Problem with my electric – Previously put up a bad review however, it was a problem with our electric. Very happy with it. Sits at the end of my bed. I suffer with hot feet and it’s perfect for sorting that out. Show details
Good size, powerful, easy to assemble and nothing to rust when used in salt air environment by Evan J. on 5th Feb. 2020 – I bought my first Arlec 45cm, 5 blader fan from Bunnings at end of 2018, and on first switch on, was amazed at its airflow capacity even on low speed. The only downside if one can call it that is that the airflow noise is slightly more audible in comparison to others which do not blow anywhere near as much air. One soon gets used to, and forgets… Read more
it. I use my fan in my caravan annexe to blow cooler outside air into my non air conditioned caravan and it sits there and purrs 24/7 for 4 weeks at a time on low speed in a salt air environment, and it out performs every other fan I have tried - some quite expensive ones. Its other big features are its all plastic construction - nothing to rust, simplicity in both assembly and disassembly for cleaning of the guards and fan or packing away, stability, and range of height adjustment. I was so impressed, I bought a second one which is still in the box as the price was soooo good. If there is a downside, the only requirement as with most plastic appliances is to exercise a little care and common sense when assembling the fan guard, and to position the fan where it is not going to be knocked over and is out of harms way etc. Like most fans, they do not like being abused and knocked over. I recommended this product to my nephew who bought one for a similar purpose, and he was stoked with its performance, wishing he had known about them earlier. I am extremely satisfied with this product, and in my opinion, good value for money.
Powerful , light weight, Easy to Break and Easy to Clean – Bought this from Bunnings before xmas of 2018. Initial impressions upon opening the box was "this isn't white" because it's actually grey. No big deal though unless you want it to match decor. Removing the parts out of the box I was surprised at how light everything is - I honestly expected to be returning this because everything felt cheap.… Read more
Despite that this is the most powerful indoor fan I've ever owned, even comparing to fans that have cost me twice as much. Compared to those cheap fans you buy for $15 the first speed of this on speed 1 is more powerful than top speed on the cheap ones. The fan is a bit noisy but like anything. you get used to it after a while.
A bit more than a year on, the plastic fan guard is busted. It's still holding together thanks to the 2 screws that secure the top and bottom of the cage but most of the clips have broken. This has happened when adjusting the fan direction - the plastic is quite flimsy and if you don't grab it firmly with both hands the cage flexes. causing the clips to disengage (lucky those screws are there). Sometimes when this happens, the clips will actually snap off.
The fan blade is also made from cheap plastic. It works very well to move air but don't let your kids near it. One of mine decided to turn it on while I had the front of the cage off for cleaning and when he grabbed the fan to change the direction his thumb caught the blade causing one of the fins to snap off and fly across the room. Not the manufacturers fault but I've seen people jam things into the blades of those cheap fans and those come out fine in this event. I found this review page while looking for a replacement blade for it and thought I'd share my thoughts.
For now I've taken a donor blade from another fan that doesn't work as well until I can source a replacement. Despite all it's failings, this fan's ability to move air around the room is well worth the money and while the quality of the cage needs a great deal of improvement the fact that it doesn't rust makes it very easy to clean.
House nearly burnt down! – I'm writing this for the Arlec heavy duty pedestal fan as I could not find one I will write it on here. I just bought this fan today from bunnings, opened the box and try to assemble it together, turned out that the screws that was supposed to hold the frame to the tabs together was too short so we had to go out to buy a longer screw. Once… Read more
assembled with the new screw we bought, tested on number 1 which was great at the start. The fan ran for about 20 minutes then it started to make weird sound then shut itself off and the back off the motor was completely burnt and smelt disgusting. Definitely would not recomend the Arlec heavy duty pedestal fan unless you want your house to catch on fire!
Best fan that I have bought to date – This fan is very powerful and works wonders on a hot Queensland summer day. I would be lost without this product. The only negative is that it's a little loud Show details
Noisy but powerful – Bought arlec-45cm-white-pedestal-fan from bunnings. Solid construction but colour looks like grey. Very good fan. Very powerful. 1st speed is nearly the maximum speed of a normal cheap fan. Very noicy even at first speed. Doesn't suit for bedroom. Switches are at top of motor which is hard to access. Will be a great one if someone need for alfresco or garage.
