This model has been working very well for 7 years! The opening handle is now feeble yet it an excellent dishwasher! I understand that Asko in Sweden sold their company to China. Asko are one of the best quality brands in Australia. * Any dishwasher doesn't like heavily dirty Dishes... quick rinse always keeps the Dishwasher alive for longer. * Dishwasher cleaner $5-00 every 3 months Keeps the machine functioning really well Show details

Start button unreliable – Dishwasher start button is heat sensitive. As the button is integrated into the main control panel it can't be replaced independently. I wouldn't recommend this dishwasher (or this type of button design) especially for people with cold hands or poor circulation as you will find it difficult to start the dishwasher wash cycle. I see this model is… Read more

discontinued. Asko please make sure you don't use this type of button in the future. It would also be useful to include how this button works in the manual. Since I didn't buy this product myself and only started using it approx 3 years after it was bought i can't really comment on value for money or how long it worked as intended so it could have been a reasonable low price purchase at the time.

Worn out after only 3 years – My previous review of this dishwasher said it was great. Well, after 3 years of using it every other day the circuit board failed and the handle doesn't work any more. The drying is haphazard and dispensing mechanism doesn't always function. Dishwashers should last longer than 3 years.  Show details

The best dishwasher – I have had this machine for approximately 2 years and absolutely love it. I was a little hesitant after reading the reviews, but the sale person at the good guys convinced me it was a great unit and it definitely is! It cleans every time to perfection. The button is a soft touch, as others have mentioned, but seriously you do get used to it. This dishwasher is the best!  Show details

Quiet and efficient – Asko was first recommended to me as the dishwasher of choice by my Danish sister-in-law. The whole family now uses Askos and Mum's has been going strong for more than 12 years. The poor little wheels on the bottom rack are nearly ready to fall off, however. No apparent built-in obsolescence with this brand. How refreshing!  Show details

Good looking and easy to use – Always cleans well, we mainly use the economic cycle and it has never let us down. The machine is relatively quiet and runs the cycle at a reasonable speed. I particularly like the quality of the racks. They don't rattle as some dishwashers do. This was pointed out to me by the salesman that recommended my first Asko dishwasher. So when the time came to replace it I noticed the difference with the quality of racks in other brands.  Show details

Asko loyalist probably won't buy asko again – I have always installed asko dishwashers in my homes and recommended them to friends and family. 3 years ago we installed the dishwasher by a plumber. It washes fine. Not great just fine. Previous versions we amazing. It isn't too noisy and suitable for our open plan house. The touch pad on the front is hard to use. Requiring multiple touches to… Read more

respond. The latch on the door has broken 3 times in the last year. When broken the dishwasher doesn't work at all. The first time was during a covid lockdown when no one could come. Once on Xmas eve after a huge family dinner with another huge meal to prepare the next day and more guests arriving. Repair of latch hasn't worked. And it broke again yesterday. We are waiting on new parts which had been ordered after the last repair. Parts are slow because covid and we live outside the metro. My partner has cast on his hand so this is adding workload to me... on the bright side the children are learning how to hand wash. I know there's never a good time for things to breakdown but this is getting silly. Maybe I should get rid of this lemon and buy another brand?

Stay away from this "brand" – We spend $1200 for a dishwasher that didn't last 3 years. Repair under warranty, cockroaches, faults ect. Never again. We could have bought 3 dishwashers for this money and replace them each year. Show details

Terrible faults all the time – Every 6 to 12 month we get faults on this machine we have had 3 call outs in 3 years stay away. Asko service department is great to deal with but the cost of every repair we have had it's not worth it to call out again

Never again – Totally frustrated by the operation and Asko service provided . After getting this 4 year old dishwasher serviced ( no real service provider in regional Victoria.) nothing comes out clean. I've tried tablets and liquid. I feel sorry for the complaints line people. I recently purchased a Miele for my city home. The difference is like night and day. Show details

Suggest you steer clear of this model or try another brand – I've been an Asko advocate for many years, having owned 4 Asko's over 20 years without incident at 2 locations. Unfortunately this particular model seems to have design issues. In recent times I have purchased two D5424 and have the same troubles with both. - The tablet dispenses only half of the time - I.e. The dispenser door opens but the… Read more

tablet does not dispense

(tried numerous different tablet products and still exhibits the same issue)

- Dishes are often covered with food particles and residue at the end of the cycle

- Wash cycles are excessively long

After a long history with Asko I am left with no choice but to change to a different brand.

Other friends have indicated they've experienced similar issues

Plates are now always shining white but sometimes smell – After one wash the plates come out of our Asko super shiny but some smell. Contacted our Bunnings shop and they told us to clean out the filter despite having only bought it in March this year. It still smelt until we found running a wash before hand helps greatly reducing the smell. The plates still come our shiny so can't complain to much and the smell isn't very bad yet.  Show details

Will never buy another Asko – This is the third Asko dishwasher we have had and by far the worst. Glasses and dishes frequently smeary. Has broken down three times and whilst the service men are good, dealing with Asko head office in Melbourne is not. They take no responsibility and are extremely discourteous. We would not buy another Asko.  Show details

Timers – Cleans dishes ok but the times for the different settings are not working properly. Up to 6 hours for one setting. 4.5 hours for eco setting. Only setting that is correct is the rinse setting - 7 minutes. Have had this fixed under warranty before. Would not recommend an Asko dishwasher. Had hoped it would last more than 3 years without having another lot of issues.  Show details

Buyer beware! – Worst dishwasher ever. Dishes still come out dirty and you end up having to re-wash by hand. Tablet only pops out and dissolves sometimes if you are lucky. Have to pre-rinse dishes and clean filter and arms after every single wash and then it still does not clean. Had a Meile for 15 years, wish I had brought another one.  Show details

Blocked up – We had our machine less than 12 months when a blockage in a pipe occurred. I tried to fix this myself but couldn't. Called Asko out and they advised it was a seed that had somehow got through the filter and blocked the pipe. Cost $100 to repair and the technician said the only way to guarantee it didn't happen again was to wash dishes before… Read more

putting them in the dishwasher. That completely undermines the point of having a dishwasher - particularly one of the most expensive ones which claims 'no rinsing required'. When I complained to Asko the customer service was very rude and offered no solution. Will never buy this brand again.

