AquaQuip Jet-Vac

Useless – This is a useless exorbitant plastic piece of crap. $800 for a thing that I could have built at bunnings for $25. The hose will always get tangled even though it’s cut to size. The connections would untangle itself but it doesn’t. So I always have to watch it and untangle the hose so the jetvac will work. It doesn’t do the whole pool floor. It just goes in the same circles. It will pick up sand and leaves but you need to brush the pool to loosen up the debris because it won’t collect it all. So it requires manual prep. It won’t go to the outer edges either and you have to clean the stairs yourself. It really is terrible.

Good cleaner when it works – Worked very well for the first year. Had to change a filter bag every year. After a couple of years bearings needed replacement. Constantly losing power due to gears wearing, filter blocking as the years progressed. Cleans very well but High maintenance. I expect it has very high energy usage so I run it at night. Which is annoying when I see it stuck in the corner in the morning due to a lack of grunt. After five years the unit needs to be replaced. That is not enough life for such an expensive item.

Collection bags – The fine mesh collection bags only last about 8 months - they degrade and split around the top and at the sides - and cost around $40-50 to replace. That equates to around $60-75 per year just for bags. They are labelled 'Made in Australia' but are poor quality. I'm not happy.

NOT QUITE STAND-IT-ALONE – It is good when it is new, but later you will find it has a lot of moving parts that need replacing due to the UV or salt corrosion or just wear and tear of its " plastic bits" (it has a lot). Don't forget to set its timer to the same cycle as your main pump or its booster pump will have to work very hard to pump the water through its own plumbing. not clog up your skimmer it tends to go crazy and not adhere to the walls and floors, still need regularly empty the catcher and it is quite tedious during winter time because your sleeves and shirts will get wet
