Annual premiums have become unaffordable! – Their renewal premiums increase dramatically each year. This year's policy was due to increase for 2 pomeranians, by over $1500. as it had become way to expensive. So it just shows how much they actually care for your animals well-being when they can keep increasing your premiums do drastically each year.
I am so pleased with the service I have recieved through our experience with Bow Wow Meow. The call was answered within two minutes and we received great help from Dr Emma, who talked us through how to care for it over the next few days, with what he had on hand already for him and she sent follow up written instructions. We normally have to sedate Osk for the vets because rescue dog anxiety and my car is out of action awaiting the mechanic on Monday, driving him anywhere was going to be problematic. Getting such caring help yesterday without going through the usual routine for his anxiety or having to drive there was a lifesaver, and the rash has improved overnight. Fantastic! Life saver! This is the 1st time getting pet insurance for any of my animals & I’m so grateful I got insurance for my Alaskan Malamute. I have made many claims as my poor dog has had many issues. He has had CT scan, X-rays & MRI etc. Without Bow Wow Meow I would not have been able to cover the cost of all the scans etc. Claims are easy & quick to do. We took out a great cover for our puppy at 8 weeks old and then at 6 month old he had an accident which resulted in fracturing his knee in 2 places. Bow Wow were very quick to pay out their portion within 2/3 days of me submitting the paperwork. Several lots of X-rays and 2 operations later the bills were very high. BWM said they were seperate conditions and allocated the $500 excess to each invoice meaning we barely got anything back. I had to phone BWM after every visit as the vet told us BWM didn’t pay anything towards the bill. Every time I fought the cause arguing on the phone how unfair this was and an absolute con! My complaint went to the review and I’m getting a refund of nearly $800. I wonder how many people just give up because it’s too hard?? Won’t insure my next animal with them. Even the vet said BWM are the hardest to deal with. Do not recommend BWM. Unnecessarily difficult. At 15 your dog gets diagnosed with heart failure it is heart breaking and then you have the added angst of dealing with BWM!
Follow-up · After my complaint to BWM they refunded over $700 in over charges. Apparently they have a $500 annual excess now ‘nose to tail’. Shame they don’t afford their long standing and loyal customers of over 15 years the same privilege if they realise this has been a problem!!!!

and was unable to resolve my issue during that call.
I contacted Bow Wow Meow to discuss policy differences, as my current policy has an excess per condition, while newer policies apply a yearly excess. After initially speaking with the overseas call center, I was later connected with Kim in Australia, who was professional, clear, and helpful. Kim took the time to explain the policy thoroughly, offered to waive three months of premiums as a goodwill gesture, and noted my preference to speak with local agents in future. I genuinely appreciated her assistance and communication.
Despite this, the overall value of the policy is inadequate. My premium has increased from approximately $30 per month to $145 per month. As my pet is now nearly 13 years old, changing insurers or policies is not a practical option due to cost. I could not even change within Bow Wow Meow for a slightly better policy they now offer.
Additionally, on a recent claim totaling $850, the reimbursement amount was $352, which did not meet my expectations given the long-term premiums paid. In my view, I would have been better off setting aside the equivalent of my policy premiums in a personal savings account, as financially I would definitely be in a stronger position.
While I acknowledge the helpful service provided by one staff member, my overall experience suggests that Bow Wow Meow no longer offers the level of value or service I would expect. Based on this experience, I would not recommend them.

At the end, he went to his managers and they reviewed our policy and came back with a better combination of premium, excess, payment terms etc that we could afford. And they maintained the coverage we needed for our fur baby. This is quite unique. And I have never experienced this in the insurance business before. Nor have I ever written a review like this. So if you are concerned about your poet insurance and cannot afford the automatic renewal they send out, give them a call and talk about your circumstances. If you're lucky enough to get Arman, he will listen and help you find a solution. Cannot recommend highly enough.
My boy Brax is almost 10 years old and has had some serious vet visits and I’m so thankful to Bow Wow Meow. Both my German Shepherds have been insured with them since I got them as young pups. vet will treat your animal in an emergency after that time of night Without wanting thousands of dollars which to say I’m disappointed is an understatement. My local vet closes at 7.30pm which is a shame as they accept Gap Only and they know me and my dogs but like I said after hour vets will not treat your pet without thousands of dollars up front. Last emergency with Brax I paid approx $350 cash and had to take Brax home hoping he would survive the night which he did thank goodness and I took him to local vet next morning and was able to use Gap Paycand just pay my 20% gap. Bow Wow Meow are wonderful and I can’t recommend them highly enough.

Bow wow meow has honestly been very easy and straightforward. We have been with them since our cavoodle was 3 months old and through that time we've had to make a number of claims, 1-2 of which were quite expensive, as in "thank goodness we have pet insurance" expensive. The claim process was so easy my vet sent everything off for me and within the week the items my dog was insured for were approved.
