Excellent service and value for money

Could not recommend Pet Insurance Australia more highly. Our pup was hit by a car and needed a major operation. The employee at Pet Insurance Australia was extremely sympathetic for us and helped us through everything. The claim process took 5 minutes and was resolved in 24 hours. The portal is easy to use and very good value. Show details

Quick, professional, efficient

My dog woke up showing some major neurological symptoms, it was so sudden. We had to take her to an emergency hospital ASAP, it was Saturday, everywhere else it was closed. The Hospital slammed us with a hefty bill, we put a claim through Gap only, not really hoping to get any definite answers until at least Monday. However, our pet insurance responded within less than 15 minutes, approving the claim. We were so at ease knowing that we could proceed with the necessary treatment asap without having to wait. Thank you so much, Pet Insurance Australia. I have had a very great experience with you so far, I have recommended this company to all of my friends. Show details ·  1

Happy and Healthy with PIA

PIA have allowed us to help our pets through unforeseen illnesses and disease. If it weren’t for our coverage, we would have been unable to pay for the required treatment! The gap-only scheme is so helpful in stressful times, and in the event a claim is made, the return is placed in a timely manner.

We have three very happy and healthy pets, and would (and have) highly recommend(ed) PIA to our friends and family. Thanks! Show details ·  1

Excellent service and easy to use

We cannot fault the experience we have had with PIA. Our little dog has unfortunately had to have several major vet visits and PIA have always approved our claims quickly. We have been with them now for over 5 years. Show details ·  1

Hi, does your policy cover hip replacement?

Larisa S.
Larisa S. · Comprehensive Cover

I am looking to switch pet insurance. My 6 year old dog is pretty good. When he was a puppy he swallowed something (a bone or something) which caused intestinal intersusseption . He had a surgery and his guts were fixed. No issues for over 5 years. Would that be regarded a pre-existing condition? Many thanks.

My cat needs a total hip replacement on the right side. The surgeon has cleared the left side as being ok. If later down the track, the left side does end up the same as the right is this classed as a pre existing condition?

About Pet Insurance Australia:

With Pet Insurance Australia, you can choose from three types of insurance for your dog or cat:

  • Pet Essentials Cover
  • Comprehensive Cover
  • Major Medical Cover

Other features include:

  • You can insure your pet for life, but your pet needs to be between the ages of 8 weeks and 9 months.
  • The three covers range in comprehensiveness. For example, Pet Essentials Cover only reimburses up to $1000 on veterinary treatments, whereas the Major Medical Cover refunds up to 80%.
  • There’s a 21-day cooling-off period, so you if you change your mind, you’re not locked into a contract.
  • Discounted insurance available for multiple pets, with a maximum discount of up to 15% for 4 or more.
  • Insurance fees depend on the breed, age, and pre-existing conditions of your pet. You can request a quote by filling in your pet’s details via a form on the website.
  • Flexible premiums offer cheaper insurance – but means you’ll be paying a higher excess fee

What reviewers liked about Pet Insurance Australia:

  • The easy-to-use online claims system was a recurring point of praise, due to rapid processing times and claim payouts. Additionally, the “GapOnlyTM” insurance scheme made it possible to process claims on the spot at participating vets.
  • Reviewers praised Pet Insurance Australia for being open and honest about the terms of their insurance coverage – most people weren’t caught off guard by hidden fees
  • Investing in pet insurance brought about peace of mind, as there was comfort in knowing that pets would be covered in the event of illness or accident
  • Reviewers were relieved to save significant amounts of money that would’ve been spent on vet bills.

Points to consider:

  • It’s important to do your research, as you’ll find there are certain services that Pet Insurance Australia doesn’t cover. Pre-existing conditions, cancer conditions, and dental procedures are some of the services that are excluded.
  • Insurance fees increase each year as your pet ages.
