In the time that it took us to secure our desired block of land (which was extremely competitive!), gather all the information required to consider various options and customisations for our floorplan, price them all, collate & compile the final decisions, and sign the draft contract, Abel was very responsive, responding even in the late hours of the night and he remained committed to the pricing he quoted us verbally when preparing the final contract. As we had all the numbers upfront, and at no point did my partner and I feel like we couldn't make a decision because any information we requested was being withheld from us or anything like that. The one time we did express our worries that we might not find time to finalise all our decisions (as we both work full-time jobs!), Abel was understanding and assured us that we would not be signing any contracts until my partner and I were comfortable and confident with our decisions - even if that meant delaying until the next month. dales again and celebrations and decided to go celebrations because they were better value and I was told they use all the same trades and site managers and we could still choose the same finishes and upgrades so I expected the same kind of treatment as last time. Bad decision.

The communcation throughout the entire process was garbage, they kept stuffing up and missing things or putting wrong items in the house because they had no attention to detail and were going off wrong plans. When we tried to make contact we would have to leave messages over and over and id never get a call back because everyone is "always in a meeting or away from their desk". When we wanted to change small things or pointed out wrong things they made it look like it was our fault and wanted to charge us $500 every time. Luckily we had signed documentation to show otherwise.

Ive moved in and its been 3 weeks and Im still chasing them up to fix things from PCI and ive found extra issues which ive raised and been told "are well you had your PCI inspection so not our fault". They were suppose to rectify all items within the 10 days between inspection and final payment and I am still waiting for items to be fixed or finished.

They never cleaned our house properly too, dust and sand everywhere in the cupboards, on the cupboards, doors, floors, windows, trims the whole lot. Myself and my wife had to clean all the cupboards as we put things in because they didnt do anything, id say at best they mopped the floor.

The paint they provided was terrible quality wattyl brand, you hardly touch it and marks and you cant get them off the walls no matter how much you scrub, even my home theatre installer pointed out he ever so slightly rubbed the wall and couldnt get the mark off the wall. My house is 3 weeks old and looks like its been lived in already for 2 years. I painted my last house with dulux before we sold it and there wasnt a mark on it for 6 months prior to moving with 2 kids and was so easy to just wipe off!

My airconditioning unit failed the first week we moved in so had to get that fixed as soon as we got in the house because they didnt test it properly.

We requested a slight change to the downlight locations before being installed so that fans didnt cause shadowing and also to reduce moving them after hand over because its very hard to patch 90mm downlight holes and they refused to just move some downlights out a tiny bit. We had to pay them $500 and forfeit all our downlights including installation because they were unwilling to be cooperate.

We found out we didnt have a cut out for the dryer so now I have to pay someone to come and cut my cabinets so i can fit my drain pipe and water line.

Now im dealing with a rain overflow issue where rain water gushes off my roof and onto the ground when it rains because there is no gutters/downpipes on the top section of my roof and so when the water hits the valley and runs into the lower gutter it just rushes off the roof and all over my driveway/porch. Going to need a roofer to come and provide extra drainage and fix the run off issues I have now.

Honestly, I could go on and on.

I will never build with ABN group again, dale alcock doesnt stand behind his brand anymore and they hide behind smoke and mirrors with their fancy building. Just the sheer amount of staff change overs in the 9 months I built with them is proof that no one wants to work there either.

Celebrations? Better going with BGC! Avoid at all costs.

variation payments, but once i signed the Documents suddenly they need proof of full funds before construction . But surprise surprise, this was never mentioned in all previous interaction .

And then again, what was the need for the payment plan if all along they needed full payments ?

Now they are threatening me that ooh we wont proceed to construction until you show that you have the funds . Well, should you not have asked it before ?

Incredibly disappointing . Now it looks like you are unprepared and don't have the funds , while all along you were made to believe that you would split the payments into instalments

Be very careful and get everything in writing

The admin stage has taken far longer than advised. We were told it would take 5–6 months, but we are now approaching 7 months and construction has still not started, despite our land already being titled. plans were still being finalised. Most recently, delays were attributed to clarifying a GPO location, which we had already confirmed.

Overall, we are very disappointed with how long the admin stage has taken and the lack of clear, consistent timelines.

“Don’t decide anything. Just go there on the weekend, have lunch at one of the cafes and see if you can picture yourself building a home there.” We did exactly that.

Fast forward to October 2026, and we are moving into that home this week.

From helping us understand our options at the beginning to supporting us whenever something needed attention during the build, Nick stayed part of the journey. He promised an eight-month build from the slab down and it was completed in closer to seven. The wider team was also incredibly accommodating when we needed some flexibility along the way.

What I appreciate most about Nick is how personal he makes the experience feel. I know he works with many clients, but you genuinely feel that he knows your journey and is there when you need him. Over time, we also learned to trust his experience because he and the team truly know what they are doing.

I started this journey reluctant and uncertain, and I am finishing it incredibly happy that Nick encouraged us to explore the possibility. If we ever build again, I know exactly where I will start.

We had Shaun as our SS and he was very detailed the whole build which we were very impressed with and made sure the house came out perfect which it definitely did because with all of our private building inspectors reports nothing major got noted. We built through winter and the Christmas break and the build was only 9 months which we were impressed with.
