Be bright and avoid Aldi’s bug light – Rob L has described it perfectly. It has to be taken down every morning and recharged. I think the solar panel is painted on, it’s useless. Show details

Cheap plastic solar powered bug zapper & lantern that is disposable and should be (disposed of) – I bought this item from Aldi for nearly $50. I opened the box and read the instructions and found that (i) the light/globe is not replaceable so once it blows the whole item has to be discarded; and (ii) the battery is also not replaceable and when the battery no longer functions the whole bug zapper has to be thrown away. kick-off, there are reasons not to purchase this item. I charged it up using the charging port and put the the bug zapper outside. It seemed fine. The next night I checked that it had turned on automatically but is had not done so. I went to bring it back inside but the stupid plastic handle popped out of one side. This handle is practically useless as it not only pops out easily but it is very hard to pick up as there is no indentation for your fingers to grip it (when it is resting). There are 4 positions for the switch to be used. There is a plastic cover over the switch that unfortunately makes it not only very hard to see what selection you have made but it makes it very hard to move the switch at all. This cover soon started coming out itself and in the end I just pulled it all the way out. This cover is obviously for water protection but it is a very cheap way to do so and as I said, it is very annoying! Whether the unit will work properly again is yet to be seen but knowing what I do now, there is no way I would have bought it and no way could I recommend this item at all. The idea was good but the "production" is a failure!
