Will never buy an Ariston washing machine again - ever! – Purchased an AVXL129 a couple of years ago from Harvey Norman - yes, was talked into it although I was looking at a different brand. slowly even though dial is set to 1200 (fastest spin). I often must repeat the spin cycle again and again and AGAIN to finally get the heavier load to spin at the high speed. (Note: I do not overload - this can happen with one pillow or 4 towels.) I still have to frequently lift out dripping items, do a full wash with a lighter clothing then place the towels (or pillows/heavier clothing) back in to spin afterwards. Very, very annoying and happens frequently but randomly.

Same problems with mouldy horrible seal - this happened within a few weeks even though door was always left open after washing and wiped over to dry. I still wipe over to clean and dry - seal is now breaking down. Note: friends have a Bosch front loader and actually close door after washing - no mould or deterioration whatsoever on their seal!! I can only surmise the seal is lower quality than other brands.

Washes normal / light loads ok but as mentioned, trouble with any heavier items.

We did pick this up on special as the newer model was on the floor so didnt pay as much as others but I still feel it was money wasted. When it finally gives up the ghost I will buy another front loader but will steer well clear of any Ariston!

the manual or was told to me when I purchased the machine), and even then the mould grew all around the rim and was very hard to clean it remove. I contacted the store and had a new rim sent to me for free a year after owning the machine. I was then extra vigilant in keeping it clean but the same thing happened again and a year on it was covered in mould. My clothes smelt and would get marks when removed from the machine. I now have a new top loader and will not buy a front loader again. I do not recommend this machine at all!

Don't buy this brand – Well not quite 6 years and our machine has had it. I was expecting another 4 years for the money. My Husband wanted to buy the new parts (basically a new drum) for nearly $400, but I bought another brand which is faster and quieter. We had the spiel from Domayne when we bought it, but what rubbish it is! The mould on the door seal was horrible too!

Very good, reliable machine – My experience has not matched the overall bad reviews. Yes, bought it from HN in 2005. Also bought the extended warranty. will destroy the circuit board. I also think there is a tendency for people who have switched from top loaders to overload front loaders, which will wear out the bearings much quicker. Reliable. Does the job. The 7.5kg capacity is actually not accurate. It's more like 7kg. Could be more energy efficient and water efficient. Would prefer if more cycles used off peak hot water, rather than relying on the element.

Great machine! – We got this machine 5 years ago as a wedding gift, I had never used a front loader before so it took some getting used too. timer on the machine to wash our clothes at 1pm (half price power) and the machine is near our bedroom and we never hear it. I'm hoping to get another 5 years out of it, providing I take care of it. Hasn't missed a beat and I use it twice a day every day. Cleans clothes well. My dad is an electrician and worked with appliances for 10 years and said Ariston has been a good brand to work with. The reviews on here are pretty bad, I wonder if people who do like the machine don't bother writing a review? The only thing I didn't like was the symbols on the control panel instead of plain English. It took me some time to study the manual to know what each symbol meant.

Good – I am a repairer for washers and find the older style Aristons to be hopeless. The new models however seem to be very good (I have an AVXL129 at home and have had no problems). We find a lot of problems relate to overloading machines. The new machines have bigger bearings and we repair very few of the new ranges. Would recommend the super silent models. Easy to use. very quiet. New models very good The older models certainly not worth the money

overpriced and disappointing – Within 12 months the door seal started leaking told that it was not covered by warranty.$200 to fix so i just put a towel under the door. 2 years later the pump stopped working. The machine started off quietly but then became noisy after a while. This will be my last Ariston. you can add to the wash poorly made.

Ariston washing machine? – When I bought my machine thought i'd do a wash and dry cycle, well that took 6 hours, could'nt get the wrinkles out of the sheets. Terrible – two service calls within 2 years now rusting in detergent dispencer causing rust on clothes rusting where door closes in two parts paint blistering have had problems with Aust made product thought give Italians a go was also recommended keeps breaking down and noisy

bearings went - replaced in july 06 by ariston now the motor has blown on the second machine - once again without a washing machine for two weeks for the second time in two years - thanks to ariston

Mouldy Ariston – I have a 1 year old Ariston washing machine front loader. Ariston and they don't want to know about it. The issue with the door is one which can't be rectified either - design fault. Great for spinning clothes reasonably dry Mouldy seals, very smelly. If you want to remove an item during the cycle, door won't open.

Terrible – I am extremely disappointed in the product and its manufacturing company. Ariston has failed to fix my machine but will not replace it as there is a part available to fix it. Nothing. An absolute waste of money. Where to start.... * machine will not do spin cycle - the piece of crap is broken. I have been waiting SIX MONTHS for it to be repaired. Been repaired once, the repairman was not a happy person, with no personality at all. It is mouldy on the rubber inside the door. Looks like it is wearing away. Can hardly fit any clothes in it and the spin cycle is terrible.

Bad – We bought this due to the big push toward front loaders, but I would have to say I really miss my top loader. It had parts I could clean. I hate this Ariston & often tell people. Energy rating; Price; Looks Spin cycle often leaves clothes very wet; woolwash cyle always leaves clothes dirty; clothes often have detergent still on them; poor instructions; filthy rubber seal.

Bad – Not impressed with the rust and the fact this is not covered by their 'peace of mind' warranty. Expect the unit will soon need to be replaced. Overpriced Harvey Norman appliance. Terrible – A sales rep from Harvey said this is the next best thing since slice bread. It is made in Italy, so you can't go wrong. Ohh how wrong i was. If only i can select 0 stars. Loud, broke down after 2 years. expected abit more then just 2 years especially for the price you pay for it. Should have kept my 12 year old hoover.

