Asko W622 Washing Machine - Excellent workhouse that simply will not die! – Washes everything, delicate, heavy work clothes al perfectly. Always reliable. Easy to use. Owned for so long cannot remember when I bought it. Congratulations ASKO great product probably will outlast me!
18 years and still going strong after $50 repair – Awesome washing machine, served well for long time but after 18 years the drum stopped spinning. Wanted to call out authorised repairer (Asko call centre was very helpful recommending a bunch locally), but the costs of $100 per call out and $35 per 10 minutes got me thinking and researching what can be wrong. 30 minutes later found that it could… Read more
be the drive belt or carbon brushes on the motor that wear out usually after 7-10 years.
- Checked the belt quickly by removing back cover and it was still looking and spinning fine, must be brushes then - Ordered carbon brushes on *bay - $26 - Got a ratchet set and 300mm adjustable wrench (to disconnect water) from *unnings - $25 - Extra 13cm spanner from a friend - free - Downloaded service manual and looked up video on *tube how to take out motor and change brushes - free
Two days and $51 later machine is back into action hopefully for another 10+ years. Thanks Asko!
14 years and going strong – I like the control it gives me to determine the wash style. It once, many years ago age us trouble using eco friendly detergents and ended up with grey sghadows on our clothes but the service tech pointed us to use OMO and it was back to normal. The liquid tray has got mouldy from time to time so I keep the drawer open to air it out after cleaning… Read more
it, of course, until the problem seems to go away. Have pulled off the fins to clean fro time to time too. Does get smelly so it's good to do a clean once in a while. Can't say I've done it too often though. We bought it because it was the greenest option at the time.

Have been happy with asko! – I have had 2 asko‘s and before that i had a hoover! Being European background i was used of using frontloader machines since childhood! My mum had her fronloader for 30 yrs and brought over from germany when migrating , was 20 years old at the time of migrating, and she was able to use for another 10 years in Aus ! (Was a ZANKER not known here) I… Read more
know this is irrelevant to some people but when u migrate to australia in the 80‘s there were very few frontloading machines!
So i got talked into a hoover top loader! Huge machine with huge water inlet and the Agitator, is not gentle on the clothes so your clothes don't last! I got my 1st asko after talking to another couple and they had everything in asko! Dishwasher washer dryer! Very happy !
I purchased asko and it was expensive for me with 2 little kids ... and was very happy with the outcome and cleanliness of the clothes!
And it is gentle on the clothes unlike the top loader! I have read some complaints about the noise when spinning and the F3... well some people just like to complain about anything! This is why u get a manual and read instruction! It is there for a reason and protection for your machine so it doesn't get damaged! No need to call out anyone to fix You can do Yourself!
I had the basic model, don't need fancy, but even though basic it has a lot of features that the other front loaders that made their way to the market didn't have! I like the quick wash... when it doesn't need a full wash but is still clean, and saves water and time! Now there r quiet a few machines that do that as well, but back then they didn't!
Regards noise, as i said some people just like to complain! If you have a door shut the door or put washing on when you go out or the like! At least you dont have to wash by hand and squeeze out any excess water by hand!
My 1st asko was only 4.5 lg.... they didnt come in bigger sizes! Was happy with it and had heaps of use with little ones and i am quiet fussy when it comes to washing clothes, (ask hubby he is Aussi btw)
Anyway i purchased a 2nd asko and had now for 10 years and still going strong.
I use every day and this was with lots of washing foe teenagers and general washing! It is important to have a reliable washing mashine in a family household or there is chaos!
Also for quiet a few years we lived on property with your own water supply (tank with rainwater) so the use of water or how much we used was very crucial, and was happy with asko in this regard as well
Disappointing – The machine was bought in 2007, but hasn't been used all that time. We were away for 2 years so the machine has really only been used for about 6years. I was not expecting to have to replace this machine yet, with the price that was paid I would have hoped for at least 10 years out of it. for the past 2 or so years the door has not opened… Read more
automatically after the wash cycle had finished. Annoying as this is, its not that much of an ordeal to hold down the button to open it. It has, on and off, not always spun the clothes properly and is quite a noisy machine. It also made our towels very hard and rough. Unfortunately, f3 has been flashing up on our display. Followed instructions in the manual but has not fixed the issue. Before f3 appeared the machine seemed to be stuck on a wash cycle. so it would finish, but was unable to open the door and then the cycle would start all over again, followed by f3 on the display. Very frustrating with three little ones at home and not having a machine to use. It appears that to have someone come and look at the machine is quite expensive. so having considered possible costs of having someone come look at the machine, service it and possibly replace parts, it may be worth cutting our losses and buying a new machine. Bitter pill to swallow, as the money put away for Christmas will need to "borrowed" to purchase new machine.
