Not happy. Asko W2084C Purchased May2025 for $1,500 (sale) at AdelaideApplianceGallery W2084C is very hard to use. And we had an Asko before this model (W6441 Quattro rated at 4.3 stars!!!) which was very easy to use. Completely backwards design for the W2084 (rated 2.1 stars!!!). The single worst features are: 1. the control/user interface 2.… Read more
the programs and optional settings
For info: we wash the full range of household clothes. we keep comparing to the old Asko W6441 which was so easy to use. the W2084 washes quite well but has all the usage problems mentioned below.
1. the control/user interface - there has been an annoying move in user interfaces for European appliance (e.g. our European oven is the same annoying design) to a single line display, with few buttons, where selections and settings are mostly hidden. One has to cycle through many many options until the desired ones are found for selection. Give me back buttons like on the old W6441! - when the machine is running the only way to display the program or settings chosen is to press a button. - There is NO actual information as to how far through a cycle the machine has progressed, only a time remaining which keeps changing. The time should indicate this but it keeps changing every few minutes by up to 30 mins. and total time can vary from the initial display estimate by as much as 40 mins. Crazy! - interface looks neat and pretty for marketing purposes but is “fashion over design” when it comes to using it. And THIS is what customers will remember!
2. the programs and optional settings - the programs are annoying. Each program has exceptions such as only cold water, maximum of 3Kg, extremely long run time, only low spin rates allowed etc.. What is the point of having these options if half can’t be selected for any given program. By all means have defaults for every program but please allow ALL options to be selected for EVERY program, then a customer can actually setup a useful program to run. - 8KG loads advertised. Not told it is only some programs. Dishonest! - the Mode options “Speed” etc. seem useful at first to tailor a chosen program but there is no indication of what they do, and as soon as one mode is chosen (e.g. “speed”) then NO information is given on how water usage etc. etc. may change. Also when “SPEED” is chosen the initial time shown is reduced but during washing the remaining time can increase greatly to more than NOT having “SPEED” selected. So what is the point of the “SPEED” option? - we would like to setup a program that has approx. 40C temp, runs a maximum of one hour, minimises water usage, takes 8KG (as advertised for this model), uses max. spin rate. If these settings don’t produce the best wash then that is our choice. But there is no way to even choose such a program. -Only option on "Spin only" takes 17 minutes. What? No shorter choice for a few simple clothes that don't need to be highly spun).
3. Failures - We get out of balance errors all the time. The machine often recovers and continues but this recovery adds many many minutes to the run time. Quite often however the machine doesn't recover (usually on the final Spin cycle) and one finds the machine stopped - one has to then restart the Spin cycle which can fail a few more times thus extending the total program cycle by an extra 10-40 mins. [Name Removed] (Customer Care support person at Asko Australia) tried hard to be helpful but his advice fails. He suggested that loads on Spin need to be largish to maintain balance. Doesn't help - we have tried medium and maximum loads on Wash and Spin - Spin fails about 50% of the time no matter what we do and a restart is required. And even worse, when the Asko stops DURING a spin cycle the display says “program successfully completed “. Waste of time. Seems to be a known problem when searching the web for the W2084 - Asko have a design issue with their "out of balance" sensor!
4. Other - When door is left open the long hard sharp plastic door catch is very painful and harmful if bumped with one's leg. - the Asko online survey comment field (Asko web site) is way tooooooo short. Only allows a few lines of text. - W2084C: 8KG loads advertised. Not told it is only some programs. Dishonest. - AdelaideApplianceGallery Sales were as helpful as possible but we chose the wrong model.
- I DID search for W2084 here in ProductReview.com.au BEFORE purchase but at the time (May 2025) NO reviews for that model came up. Web site glitch? If I had read the reviews I would NOT have bought this model!
Please Asko - if we can get a tradein on this model we'll buy a different model!!

