If you chose ANY other builder in WA, you will be better off! – The warning signs were there from the beginning, getting off the phone with an extremely rude AK Homes Sales Rep named [name removed], however we were originally advised on the quality and attention to detail of this company from a few people, hence we continued forward with our design and build. And it only progressively got worse from this point. The original carpenter (who started 2 months late) was unable to build the house square and a new carpenter was brought on a few weeks later to pickup the pieces and fix a brand new, $450K home. We went through a number of AK supervisors over the build and when we requested updates, would not get returned phone calls or emails. Our footings which hold the house were built incorrectly (discovered when we had an independent contractor brought in to access and confirm our concerns) and had to be fixed at the time of moving in. Window and door frames were delivered SO EARLY in the build they peeled and cracked but still were installed into our home. These were brought up in a final inspection and AK Homes coordinated a very dismal effort to fix (many of the frames have reverted back as also advised by our final inspector). The septics were both apparently under-quoted by AK (we were charged an additional $8k during the build) and then when they were finally installed, were not to industry standards and were ordered by our local council to rectify. To top it off, we had stromwater drains installed which don't drain or work, many issues with the houses flooring being uneven & boards bending (which required further fixing) and much more. I wont even get onto finishings with paint etc.
And this is all just off my head! There are more items to list but you can see the trend with this company.
Never have i been so disappointed in the quality and workmanship of a company and completely shocked at what $450K doesn't get you. Furthermore, we still have outstanding maintenance items that have not been rectified 2 years later!
Do yourself a favor and build with ANYONE else.
If you require further information or would like photos/emails of anything, please feel free to comment with your email and i will be in direct contact.

Fantastic Company – We have just built with AK homes and I cannot say enough good things about them. From the initial quoting period to the handover of the keys, they were the epitome of professionalism. The staff at AK were just unreal to deal with, everything was done to the highest standard, within budget and on time. We have been so happy with the whole process and have received nothing but compliments on our home. After speaking to friends, we're aware that it is a rarity to find a builder you can trust - we'd definitely build with them again.

Hi ‘Tammy’ I have sent a private message to you some time ago which you haven’t responded to. I can’t match your posted contract date and location to an existing Clients information but your home is currently within the six month maintenance phase. You would have recently received a form from our office asking for any Maintenance issues to be outlined and sent back to us. If you do have ’a vast number of repairs’ this Form would be the appropriate format to list them and send them in to us.
