxes may well be slightly different in applications or the app works well with certain brands. This will require me to get other mobile brands and tablets to verify.

The all-important warranty

Sleepsense mattress is covered by a 10 year guarantee, which means A.H. Beard will repair the product if a defect appears as a result of faulty materials or workmanship. That is normal, however, the Beddit sleep tracker is guaranteed for a period of 12 months. Why so short if it is so much an important and necessary part of the Sleepsence concept? The adjustable base has a 10 Year Guarantee. P&H fee applies after 2 years for replacement parts. What parts need replacement and are they user replaceable? Does this warranty include the electronics? Best get your warranty details in writing from your retailer rather than wait 13 months to find out, eh? Further, the 10 year warranty may well prorate over 10 years , so check.

gimmicky... Until we actually tried it out. Finally! We could customise each size. The salesman talked about "micro adjustments through the night". - That does not happen, you set your firmness and that is it. I found when the ambient temp got warmer I had to reset the firmness. No biggy - I did it while I was on my device. My husband had an aching back and reset his side again to accommodate. Although it does come with one remote, you can download the app and control it from there. It took me about two weeks to get over the the price I paid for an air mattress, but once I did and 4 months on I can honestly say this is the best mattress I have owned.