Do NOT buy this machine. It is extremely loud and vibrates our entire apartment. The feature I use the most is the 'Delay Cycle' so that I can start my washing before I wake up in the morning. I cannot use this function due to the noise. Had a technician out and he said this is normal sound for this machine. Claimed it was due to me being in an… Read more

I purchased a XL Steam quattro in October 2024. 3 times at least it has error messages indicating blockage....I go through procedures for unblocking but unfortunately there is no way to remove filter unless it gets broken. Machine blew up mid spin-cycle and flooded my laundry – The heater failed after 3.5 years. I replaced it for $450. At 5 years old the entire machine blew up (unrelated to the heater) and flooded my laundry. It looked like the drum spring came loose or failed part way through a spin cycle. When this happened, the whole house started shaking as the machine continued to try to spin. Expensive trash. Don’t… Read more
waste your money. UPDATE: Asko contacted me after posting this review and arranged to collect it. They also offered to refund the purchase price as a goodwill gesture. I can’t fault the Asko customer service.
Stay away – I purchased this machine after a Bosch failed after 12 years. It came down to the Asko and the Bosch, so I thought I would give the Asko a go due to the steel seal design. After purchasing I saw the negative reviews and though it was just as people with positive experiences don't often write reviews. I wish I read the reviews before making the… Read more
purchase. I have had the machine for 6 days and everything seemed okay (I did notice water getting trapped in the seal on day 1, but Asko told me this is normal unless it is a lot of water) until it leaked from the front this morning. Called customer support and the length of their queues give you an indication that lots of other people must be having issues. They were not helpful and gave the ridiculous response that I must have used too much detergent and that the machine needs barely any detergent to wash as it relies on mechanical action. This is completely at odds with the manual that tells you to use the liquid detergent manufacturer's observations. I explained this to the support person and was dismissed. I now have to wait a week for a technician where the service person told me that I may or may not be charged for the callout. I would actually like this faulty machine to be returned and refunded given it failed early on but the service person would have nothing of that. So now I have a machine that will probably continue to leak and damage my floors. The design of the machine also means that the leaking water is sitting in the metal tray at the base that can't be accessed to dry it. Asko were efficient once my complaint was escalated, with a resolution of collecting the machine and refunding.
Self Destructed – Purchased in July 2018 (so 5 months out of warranty). Running a normal cycle on the weekend when an almighty racket from the laundry brought us all running. Found that the drum had detached from it's mounts during spin cycle threatening to bash the machine through the laundry wall. Contacted ASKO who attempted to put me through to someone… Read more
technical (on hold voice message indicated that the tech support could not offer technical advice !!!) Waited but not put through. Replaced next day with F & P unit.
Can you believe it! It leaks from the front door. WTH – We've used this washing machine for a month. I've used front loaders for over 15 years and this is the first time a washing machine has leaked from the front door. Unbelievable. ASKO service is non existent. I was on hold for 20 mins with no answer. Outrageous! Check out the image. Show details

Satisfied with longevity & performance in less than ideal conditions – Purchased another Asko replacing our initial front loader purchased 2011. Both then & now Asko remains exxy vs mainstream brands and even more so vs rising Asian brands from Korea & China but it's the only front loader with a floating stainless drum without perishable bellows that eventually become susceptible to leaks, mould or smells. down from larger capacity top loaders the smaller Asko worked hard washing multiple loads per week & tolerated young adult children with no machine empathy leaving screwdrivers, keys, coins & other unfriendly objects to rattle around inside the machine. Repair costs can be high as per any Euro but we did most of our own maintenance with guidance from online resources. Clothes always came out clean with less wear tear than previous top loaders, reduction in (rain) water & power consumption was noticeable & reasonably quiet for a laundry machine. Mechanically our 2011 model was still plugging away but electronic control panel became unstable after 12 hard years so we splashed out on an upgraded model from same brand. 11 months later & the replacement hasn't missed a beat.
