A great BBQ for the first timers! – ------ 3.25 year update ----- Thought I'd log on and tell you how it's going. 1. We got to use this twice now since I last updated it here. It had come with the BBQ cover that is covered in dust. I removed it - and out came 2 fat cockroaches! :( Our gas cylinder is almost empty - with the needle threateningly close to the red mark. I pressed the… Read more

ignition - and the burner ignited right away! How cool was that. 2. The first time we cooked chicken on the right burner, and vegetables and stuff on the flat half-plate that I mentioned about. Perfect result. We use a thermometer to check if the meat is done as we don't eat that often and I rely on the instrument rather than my judgement. Cooked like a charm. 3. We even toasted bagels on the flat half-plate and they don't get charred like the did if placed on the grill, as the flames lick the bread directly.

4. The 2nd time we grilled lamb burger patties. I put half on the grill, half on the flat plate. Both came out nice. I prefer the grill as the fat drips down - and my son prefers the flat coz he wants them with the fat! :)

5. I know we haven't cooked like whole chicken or anything more serious - but the BBQ has never let us down, any time we used it.

6. Cleaning has been quite easy. Most of the times, I just use the wire brush to and normal BBQ tools to clean the grill. Like I''d mentioned earlier, once a season, just replace the aluminum sheet I use to cover the lower part and we are all set!

Will definitely recommend this - if you are a small family with occasional guests. 02 Feb 2026 ---- 2.5 year update ---- 04 June 2025:

Thought I should update you on how this is going!

1. We have barely used this in the past 1 year - mainly because we have been very busy. The last time we used it was in Jan 2025 when my in-laws visited us. I just removed the cover and it fired up like magic! How good it felt!

Since our purchase we have got an addtional flat half-plate grill from BBQ Galore (for $99 - which is expensive!) for the veggies - my wife prefers them over meat. We are loving it!

2. Cleaning this has been my job, and we continue using the aluminium foil to cover the insides. We saw that BBQ galore *does* sell dedicated liners for this but at $29 a pop - seemed highway robbery to me! Just use the regular aluminium foil - and you are good. Also I have started lining the disposable BBQ aluminum tray that sits at the bottom to collect the fat with foil as well. Just remove the foil - and voila! You save on a BBQ tray as well! I prefer soaking the grill plates in hot soapy water for an hour to clean it when I've used it many times. When closing the BBQ for the season - just pop the grilles into the dishwasher. Yes, they are dishwasher safe! The burner alas needs to be hand washed - so hot soapy water soak it is. It has got discoloured after use - but works just fine.

3. We have also got a electric grill that sits on the kitchen bench top since we got this. We use that mainly for grilling sandwiches - they kinda burn when we use the BBQ.

So we still love our BBQ and still happy with our purchase after almost 2.5 years of having owned it!

--------------------- Original review in Nov 2022 --------------------

Since we relocated we'd been waiting for the sun - and the sky has been downcast in Melbourne. My wife had been bugging me for a BBQ and I was putting it off - she eats like a squirrel, is mainly a veggie. So between my son and I don't think we'd need a BBQ for 2 or 3 pieces of chicken - we being mainly a veggie family with an occasional chicken or fish.

But then I got searching and we'd shortlisted two BBQs - one from Bunnings and the other one at Big W - the latter was even cheaper during the big Friday season. Then while browsing I hit upon the Weber BabyQ. Was within our budget - but my wife was skeptical about the size.

I was in the Taylors Lake (3037) area where luckily BBQ Galore, BCF, Bunnings and Big W are very close. I entered BBQ Galore skeptically - we always were under the impression that it was pricey and it was love at first sight! The Ziegler & Brown Twin Grill LP Gas (in red) just was easy on the eyes. The grill size is amazing and was much cheaper than the Weber. Further it also sported the thermometer. The sales lady was very helpful and informative - especially fielding silly questions from a total BBQ novice. The Big Friday sale was looking attractive too!

The next day took my family to the BBQ Galore and they loved it as well - the grey one.

And we love it. Pros: 1. Lights up without any fuss 2. Heats up really fast. 3. Clean up is easy. We did a trick that we do at the public hotplates. We covered the lower dome with Aluminum foil, ensuring the fat pit at the bottom wasn't covered. Clean up is a breeze then.

Cons: 1. Assembly of the cart could definitely do with better diagrams/stickers to indicate how the legs go in.

Cheers!

Works great for what I want it for – I don't know what people are whining about, I cook satays, steaks, chops, and big buffalo ribs and manprinated wings all to perfection. As for cleaning I close the lid bump the burners to full for half hour and the reminants are turned into charcol at 300deg. Then I walk past with a paint scraper and scrape the top and then angle the blade to get… Read more

the sides and it's as clean as a whistle. Once a year I'll hit it with a gurney to clean the accumulated deposits off the inside.

My preferred method of cooking mostly anything except ribs is to use low to medium heat to brown the meat on both sides then turn off the burner and switch to alternate burner to oven finish the meat. For ribs I but the bone side down and leave it over low heat for half hour.

Satays same introduce heat, then switch burner for oven finished.

Same with marinated wings.

I find roasts have to be lifted off the grill plate however due to excessive heat from 2 burners

The efficiency over your sheet metal hooded conventional barbies you can buy for a dime a dozen everywhere is leagues better as its a solid aluminium body so it hold the heat better.

One of the major reasons I bought this Barby at around $650 which isn't cheap was that I was guaranteed replacement parts, as I'm a bit of a fix it instead of buying a new one and I had a heap of barbies over the years that I did everything to keep them alive. And when the actual burner tube rusts and collapses you knew you've stretched the relationship.

