AquaMAX Electric Boosted

Aquamax is Rubbish – This product is Rubbish. Ongoing replacement parts and service costs outway any savings solar give. The service from Bar plumbing is slack. I was encouraged to buy aquamax by a sales man who wanted to push this system. There are too many working parts that can go wrong. Replacing these is inevitable and expensive.

Aquamax Electric boosted solar.e – The AquaMax storage heater on being manufactured is turned up side down and pumped with expanding insulation, giving it %8 more efficiency than other tanks. The element and thermostat are a good make and feel solid. I found this was the case when I gave general service to older units. I also find the panels are strong and can be fixed to the roof easily, saving time and money helping ad more value to the job. Ethetically pleasing to the eye, and delivers plenty of hot water. Nothing, I have 20 years experience in the industry and recomeend this water heater.
Works well – We have had this system installed with the evacuated tubes now for over a year and the system works very well. Because of the position of the solar collector, I've noticed most of the hot water reaches its maximum temperature around 3pm in the afternoon. Now if you decide to install a system like this, make sure you tell the installer to alter the default flow. From the factory, the hot water mixes with cold water before it reaches your shower. If set at the wrong level, you will never get really hot water. The default setting on our system was set too low. Even in the peak of summer we were only getting around 70C of hot water in the tank. The water that came out of the shower was lukewarm.
The manual was no help as the programming codes are deliberately hidden so people don't tinker with their systems. Fortunately a friend rang the company and got the code to alter the settings on our system. Our system now works like a champion. In summer the tank will shut off as it reaches near boiling point! Those evacuated tubes work well.
A digital readout console tells you the temperature of the water on the roof, in the insulated pipe running down and the temperature of the tank as well. Even on cloudy days we don't have to boost the system unless its been raining for two or three days. There's always plenty of hot water. Evacuated tubes are very efficient. Digital readout of tank temperature is easy to see. Lack of information in the manual to allow you to alter the water temperature to your comfort zone.
Good – Very happy overall. I would have liked to get an evacuated tubes system but our budget was tight as this unit was installed on a new home. I would recomend this system to others. Cheap, environmentally friendly hot water. Usually enough hot water for 2 adults and 3 children except in winter (see cons). The highest our electricity bill has been for hot water was $40 and the lowest is the minimum charge (around $16 plus GST). As we live in Queensland, only the top half of the storage tank can be heated by boosting. We live on the Great Divide so it can get very cold in winter and we have to carefully manage our hot water use on overcast or rainy days during winter to prevent cold showers. Southern states have a bottom mounted heating element so this may not be an issue for these people.