Great Product – Have had the machine for 6 months and I am very pleased with it. The design allows a spin of 1400 revs with out any vibration of the chassis. It has a quick wash setting and also a pause button to allow the adding of further items to the wash. The controls are easy to use and there are multiple options. There is no problem with mold which develops on most other machine door seals. Show details
The best machine I've ever owned!!! – I absolutely love my Asko Machines! I have the washing machine, Heat pump dryer and dishwasher in this brand and top say in ecstatic with them is an understatement. Went from having Bosch appliances ( which I will never own again) to the Asko appliances and I'm glad I did. They cost more to buy as a premium product but the longevity of gotten from them so far far outweighs their costing. Thanks Asko for providing such a fantastic product. Show details

Do not buy this washing machine! It is incredibly loud and poorly supported. A typical spin cycle emits 90 decibels of earth shattering noise. That's louder than most lawn mowers. When we contacted Asko service and said that two screws on the front panel had come loose - probably from the excess vibration - they advised that the screws were not… Read more
replaceable spare parts. Care factor was about zero. The machine is now almost three years old and has been excessively noisy from day one. And yes, it was installed by an Asko professional. It was more expensive than most of the other options on the showroom floor, but we thought we were buying a premium product and the difference was worth it. We thought wrong. Aside from the noise, it's no better or worse than our previous Fisher & Paykel or LG washing machines. But the noise is unbearable. And with eight people in our household, the clunky contraption is used quite a bit. Several times a day. Even the neighbours are complaining. Sadly the drier is not much better - but we'll come to that in a separate review. No, save yourself the earaches and avoid purchasing this brand of laundry appliance. There are quieter and cheaper options available. I don't usually write bad reviews, but in this instance I feel compelled to share our pain.
Poor quality expensive machine – Purchased in2021 just after 2years drum seal started leaking damaging bearing and shaft Asko replaced under good will now 18 months later leaking again I expected this machine to last ten years but it turns out to be a load of expensive junk shame on you for selling rubbish stay clear of this brand Show details
Asko are expensive and doesn’t last – Purchased the $2k machine with the steel seal drum with the confidence that it hopefully would t leak through the seal like my last LG machine. After a couple of years guess what? It leaks through the bottom of the machine. Contacted them via email and of course it out of warranty. Expected way more longevity from an expensive machine. Crap customer service too. Do not buy this product. Show details

Don't purchase an ASKO Front Loader Washing Machine – We purchased an ASKO Front Loader W2084C - the machine's circuit board failed at the 18-month mark of use. However, under consumer law, we understand that the… Read more
manufacturer must reinstate the full two years of warranty. Oh! If we take our complaint to Consumer Affairs, it may happen that due to the cost of the machine ($1599), the manufacturer may be forced to provide 5 5-year warranty.
I would not recommend this brand. ASKO Customer Service would not replace the machine and insisted I wait five weeks to have it repaired. Dealing with their Customer Service in Australia has been a nightmare.
How lucky are you??????? – We paid a premium price for our ASKO W2084C washing machine hoping for a quality product with longevity. Unfortunately for us our machine only last 5 years. Water leak in the first year and completely stopped working within 3 years – We brought a brand new washing machine in hope that it would last (we were very wrong). Within the first 12mths it started leaking. We had the service technician come out a few time while under warranty, finally he worked out that it was leaking from the front door. He replaced it which was great. About a year later it stated leaking again (it… Read more
should have never been leaking) and E36 would appear on the user interface, this time it was not under warranty and we had to source our own technician. The water leak was coming from the detergent hose which was rubbing against the machine (extremely bad design) and the lower electrical board failed from water damage.