I'm not sure if I'll be buying another asko just yet. Maybe a cheaper machine will last just as long.
good front loader – Really happy with this machine. It is my second asko front loader. The first one lasted 10 years. I hated it at first as cycles took longer and I couldn't add any clothes once it had started - you know the sock that you dropped. I did not appreciate how well it cleaned clothes and how gentle it was until we stayed at mums and used her top loader… Read more
(good brand and top model) for several weeks- I hated it and couldn't wait to get back to my front loader. That was really the point of conversion. I no longer had to pre spray my husbands white work shirt collars. It did break down once and while asko service was not cheap, it was prompt - a lovely man came between xmas and new year and I was very happy with the service. My husband is a professional therefore his clothes do not get dirty at work and I have one girl who did do oz kick and grass stains came out OK.
I like that it fills with cold water only and heats the water itself. As you don't use it from your cylinder you are less likely to run out of hot water. The downside is you are using electricity to heat the water which may be more expensive than a gas hot water system.
This new machine is also gentle and has many more better features I love it and it is much improved on since older model. has a spin only and rinse only cycle. Am very happy so far, it is only new so time will tell re any repairs or problems Really pleased I got it. gets clothes clean. gentle on clothes. good water economy. digital display allows you to see how long cycle will take befoir you press start, and counts down so you know how long the cycle has to go. cost, however i did shop around and got a price I was happy with. Cycles do take a long time and you can't throw in anything you forgot as with a top loader - this machine however does allow you to stop a cycle and open the door after it empty's the water.

10 years of great service – We have had our ASKO Washer and Dryer for 10 years now and are happy with both. We just called for service for the first time because there is a problem with the drum not turning, but prior to that have had no complaints. It washes well, uses little water, heats its own water so it isn't a hot-water hog, and is quite quiet. My only complaint is there is only one company that services them. Show details
I'm trying to love it, but – This is my second ASKO front load washer and I won't be convinced to change brands, but... As with so many other reviewers, mine occasionally fails to spin the clothes dry, occasionally the door fails to open at the end of the cycle, and occasionally the F3 fault occures. perfectly level. I'm OCD about checking for foreign objects before each load (there's only me in my house, so only my laundry). I occasionally check the pin trap for foreign objects (never found any), and occasionally put the machine through a rinse cycly empty. Despite my best attempts, I still get the occasional fault. On each occasion I have set the machine to do a rinse cycle which has resulted in the clothes being properly spun dry and the door opening- effective, but really not what I'd expect of an ASKO.
Worked hard for 10 years – We have abused this machine for 10 years , sometimes 10 loads a day with 3 small kids. Yes we got the F3 fault, every time i had to just empty the pin trap that was usually full of coins from not emptying pockets .If this trap is blocked, obviously the water does not drain well. I would not buy ASKO again – The machine is 10 years old. It has always been noisy and goes off balance easily. 2 towels, a bath mat, a face towel and hand towel frequently sends it off balance, to the point where I have had to open the drawer and remove clothes. I now find the water softener compartment is retaining liquid. After the first couple of years the automatic door catch stopped working and I have had to always manually open it. I would never buy ASKO again.
Considering price - not value for money after 8 years – A relatively expensive washing machine and initially I was very happy with my Asko W6222. I don't wash every day, lucky to do 2 washes a week. After 8 years of less than normal usage it decided not to spin. I took it to a technician (recommended by Asko sales support Melbourne) in Hobart and had dramas with them. Apparently it needed a new valve… Read more
ball, bellow hose and clamp. The valve ball is no longer in stock. The technician replaced the retaining ring that holds the valve ball in place plus a hose clamp for well over $300. After that it worked for a couple of washes and then stopped spinning again. I'll be buying another brand from now on.