Asko brand. Never again – I expect better longevity for the price. I also had problem with asko oven, element and fan replaced and asko microwave oven fuse replaced, total cost $490, not happy. Won't buy asks again even discounted 90%. All appliances both same date. Gas cooktop.. No problem yet. Cheaper brands have better lifespan. At least you can throw it away if got broken.  Show details

Didn't last 5 years - not worth the extra $ – Bought this machine 4 years ago, and have had one service call under warranty. The machine cleaned the dishes well and was fairly quiet. Rang Asko and was told it was probably the central processing unit and would cost over… Read more

$400 to fix. Considering it cost me more than twice the cost of my last dishwasher that lasted 8 years, it certainly wasn't value for money. Going back to a Becko for less than $500!

Cleans dishes better than I can – When our last Asko dishwasher died after 6 or so years (electrical issue), we bought this as a replacement. Works great, is simple and easy to use and is relatively quiet when in operation. The regular wash feature is all I've needed to use, though there are many other options available. It wont dry your dishes as it doesn't have an inbuilt fan,… Read more

Best Of The Best – I have 2 Asko dishwashers, one for home and one for holiday house and love them both. Asko make many claims of why they are the best, and they live up to every claim. They have all the features the others have, however there are 3 that stand out - 1. The on/off button is inside door so you save on electricity with no standby feature or accidental… Read more

turn on.

2. A small slide out/in draw, full enclosed, for sharp knifes etc (no accidental cuts) and 3. My favorite, that is unique to Asko, the drying fan that ensures your glasses, plastics and all stainless steel comes out totally dry and hygienically clean.

Asko have a great on line and one on one customer service, which I have not had to use, however, prior to my first Asko purchase I did my research and talked to people who have an Asko dishwasher, and they had nothing but great reviews on the customer service.

In conclusion, I recommend, spend the extra and get the best.

Perfect! – The Asko dishwashing machine not only looks great but cleans everything great. I have never used such an effective dishwasher, and it is so quiet. We have now had this for 4 or 5 years and it is still running great and doesn't look like showing any sign of wear and tear.  Show details

DIed after four weeks; endless hassle, hate it – I bought an Asko because I thought that spending the extra money would mean a good quality, reliable dishwasher. Boy, was I wrong. The dishwasher worked fine for four weeks, then refused to pump out dirty water. while, then the same thing happened. I finally gave up, contacted Asko and demanded a replacement, which took A MONTH to get here. Now, just two months on, the same thing has happened with the new machine. I am so sick of living with this piece of junk and am bitterly regretting buying it. I will not buy another Asko appliance.

Sold on the brand quality, but it's a dog – We bought this for our new home because we thought Asko produced quality appliances. We were wrong. This has been a disaster and hasn't worked from about 6 months (it's now just less than 3 years old). I joined Product Review to write this review. The drain doesn't work properly, the water builds up and every 2-3 weeks I need to clear this out… Read more

with a shot glass. It's a disgusting job. The table often doesn't dissolve, which means it's being flicked out too late, or the water is not working properly to dissolve it. And the dishes just don't get clean like they should. I had a Smeg in my last apartment and should have stayed with that - it never failed and delivered great results.

A technician came out after 8 months but this didn't resolve the problem. My bad choice is not continuing on with my complaints with Asko. The busy combination of work, life, kids etc and being a 'passive' consumer meant I just lived with it, until I got so annoyed with it and called them a month ago. Warranty is 2 years so that's their position, rather than admit the fact the product is faulty.

So here's what I'd recommend:

* If you are looking to buy a dishwasher, don't buy this Asko model. It's bad.

* If you have an Asko dishwasher and it doesn't work 100%, call them constantly in your 2 year warranty period, make sure the calls are logged, and ensure it's resolved. A long call history will ensure it's rectified even after warranty.

Perfect – A dishwasher is useless, unless it does it'd job properly. And this one does, everything comes out sparkling clean. It's good to look at,runs very quietly, and uses minimum water. And is fast on ordinary dishes, big longer for pots and pans. All in all I'm a very satisfied customer, and would recommend this appliance to everyone.  Show details

Great Dishwasher - real quality – Low water usage, easy to load/unload, quality sprayer steel arms (not plastic); cleans dishes well and dries okay as long as you open the door when the cycle finishes, otherwise water recondenses on the dishes. It runs quietly, this one is even quieter than the previous one we had - hardly know it's on unless the water is draining out or filling; the actual operation is so quiet. Reliable - I'd only buy Asko - this is my 3rd in almost 30 years  Show details

Love it. Very sturdy inside fittings. Washes very well – Very quiet. Washes well. Second asko I have purchased due to high quality and performance. Wouldn't buy any other brand. Continual faults - have to pay each time – We bought this machine four years ago. Does not clean well. What is worse is we were happy to buy a quality machine and parted with the best part of $1500. Machine won't start – machine started giving problems with the display. Would start itself again and buttons would work intermittently. After a few weeks the buttons have stopped working all together. Machine is a little over 3 years old. Would have expected to get a bit longer from what is branded as a premium appliance. Very disappointing and not worth the money!  Show details

Just great – This has replaced my last Asko which we had for approximately 12 years. We are happy.