This washing machine was very expensive to purchase and also expensive to fit. I'm really disappointed in my experience with Asko appliances. I have written to them asking if they could cover the cost to fix my machine and have heard nothing from them. I wouldn't recommend this product or company.
an expensive Piece of Debris – This 5 year old washer has had a bearing failure and Asko have washed their hands of it. Asko have an expensive "fixed price" with their chartered agency agreement between themselves and their retailers. This brand that is touted as Swedish heritage, is now made in Slovenia. The 2 year warranty on everything is nothing like the Miele machine I was… Read more
comparing it to. The Miele was and currently is $100 more than the ASKO model but Miele offer a 2 year warranty and also the Miele quality assurance guarantee of another 10 years on the bearing ( tadarr!) the stainless steel drum and the brushless motors. If I had paid the extra for a Miele I would probably not have had a bearing failure for a washing machine servicing a young family, but if by chance it did fail, it would be covered by Miele's extensive, own quality assurance warranty. This is not a warranty that is at an extra cost, this is Miele's own inbuilt promise of long life quality. What a fool I was to think that the money saved an an ASKO was a good idea, to think that they are similar in build quality and engineering is now obviously ridiculous. My Miele dishwasher, is still chugging on these many years without missing a beat. The built in, self imposed warranty on the premium Miele product should have alerted me, but the sales person did not draw my attention to the huge warranty coverage differences and an onsite ASKO representative spoke so highly of the fame of the Swedish brand name and the heritage it came from. Well that clearly did not transfer to the new country of production. This ASKO product is commanding a premium price for what is a product that is really a cousin of the Gorenje Pacific brand. This was/is a cheap Slovenian built product that was ok for it's meagre price. This Asko product is way overpriced for a product that doesn't even last as long as my old, cheap Gorenje washer that delivered 12 years faithful service to my young family at it's $600 price, all those years ago. The ASKO washer barely made 5 years for my older family, it is cheaper to throw it away and buy a cheap Bosch or similar than to have it repaired by ASKO service, or I could bite the bullet and buy a Miele with it's huge warranty back up. Where are the Greens now with legislation on how long a machine should last with an exorbitant price tag? The energy and materials that went into making it, to only last 5 years is obscene . Surely there should be a minimum life expectancy for a machine before it needs a heart transplant, Miele obviously think so, their own inbuilt quality assurance warranty backs it up. Be careful what brands you invest big dollars into in these hard times. Make sure their warranty backs up their quality of construction claims, and don't believe the sales nonsense, check the facts yourself and the warranty back up. How can a $600 machine have the same warranty as a $2000 machine, they wash clothes, some for many more years than others at a fraction of the price. 5 years is what you expect out of any old piece of washing machine construction, however lowly the brand name. ASKO is overpriced, below average engineering. Yes it has a stainless steel inner and outer drum, that will shine brightly in the sun on the tip pile for a long time when the bearing fails.
Terrible. Don’t buy this product – Regular errors that stop a wash cycle. Had Asko out twice now, got told not to overfill the machine. We don’t overfill the machine but it keeps happening Spin cycle is so intense that the whole house vibrates. Doesn’t wash particularly well. Doesn’t particularly do a good job of removing stains. This just isn’t a very good product. Show details
Asko Customer Service has ceased – I purchased this washing machine in April 2022 after having had an ASKO for some 20 years and loved it. This machine developed a crack INSIDE the door, behind the glass after about 6 months. It is not an external crack, but Asko absolutely refuse to consider it as a warranty claim. Last time I will be buying Asko. It also leaks water and suds out the front of the machine which they also ignore. Not what they used to be as a company. Show details
This machine is Sheit – Not cheap, had leak issue with 2 years (fixed under warranty) then drum support failed after 2.5 years. Too expensive to fix, currently trying to get ASKO to replace or fix without charge. DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE. Show details

Unnecessarily sophisticated – I cried for weeks after buying this machine having been a VERY happy ASKO W6231 owner for 18 years. It took me months on this Asko W2084C to find a wash that treats the clothes reasonably well. Most cycle times are out of this world. Who can wait 2hours for a wash? So now I only use the TIME PROGRAM + ANTI-CREASE for everyday items [towels,… Read more
underwear, shirts, bed linen etc]. The ancient ASKO did Anti-Crease automatically and left the clothes in a smooth condition.