Expected better for the price – This machine has had a lot of issues since we bought it. Leaks, hard on clothes, failure to drain, door very hard to close, to name a few. It's always been very noisy, and now sounds like a jet engine taking off during spin cycle. (The technician could not find fault.) It sporadically drains before reaching set temperature. sure, but tried installing new thermister.) Nope, still same problem. And since it was serviced a couple of weeks ago, the machine has started to bang against its housing, even during the wash cycle. We've rebooked the service, but it seems like throwing more money (will still have to pay for labour and more parts) after a failing appliance. Probably better to put the money towards a new machine, and it won't be a "top quality" Asko this time.

Asko W6222 washing machine rubbish – Purchased new 8 years ago, very expensive Swedish machine, computer has failed , won't go through cycles, keeps filling up with water, door is hard to close and stay shut. . Loud machine, not value for money – We purchase Asko, and paid the premium, because we thought we would be getting a premium product. Sounds like an angle grinder – Loved it in the beginning but for a machine that is only about 5 yrs old it all of a sudden sounds like someone is using an angle grinder in the the house. Soon after we got it, it started showing error messages. I thought it was just our old house and prob bad electrics. After spending a fair bit of money on it, its disappointing that you now have to sell an organ to pay for a service. I wouldn't buy one again.
so annoying – Purchased this washing machine new and it worked for a while. It now regularly gets error message f3. It doesn't spin at the end of the cycle and you end up with wet clothes a LOT. Such a pain emptying the water by hand all the time. Would not recommend this machine. Paid more thinking it would be quality but am disappointed.

Most disappointing washing machine ever – Bought 2007, expecting 15 years minimum. Looking to replace as soon as possible. Door has not automatically opened for 2 years, nice thumping sound when water filling it, settings never correct. Had serviced 3 to 4 times, no more as it is too expensive. Don't trust this brand and will never consider Asko again.
Terrible machine, 1st & last Asko I will purchase – Same as most other reviews, this machine constantly fails to drain &/or finish its cycle. Also fills and empties continuously on occasion, which is annoying when you work full time and have a busy family life. life expectancy. I wanted a Miele but was conned into an Asko.
Below is a copy of my original email of complaint I sent to Asko
Hi there
I am the owner of a front loader model number W6222
The machine was purchased brand new in 2007 for a premium price. I bought the machine based on product research,
reviews and also reputation after extensive research.
The machine as I had it sold to me was on the assumption that I could expect at least 15 or perhaps even 20 years of life expectancy based on the way Asko builds their products.
That is that one man builds the machine from the ground up, less plastic and more stainless steel, pex burst proof hosing, and so on.
The machine earlier this year developed a major fault a the heat pump was replaced at a cost of around $350 at the time.
A few days ago the machine stopped working, and I couldn't work out what the issue was.
We had a service man from Asko out this morning and we were informed that the motor was gone and that a further $500 would be required to repair the machine.
Considering we had already paid $350 earlier this year when the same person from your company personally repaired the machine, and that now a further $500 would be required to fix the machine, plus the initial $1500 price tag,
I hardly believe that I have actually gotten what we actually paid for that is,
1) Minimum life expectancy?
2) Quality?
3) premium product?
I have had a close look at consumer law in general and I have concluded that I actually have a case to argue that I was misled into buying a product and paying a premium for a life expectancy that we simply haven't received.
I would class a new motor as a major fault in the product and a serious defect, and this is over and above that six months earlier another major defect occurred with the heat pump having to be replaced.
I have friends and family who have had Miele for over ten years without a problem and I'm only sorry now that I didn't purchase Miele to begin with.
if Asko truly values their customers, like your price tag and reputation says, then perhaps something can be done here for myself and perhaps either Asko repair the machine at a substantially reduced price or conversely the cost of the repair is taken off the cost of a new machine.
If on the other hand Asko doesn't care for its customers, then simply do nothing, and I will go another washing machine,
but I will begin to mount a case that I believe Asko has to answer as to why a major defect has occurred at half the expected life of such a premium product.
But for now, I'll leave it in your hands
Regards
Below is what Asko answered to me
Hi Mario,
Thanks for your email.
I’m sorry to hear of the issued you have experienced with your Asko washing Machine. I am currently looking into your situation and will be in touch within the next 48 hours.
I would like to thank you in advance for your patience while I investigate this for you.
Vannyda
Customer Care Consultant
This was my return email where I detailed, where I believe they are at fault as per our consumer guarantees
Hi Vannyda
Thanks for your email, I appreciate you taking the time to at least try and offer a solution to our problem.
