Not worth the effort – This bbq is a complete waste of time and effort. Took this one out for lunch to the park one day. While our friends bbq had lunch ready in 20 minutes our Aldi bbq was still going for another 20 minutes or more. It’s sooo slow to cook, plus it has uneven heat distribution. Complete waste of money. We have purchased a WebberQ now, the best decision we’ve made.  Show details

Dangerous unit – First time cooking sausages over the grill, the gas flame exploded with 50cm high flames. Even turning of the gas off at the bottle, the flames still kept leaping up for 30 seconds. Very dangerous, totally blackened the food. Not safe do not use without tin foil over grill plate fat fire was scary.  Show details

Great little BBQ for a small family – We were going to buy a weber BBQ but instead saw one at Aldi that looks excactly the same and for a third of the price, we thought we would give it a go and I am so glad we did it's portable or you can put it in its stand , there are three in our family and I must say it's just the best and to top it off it's easy to clean as well  Show details

NO Wonder its discontinued – If you want to stand and watch your meat cook this could work for the price range but you realy get what you pay for. The hotplate coating came off after using it 3 times. the grill part is thin and flimsy. the flame cover rusted in 4 months and it was not even out doors. cleaning is a nightmare.  Show details

Poor performance – The gas was unable to regulated, it is either flat out or stop and burnt what ever was cooking. When cleaning the plate the 'non stick' surface came off with the first scrub.

Perfect for one or two people – I bought it just for cooking quick steaks and snags and have found it to be great. If you follow the instruction manual is says to cook with the lid closed. I have had the juiciest steaks with the best little grills marks on them. I am super impressed.

Rather watch paint dry - Low heat output, and bulky are its biggest faults – Bought this a while back and finally trading it in for something more reliable. It's biggest fault is its very low heat output (not sure on BTU's) which means it takes ages to cook anything. The cooking surface is half plate, half rack but the real issue is the underlying burner pipe only runs 3/4 the length of the cooking tray, meaning you… Read more

effectively only get half the cooking surface you'd expect. The small, thin, single burner output pipe running only 3/4 the length of the middle of the bbq means you also get a very uneven and isolated cooking surface.

The rack side seems only good for (trying to) keep things warm. I was only ever able to cook food effectively (but slowly) on the plate part of the cooker. The only time it did get any form of real heat was when the lid was kept closed and it provided a form of 'thermal' cooking.

I also had a problem with the LPG fitting and hose being too short and the fitting requiring my 2kg LPG to have to sit too close to the burner for my liking.

For the cooking surface and functionality this bbq is far too bulky and in hindsight there are much more compact, cheaper bbq stove options out there that will do a much better job.

On the plus side, if sitting it on a camp table the (foldable) legs did provide some benefit in elevating the BBQ to allow more room around it and the foldable 'wings' each side provides good surface areas to sit utensils, plates or cooking accessories.

All in all though, this product is definitely not value for money or truly functional and I would avoid buying. It's main purpose as a 'compact' 'bbq' is severely flawed. Foldable legs, large foldable 'wing' plates either side of burner LOW heat output, very slow to cook, uneven cooking surface, bulky

Aldi Portable Gas BBQ – Value for money! We have a 4 burner w/side wok burner which is great for bigger gatherings. Our son has the ALDI portable BBQ and we'd noticed how handy it was: for a steak for 2 to 4 so now have one we use regularly, whilst it is not a webber it certainly does a reasonable job. AND did not cost hundreds of $'s! I am sure we will get more than… Read more

No Heat, No Flavour, I took it back for refund – Hooked it up and there was just no heats , burners are low MJ's and i was lucky to have lunch within 45 Minutes....It will not feed the wild life let alone the Family, It was not a great exprience at all, the body is painted and so after a few uses the paint comes off