--When using the ADD CLOTHES function much of the water is drained so one doesn't really know what the detergent mix is after that. --I suspect because of that function the door is over complicated and heavy unlike the older models’ ones.
-- The display* drives me mad. One always has to wait [ASKO Inspired by Scandinavia, Grrr] before chosing a program and then dial through all the programs every time. To chose a FAVOURITE WASH is useless as they only have a number.
-- The manual does not explain with enough detail how exactly each wash works so one has to find out the hard way with ruined clothes.
-- My message to ASKO and most washing machine makers: Go back to buttons. All this software is very fancy but who needs 14 different programs when most folks only use 5 or 6. Buttons like on the old W6231 washing machine are much more intuitive and give more control. One can easily stop the program to make changes.
-- With all these really expensive items one only finds out the true functionality when the $$ have been handed over. At least so far it works with the odd ERROR occasion but it's only 10months old.
I have only ASKO appliances, most still from the olden days, but am not happy with this model. I did chose ASKO because of the stainless steel inners and hygenic door seal but this door is not progress. Too heavy, too much plastic, finicky opening time and to top it all: a PLASTIC LABEL on the upper right hand side saying OPEN HERE. Unbelievable. It may have been wiser to forego to ADD CLOTHES function and have a simpler door. This function was important to me before purchasing but now I know how it really works I avoid using it as it wastes water on the water saving machine ;-)
Positives: it really hardly needs any detergent.

Terrible Design- rips clothes apart – Liked the idea of this machine- less plastic, solid design. In reality it’s awful. We have owed it 3 weeks and it’s ripped three bras apart. Despite using laundry bags and putting as far back in the drum as possible, they end up at the door and catch in the lip. The door needs to be deeper to cover the inner lip. I will be returning the machine.… Read more
Its spin cycle is also pretty loud. I would not purchase this machine again as there is literally nothing I can do to stop it ripping items. Not fit for purpose.
A massive disappointment for what could have been a great washing machine – The first fault in my washing machine started less than 12 months after purchase when the electronic display stopped working. The machine still functioned but there was no way to tell what cycle it was on or how long to go, plus we could no longer use they add clothes function without the display working. It took almost 6 months for asko to… Read more
respond and I had to organize my own repairer to carry out the work. The new display lasted about 8 months before it too died. This time out of warranty. I called asko to purchase a replacement part seeing as I already have the experience in hiring a repairer to fix the machine myself. They have quoted nearly $500 for the part. I have continued to be able to use the machine without the display until yesterday when the drain pump has now died also. The machine can start and fill, but cannot drain and remains locked until I use the manual unlocking key (that was hidden in the underside of the soap dispenser not that anyone at asko would tell you but thankfully the people at the furniture store knew about.) This machine has struggled to perform washing the clothes and linen of a household of 2 people and sadly is bound for the junk yard just 3 years after purchase. Products this bad should be recalled or removed from sale in Australia. The 'warranty' should not be regarded or even included in the sale of Asko products as it is unlikely to be of any use to all customers who have to rely on it.
Faulty from the beginning. Don't buy ASKO – I purchased a new front loader after having an ASKO washing machine before. However, this one was causing issues from the start. The electronic panel would lit up, however, the 'play' button was temperamental and didn't always work. I always had to wait for about 2 weeks for a technician to come, just to tell me I was the only one having these… Read more
issues (despite the google search suggesting otherwise). On the second occasion, the ASKO technician dismantled it all and realized that the elect.panel was faulty, therefore, the washing machine was not working. This is less than a year after my purchase, still under a warranty. He told me they would not replace it and I would not get a refund. It could be only repaired. Which of course would take at least another 2 weeks. ASKO finds it perfectly normal to keep their customers waiting for a month to fix their faulty products.