Terrible – $1500 washing machines should last longer than 4 years. Same fault as many reviewers. Bearings gone. Serviceman took one look at it and said $500 repair and then it would happen again as it is a design flaw. I would not buy an ariston again..indeed it has put me off front loaders. Terrible – I bought it 4 years ago and it break down so quick. A washing machine should alst for more than 8 years. Terrible – First Ariston broke down in five years, so they replaced the washing machine with a new one without giving me a warranty and it broke down in two years. Motherboard went in two years, also same problem in another ariston model

Bad – def not recommend this brand. life span 2yrs, parts to replace and labour costs expensive and same price to buy a new waching machine that would probably work. quiet. broke down one month after 2yrs warranty. Very poor value.

leaving the door open to dry out as told to do so. I have to rub bleach in there or the clothes come out smelling like mould. If I don't take the clothes out within an hour, bleach or no bleach, they smell like mould.

The machine seems to clean clothes ok but it can't get rid of stains or big smells (like stinky gym clothes, even with nappy san) to save its life, unlike my old $200 Homemaker top loader.

I had to get it serviced within 3 months of having it as it stopped working, and despite the nearest authorized repair place being 80 kms away they came in 2 days. It turns out I was just using too much suds. Service was efficient Incredibly noisy, can end up 2 feet away from where it sits in the laundry after a spin cycle.

Awful – do not buy any ariston washers, mine(avxl129) has been repaired twice already and the ariston dryer was put out on the verge for council pickup + oven repaired once the only ariston product i havnt had a problem with is the gas cooktop - as it has no electrics! expensive ,breaks down service is poor

This machine has down a lot of work with no faults until now (family with 4 adult children + friends),but that is what it was designed to do!

We have also suffered with mould on the door seal and rust in several places.

Ariston and on the whole hasn't been a bad machine however I expected a longer service life for the $1249.

We are currently waiting for the service company to submit a report to the warranty company and then make a decision. Looked good when we got it! Rust developed within about 3yrs at bottom right and more recently around bottom of door seal.

Do not Buy ariston washing machine.. It's crap – I had this machine for 3 years. It is so terrible experience. It repair 4 times within the 3 yrs ownership. Norman that rubber seal is not part of the warranty. So, I pay for the seal.

Last week the drum broke down. I'm lucky that i bought this machine with the extended warranty. The technician has to review and send report to Harvey Norman extended warranty department. Found that the repair cost for the drum is $600. The customer service offer me with the cash of 600 and So can buy a new machine but the extended warranty will be cancelled. I just accepted the offer as I do not wish to call for repair every year.

The technician told me that ariston is belongs to Harvey Norman. I guess this is the reason that the sales rep. Is been promoting ariston.

Expensive and always broke down

with a rusty bowl and we refused to accept delivery until it was properly cleaned. 5 months froms from initial contact for repair, at wits end, I collected names and emails of senior reps in Harvey Norman (store,state and national) and 2 Ariston managers and rang the extended warranty mob and told the manager all the names I had and simple said I want a credit to buy a new machine of a different brand or I will email them telling them all about the incompetance I've had to deal with. 2 hours later she had aranged it and 2 days later I had a new washing machine. While snopping for names of senior staff, I was told straight out from a sales rep that they are trained to encourage people to buy ariston and a senior company manager/part owner also owns shares in ariston, I can not confirm this as fact. The sales pitch. these are the best on the market, so the sales rep said. 4 years and then the main bearing went.

Total and utter rubbish – We bought this nearly 5 years ago. Came with 2 years manufacturer warranty...FORTUNATELY, we bought the additional 3 years warranty from Harvey Norman. barrell, the shocks all rusted, water leaking near ELECTRICALS!!! The list goes on and looking inside its horrifying to think that we could be minutes from a severe electricution.

This machine is terrible and we will never buy Ariston again.

The good news is that the extended warranty has served us well as Harvey Norman are giving us a new washing machine due to the parts costing over $1100 to fix this machine.

So good news for us in the end, but stay away from these machines...terrible, un-safe and dangerous.

Terrible – worse front loader on market. Ariston after sales service very poor and difficult to access. The machine is clearly a faulty design and I recommend not purchasing it at all unless you have money to throw away. Bad – My machine lasted 2 years before the pump broke. There was no lint or coins in it...it just decided to stop working? As it got older it seems to get easily unbalanced. and expect clean clothes. My drain hose fell out probably because it was dancing across the floor in a spin cycle. This had some dire consequences in that a laundry floor full of water with a nice electrical fireworks show going on and then no power to our house could have been potentially life threatening had one of my kids run in there when it was 'blowing up'and stood in the water. A drain hose falling out could be a reasonably common occurance so be aware. Apart from the danger factor it completley ruined the machine. Water got in the main module and cooked it and possibly the motor aswell. The repair cost wasnt justifyable so we put that money towards a new Bosch instead. It seems most repairers are recommending either Miele (for millionaires) or the Bosch for a good quality reasonably priced machine. We considered Electrolux as recommended by choice until I read some of the reviews here! It broke so I got to go and buy a Bosch!!yippee Loud unbalancing spin cycle..potentially very dangerous if drain hose falls out and water cant drain fast enough from under the machine..BEWARE..Read on.

clothes on the 'delicate' cycle, does not clean properly and the spin cycle appears to be ad hoc and not based on the programme?????
