I received outstanding service when changing my House & Contents insurance from my existing home to my newly bought house. We had shopped around and found the AHM Home insurance the best value for money! Have used AHM for over 10 years now! Show details · 1
Not helpful at all. I was honest and transparent in listing prior claims when applying for a policy. 1 claim was withdrawn and the other was fridge contents (after cyclone Alfred). The premium went up by over $1,000 as a result, more than I received! There was zero discretion, zero attempt to understand the concern. Show details

still not Happy – Even though Policy was cheaper than our x insurer I still feel ripped off . We have made 1 claim of $700 since 1972 and feel as though am being got at. If you use post codes to set your prices ,in my case that brings in towns 20 to 30 kilo. away that flood . There's probably. 10 different towns with same postcode 2321 . Show details · 1

Their quote was $2000 more than my current insurer wbat a rip off and they had my contents at 145000 which is insanely incorrect as my contents amount is $70000 and no where would they allow me to change the contents amount Show details

Absolutely terrible service, do not use – Absolute disgraceful service, avoid at all costs. We lodged a home and contents claim on May 1st, we're in September and the issues are still not resolved. Our house has been flooded 5 times and counting, furniture is ruined for to bring damaged various times now. The house has several safety dangerous issues that we've been left to live in… Read more
with our 2 young toddlers. There is mould in our 1 year olds bedroom, cracked skylights above her bed, and water ingress around power. AHM have done nothing to address these issues in over 5 months, whilst 2 of 4 of our bedrooms remain unsafe to use.
Ahm have done everything they can to get out of the claim, including getting a second builder to do a report because the first builder reported they must fix the issues. It's disgraceful. I escalated the matter to their escalations team, who and then started ignoring us. Everytime I call it's a 40 minute wait, then they advise the agent handling the matter isn't available, or any management, then they promise to call back but never do.
I've send 30 emails and called 25 times over 5 months to get a resolution. Still no progress.
I have now raised cases with the ACCC and fair trading against AHM. I have legal representation engaged and will pursue this legally next.
Do not use this company for home and contents. I suggest AHM stick to their core health insurance services, because they are not structured for home and contents.

Would not recommend – Made a claim for the fixing of my roof due to a horrible storm in Melbourne (literally the power was out for a day nearly all around Melbourne). They made it so difficult to claim. They take months to reply to emails about my claim submission. I provided proof from the contractor hired to fix the leakage and roof, and AHM still said they couldn’t… Read more

Seriously good value for money – I found the premium to be almost identical to the RAC policy we had in place BUT the value of the home and contents cover was significantly greater with AHM so it was a "no brainer" to switch to AHM. Show details · 1

Difficult to work with and uncompassionate – Total house loss due to fire. Our friends had their house insured for $495k, the sum calculated using 2 online tools. AHM are wanting to cashout at $495k because they are getting quotes for over $600k for the rebuild. So they are denying the services of managing the rebuild because either their online calculator undervalues the cost of rebuild or… Read more
their rebuilders are quoting high numbers to avoid AHM having to manage the rebuild. Either way it is putting a lot of pressure on people who are being forced to manage the rebuild of a house when they thought they had an insurance company for that. Other problems have also been: very slow progress, they sent in their fire investigator 7 weeks after the fire and the day after the building where the fire started had been demolish - that cannot be professional, they said they had special support for vulnerable people and then just sent a link to Beyond Blue. Not recommended.

Loyalty tax imposed – I don't agree with the admin fee that added to my renewal of my contents insurance. After all, there's nothing new added to the policy and I didn't require any assistance. Shock at first months premium – I was not surprised at the increase in the premium but was shocked and disappointed that I was charged extra for the first month as some sort of a set up fee.