The machine was good until we required service – As per another reviewer our 2.5 year old machine became non functional showing E36 error. I called Asko's "customer care" only to be told I was 52nd in line. I requested a call back. 2 days later I got a call back. Whilst waiting for a call back I liaised with a local authorised service agent who was very helpful and provided feed back as they… Read more
knew more. Eventually I was informed the error could be caused by either of 2 circuit boards and that they cost around $700 plus labour. So I'm up for around $1000 to fix a 2.5yr old $1500 washer. To add insult to injury, Asko has none of the parts in stock locally and I'd have to wait 3 - 4 wks for them to become available....Until this issue I was very happy with the machine. I will never buy another ASKO product again simply because of the after sales service, or I should say, lack of after sales service. So much for "customer care".
problems with service by ASKO – My machine is showing an error 36 message and won't work. I have contacted service agents who tell me they don't operate in our area, which is semi rural. Horrible. Avoid at all costs – Bought this machine from the good guys. Talked into purchase based on ASKO being ‘too of the range’ and ‘commercial quality.’ There’s a reason they have been discounted $300.. they want to get rid of them. both times water leaked from ‘somewhere’ and saturated the laundry floor. It works fine otherwise, but who wants a flooded laundry whenever a programme is interrupted? Not this little black duck! We thought we were buying a better quality, more reliable washer. Disappointed. UPDATE: after several flooding incidents, we insisted that Asko take the machine back for a full refund. Funnily enough, Asko agreed immediately and we now have a great Bosch front loader. Couldn’t be happier with it!
Regretful purchase Paid $1699 last month – Very disappointed with the lengths of time to wash any normal set of clothes. Also, why should a machine need to heat its own water when every house (99.99%) has running hot water. To my mind we are paying twice to heat water for washing1! Gave it two stars because as yet, it has NOT leaked nor broken down. Really regret choosing this one! Show details
Leaks, hard on clothes and takes forever to balance load for spinning because of poor design, S L O W – Other reports of difficulty closing and broken glass are probably due only to the removable sticker saying "Close Here" being put at the top of the door instead of over the catch on the right - so that's easily fixed. However, #1. This machine doesn't cope well with soap powders, which cake and block the outlet to the drum; #2. The body of the… Read more
soap dispenser is very shallow, so it overflows between the outer and inner case if the water pressure is too high or you use powder which blocks; #3. The connection from the drum is very short and the join to the drum is insecure, so it leaks when the load is not perfectly balanced - because there is insufficient damping and the drum movement is excessive for the length of the rubber connection; #4. Clothes get torn sometimes, because they are caught between the plastic inserts in the drum and the metal; #5. The programming is very poor: lots of time wasted doing nothing useful - for example the machine will not empty until the drum has been stationary for a full minute while the pump uselessly recirculates water, preventing the clothes from draining, and after giving up on a spin it goes through 2 cycles of rebalancing instead of one before re-trying and it may get stuck in this loop for 20 minutes or more. As a result this machine will not often complete a wash in less than 2 hours. We kept our machine for a little over 2 years, before the frequency of leaks finally got to us and we have now bought a high-end Bosch for only 10% more money. I am sure I'll find problems with that one too, but we all really appreciate the ability to use soap powders without leaking, the much more effective load balancing and vibrationless spin, resulting in genuine 1-hour wash times, and the load-measurement water saving feature make me very sorry we waited this long to ditch the Asko

same fault happens again.. we have now been waiting since October 2020 for the part - machine is clearly faulty however Asko have been terrible to deal with. We have to constantly chase them up and now it has been 4 months with a washing machine we have been unable to use. As a ‘gesture of goodwill’ Asko have offered to repair it free of charge. It’s a very expensive washing machine to have just sitting there unable to do anything with! Their parts are obviously hard to get if anything goes wrong with the machine. Wish we had bought a different brand. Would not recommend Asko or their products to anyone - we are VERY disappointed.
