My poor little Charly died because we were with Allianz – Allianz sold us a cheat as pet insurance. When our pet got sick we got him to the vet and had to pay for everything ourselves, then he needed an operation. Me and my husband were short of money at the time and Allianz only offered reimbursements in spite of the fact that full payments were annouynced on the brochure. My poor Charly died in the… Read more

end. We deided never to buy Allianz again. I'm going to fill the internet with messages like this to warn people against an Insurance which is theft.

Incompetent petplan – Just so you are aware Allianz took over the underwriting for petplan in 2013. Don't believe their website. Prior to that they did their own underwriting which explains the price hike. Allianz went through every policy and calculated the profit on major illnesses ie hip dysplasia. Mine went up 200%.I was told this by one of their consultants. When… Read more

I complained they sacked the consultant, ignored 3 official complaints then cancelled my policy. Four months later they tried to charge me $1025 to reinstate the policy for 4 months. I took my pets to another company. Petplan systems are flawed, they are unprofessional completely unorganised, they don't give a damn about your pet only the money. Don't even bother talking to the Underwriting Manager!!

Disgusting customer service – It's been over six weeks and a number of phone calls and I still can't even get pet plan to sign me up. They won't tell me why. I've tried to talk to underwriters and operators boss but keep getting told they are not available. Worst customer service I've ever experienced. Shame on you pet plan. You should not be in this type of work. Pets deserve better. I will take my business elsewhere.

In time of crisis dont rely on Allianz – My dog was healthy had no pre- existing conditions but was hit by a car speeding through red light- our pet was badly injured needing emergency surgery. when we rang Allianz they claimed our paperwork wasn't complete, then they couldn't find our file then that we weren't covered for elective surgery. Elective because we chose to save the dog. We… Read more

took the matter to the regulatory authorities who ruled in our favour BUT it took great anguish and time and energy- time and energy we would rather have invested in our pets recovery. Not a animal aware corporate that seems to try all the tricks to not pay valid claims and make it so hard they hope you just go away.

PETPLAN – The increase of over 60% for Petplan insurance is totally over the top, I hope many people drop out as a huge increase like this is unacceptable, they don't deserve my business either.

Premium increased 67% - I'm changing insurance companies as we speak! – I received the renewal for one of my dogs and it increased 67%. I have two dogs so I'm changing insurance companies. Rang several times, left messages, sent emails and they got back to me on the pnone 3 weeks later. I contacted the Ombudsman but as the contract specifies they can increase premiums without notice - nothing can be done. The only… Read more

time I had a claim (once) they took 1.5 months to reimburse what I spent (minues excess etc). You have to have three pets before you get a multipolicy discount... list goes on. NOT HAPPY and would not recommend Pet Plan

Exorbitant Insurance Premium Rise – Have just received my PetPlan Insurance Certificate for the next period of insurance. It has increased by over 45%!!!! When queried I was informed that the underwriters (Alliance) had provided new guidelines, which lead to this increase. This is the second time I have had a similar experience with Alliance. Have cancelled my policy and will never… Read more

deal with Alliance again.

It appears from similar reviews that PetPlan want to move out of the market.

Ridiculous price hike – Petplan (Allianz) just sent me a renewal for my 2 year old labrador. My monthly premium of $49.95 stays the same until May next year when it jumps to $352.82. Quite a price rise! No explanation, no-one answering their phones, no-one ringing back when I leave my number. I'll be cancelling this insurance today.

DO NOT take out insurance with Allianz – I signed up with Allianz Pet Insurance (which is actually Petplan). I have read the poor reviews about Petplan and decided to write a review here as a warning to anyone thinking of taking out Pet Insurance with Allianz / Petplan. I have written several emails to them about the extreme increase in my policy but to date, have had no response. I have… Read more

tried calling 3 times so far but ended up waiting nearly 30 minutes each time with the call dropping out. It is absolutely ridiculous that you cannot get through to this organisation! AND there were no warnings or communications about the huge price increase either! I would hate to see how long it would take to get a claim paid or if they even pay out at all! Judging from all the negative Petplan reviews, I doubt anyone would be able to get a claim through! Policy cancelled. I would NOT recommend Allianz or Petplan – they are absolutely hopeless. Nothing! Everything.

Excellent – Chronic and reoccurring conditions are covered for the life of the pet and you can keep claiming for those conditions unlike the others being offered in Australia that will only pay claims for 12 months. Conditions are covered for life, including congenital and herediary, and they dont have any breed specific exclusions. Pay 100% of vet bill less an excess. Dont cover pre-exisiting conditions. Show 2 replies

Excellent – My claims are paid very quickly, and they can also pay the vet, so i do not have to find the money fist then wait to be reimbursed. Having a dog with Diabetes and knowing that Petplan will be still paying for claims for this condition when my dog is old is very comforting. So far they have paid nearly $18,000 over the last five years for her… Read more ·  12

diabetes, and she is now only 6 years old, so on the life expectancy of a German Shepherd they will probably pay out that much again, Wow that is around $36,000.

I could not have afforded to keep my dog alive if it wasnot for Petplan, as I am on a pension. No cover for conditions that the pets hav before taking out the policy, but then, no insurance companies pay for that. Would be good if we did not have to pay for car insurance until after we have te accident. (LOL)