Way expensive for a piece of Chinese Crap – Went to BBQs galore to buy a baby Webber however their sales person put on a pretty convincing show to steer me away from the Webber. I was taken by their spiel and parted with way too much money. This was the single burner unit, nice and compact for use in our camper. After pre heating my new BBQ and getting ready to put my cattleman steak on the… Read more

grill there was a very loud bang, I found the cast ion plate had a crack in it. I returned the plate to BBQs galore and was told this is the first time they have seen this happen and replaced it on the spot for me.

The second plate appeared to be ok and I managed to have a great BBQ, until the second time I went to use it and the same happened. Taking a close look there's a inner ring that heats first, I'm no engineering specialist, however I do know that metals expand when heated, therefore by heating the inner ring huge amounts of pressure build and obviously the design team didn't pass this one by the engineering team. Had a discussion about this with the BBQ galore manager. They said that I must have been unlucky twice because no one else has had this problem. They replaced this one and wished me luck. My luck ran out only 2 weeks later. This time I brought back the whole unit and demanded my $$ back. This was done only after my threatening to go and speak to another couple, who were contemplating buying a Z&B.

Then seen a 2 burner BBQ with stand at Aldi for $179 and that's been working real well for the last 3 months

The barbeque module itself was great. No problem there. It does what it says on the tin. However, the trolly, which is bought separately, is made of a fairly cheap and narrow gauge steel which is prone to rust around the feet. My unit was kept out of the weather for most of its life. I've had the bbq for about 2 years. During that time, the legs… Read more

Great BBQ - until the igniters fail – A great BBQ, every bit as good as a Webber. I've never cooked on a better BBQ. Does everything very well. Bacon & eggs on the hotplate. All types of meat including poultry and seafood on either hotplate or grill. Great roasts - especially with a probe meat thermometer which takes the guesswork out of cooking time. Usually need only one… Read more

burner when cooking for two. Cleaning is easy, but this BBQ is sadly let down by limited replacement parts. The igniter on the least used burner failed first and is visibly corroded. The second igniter has now become intermittent. Our Twin Grill lives outside on a covered deck only a few hundred meters from the ocean surf. I have no complaint about the igniter failure in our corrosive environment. Ask any gas barbecue owner which is the least reliable component, and the answer is almost invariably the igniters. The problem is that replacement igniters are not available. You have to buy the complete manifold/valve/igniter assembly at around 10% of the cost of the entire BBQ. Would you be happy if your car needed new spark plugs, but you had to replace the entire fuel injection system?

Avoid the Ziggy – Seemed okay for 6 months or so, then would blow out from a slight breeze, and very difficult to light. We moved it to a sheltered spot out of the wind, but now hardly use it. Growing old waiting for snags to cook – Have tried this bbq twice. So far really disappointed. If you like your steak rare or medium and seared on the outside, this bbq is not for you. Sausages take ages to cook. As others have noted, this bbq does not burn hot. Another annoyance were the two grill plates. It really needs to come with one grill and one hotplate. have checked. Perils of buying online. Some parts are plastic which is a bit of a red flag. At this point, looking at the return policy as $550 is a lot for a portable bbq and stand. So far a bit of a dud.

The folding stand is pretty average too. Flimsy and needs a handle.

grill you can only have a half hotplate, according to BBQ Galore, it is due to gas release. This is nothing, i use aluminium trays if i require another hotplate. So easy to clean. I have brought in the past, BBQ's which have cost me hundreds that don't cook evenly. Half the plate burns your steak and the other half is still raw. I recommend the Ziggy to anyone. Its big enough for cooking for a family of 5 but compact enough to fit nicely in our caravan.

works but just not hot enough – only cooked with it 3 times thus far but unless I am doing something wrong the heat output is just to low, stuff cooks but you can't get that BBQ sear. Quality apart from that appears good but would probably not recommend due to heat output, a little disappointed as even the poor quality Aldi BBQ it replaced did a better job on the sear. The cart it comes with is also incredibly poor quality, I can't see the wheels lasting long. Show details

Very well thought out – Very impressed with the Ziggy. It's a BBQ that has been deliberately engineered to do the task of BBQing. The top and bottom of the dome are cast alloy. all fat and charred bits. The cart is made of a medium density polymer that is separated from the dome by ventilated steel sections. There are two detachable tables which can be cleaned in a sink.

Pros . Very well made and engineered, nothing about this BBQ is an afterthought. . More importantly it functions, we have cooked lamb, beef and chock, too perfection. . Very easy to clean. . Comes with a cover.

Cons . The only thing I could think of is it's size. Ok for a family of four/five.

Looks better than it works – I bought the twin burner. I wouldn’t recommend it for several reasons. 1. comes standard with two grills. One grill and one hotplate would be better. 2.Personally I don’t think the heat generated is high enough. The meat browns, but doesn’t really sear quickly. Chicken, steak, sausages etc take much longer to cook on ziggy than my previous… Read more

standard BBQ (forsaken to hubby in the divorce) 3. I definitely wanted to be able to stir-fry and questioned the sales person at BBQ galore about this. I bought the extra plate for woks and frypans. I find this sits way too high above the burners to get the wok properly smoking hot. The meat stews rather than sears. It was easy to set up and it looks great and is easy to clean. But the cooking heat is nowhere near what I expect from a BBQ.

Good barbeque but badly built – The paint on the lid on my Ziggy bubbled up from the back of the hood after one year's use. Barbeque's Galore got me another lid, but it lasted only a year before the paint on the back of the hood on it all bubbled up too. It looks disgusting. Cooks quite well, but looks disgusting. Looks great, cooks well, easy to use – After checking similar products we decided on the Ziggy 2 burner with the cart for our back veranda.
