Wulfe Heat Pump Water Heater

Easy install – Installed today. Very quick to install but I had a great plumber. Works as promised and I am glad I don't have to get on the roof for a check. Will see how the efficiency is. Looks very good too. Show details
Two years in, and my WULFE heat pump has begun producing what I can only describe as industrial percussion. A loud, rhythmic banging throughout the night, reminiscent of someone enthusiastically attacking a saucepan with a cricket bat. Very… Read more
soothing. Excellent for meditation. Or hostage situations.
When I called to report this, I was treated to a masterclass in premium-brand gaslighting. No, it couldn’t possibly be the unit. No, Perth’s hard water couldn’t be an issue. No, the fact that the system is designed so it cannot be opened, cleaned, or serviced internally is apparently a feature, not a flaw.
Instead, I was advised I’d need a specialised brand plumber (naturally) who would charge $275 just to arrive. Not to diagnose. Not to fix. Simply to stand on my driveway and admire the unit. A bold business model.
I then did something radical: I got a second opinion from an independent plumber. Shockingly, they immediately confirmed the issue, hard water buildup, exactly as countless Perth homeowners online are reporting after only a few years of use.
A quick search shows this isn’t an isolated case. These systems appear to be packing up faster than a pop-up marquee in a Fremantle sea breeze, which is impressive given that hot water systems are generally expected to last, you know, longer than a gym membership.
I’ve owned homes for years. I’ve replaced hot water systems before. Never, never, have I installed a brand-new system only to be dealing with this level of noise, failure, and finger-pointing so quickly.
The marketing is sleek. The branding is sexy. The product? A lesson in why aesthetics should never outrank engineering especially in Perth.
My advice: Do your research. Look beyond the glossy launch reviews. Speak to Perth owners who’ve had these for a few years. Because once the honeymoon ends, you’re left with noise, denial, and a very expensive invitation for someone to step onto your driveway.
Buyer beware.
Follow-up · How noisy is it during the day? The noise occurs during the day as well as overnight. It is loud enough that the adjacent room cannot reasonably be used as a bedroom at night, and during the day it is noticeable and disruptive when the space is used as a home office. Have you tried any DIY maintenance? There are no DIY maintenance options… Read more
First time HRP HWS – Chose large unit even though only for two people. Is probably too large. It’s winter and running on solar. Only runs for 4-5 hours per day. Water always hot even having two showers per day. Not too noisy. Show details · 1

Wulfe happy – This the first time we have had a heat pump hot water service. The water pressure from it is excellent This system has been installed in winter very happy with the service so far. Show details
Nice tank but need designer to think through parts – Nice water tank. I am not sure about the steel cover for the digital ready out. It has to be fastened into plastic cover with self tapping screws into plastic. So it it not easily removable to eg. boost the system if the kids have used all the water. The exterior seem a little cheap. Could have done all exterior components in steel. The Perth sun with probably make it brittle. Show details · 2
New to Electric hot water system – Only installed yesterday so haven't had a chance to try out yet . Replaced old gas hot water system with this so hopefully it will save me a bit of money on running costs. Nice looking unit. Show details
Not working but then repaired – Less than 6 months of being in service, has an E7 fault code, not producing hot water and cant find any help in manuals, waiting on response. - Review updated. I wasted time trying to get company that installed the unit to resolve, as soon as I contact Wulfe they resolved Show details · 1
2 weeks after install and so far working good – Installers did a great job from Newcastle Hot Water Services, system running well and sufficient hot water. I chose this one because I want to be able to program when not at the holiday house to run only once a week rather than daily. Only dislike is the panel covering the screen is screwed on, this should have been designed with some type of… Read more
hinge to be able to easily open and close. Fixed that problem with thin magnetic strip to hold the cover on for quick access.

A compact / quiet unit – A very compact unit for its size. This unit is very narrow for a 250L which make is a great pick for small spaces. I have also found the unit to be reasonably quiet. Only downside is the requirement for the installer to enter and download an app based activation code in order for this unit to run. Without a specific code entered this unit will… Read more
not heat. Some people could run into issues here.
In general, this unit seems very efficient with a built in timer for increased energy efficiency.
Just need to do away with the app requirements and this unit would be exceptional.