I have taken the time to reflect on this now, that I am home and I have arrived at the following conclusion.
I have researched the model I own and some of your newer models, and it does appear on the surface that based on product review website that the rate of complaints about failure within your products is of an extremely high percentage, given to how Asko portrays itself as a product built on quality.
I have looked at a few different models, and that number is way too high for my liking, considering, the hefty price tags and reputation that go along with your products. I would expect that failure rate among cheaper Chinese or Korean models, not top end European models.
To tell you I’m disappointed is really an understatement.
The product was sold to me on the basis that I was buying an elite product, that would give me many years of enjoyment and be free of major defects based on reputation, price, quality and recommendations and representations made by Asko preferred dealers.
On this subject, I have looked closely and extensively and read what consumer law actually states in regards to warranties and life expectancy, and whether the product sold or bought as I have in this instance, was indeed fit for the purpose for which it was originally sold to me.
On that note, I would have expected, that ten years be a reasonable and modest figure of life expectancy, free of major defects to the product.
I won’t even mention the fifteen and twenty year figure that was quoted to me or furthermore that the machine was simulated and tested for twenty thousand hours of expected life expectancy??????
As stated earlier if the machine was bought approximately eight years ago with a $1500 price tag and I consider the cost of the pump which I replaced earlier this year, which is now useless to me as the machine is in effect dead, then
To be expected that I should have to look at paying a total of $850 which is the cost of the pump, plus the new motor, which equates to more than fifty percent of the value of a new equivalent machine today from your own website, with a full manufacturer’s warranty, less than ten years after the initial purchase, and that the expectation is that, this is normal wear and tear, is simply and totally unacceptable on my account, and a complete and total mockery of everything that Asko as a company strides to stand for.
If we take what I have just described above and apply the consumer guarantee which I am afforded un Australian Law, it states the following
Products must:
• be of merchantable quality, which means free of obvious defects and meet basic levels of quality and performance for their price and description
• be fit for purpose, which means do everything usually expected and as you described to the salesperson
if I look at the first reference, I don’t believe the product I purchased to have the levels of quality and performance based on price that I paid and the description given to me?
Asko cannot prove to me beyond reasonable doubt, that I would not have been better off purchasing say an $800 Chinese imported model.
That the product be fit for the purpose for which is was sold, and do everything expected as described and sold to me?
Once again, I also disagree with this, because a major defect has developed at half way through the time period that Asko believe the machine should have lasted without major defects, is hardly a means to classify that the product is and was indeed fit for the purpose that it was originally sold. Hmmm let me see, what was I told, fifteen years minimum or twenty thousand hours, sorry but I haven’t achieved either of these.
Once again, Asko cannot categorically say or prove beyond reasonable doubt to me, or anybody else in this instance, that I would not have been better off with say a cheaper machine, or indeed an equivalent competitors machine say like a Miele?
In viewing this and thinking on it, I have concluded that anything other than a new washing machine to me is completely unacceptable,
I will state this openly, I will not entertain a discounted repair, or even a free repair for the machine, not to mention, the $100 it cost to have your service man come out to my house and tell me that the machine has done a motor. On that note, I would have been better off marching myself down to the casino and placing my $100 on the roulette table on either red or black, at least then I would have been given a 50% chance of doubling my money, that may not sound like much, but it’s a hell of a lot more than the hand I was dealt this morning when Asko arrived on my premises and relieved me of $100 for ten minutes of work wasn’t it?
The closest equivalent model Asko currently have is the W6444A as described on your website at a RRP of $1499
My proposal is simple and fair and not unreasonable given what has occurred this year with the machine.
You deliver and install the W6444A and offer me the additional three year Asko extended warranty, remove the older machine, which you can keep, and I will forget the matter, and consider it concluded on my behalf.
Anything other than that, I will be forced to go out and purchase another machine, not from Asko, but a Miele as I originally wanted, and then I will begin the process to recover the money spent initially to purchase your product as a means of compensation
There is no doubt in my mind that Asko has a clear cut, open and shut case to answer to here, in regards to Consumer Guarantees and whether the product that was sold to me, and at the price that I paid, as to whether I did indeed receive a minimum life expectancy, and whether the purpose that it was sold for was indeed initially correct to begin with. I most certainly beg to differ, and I have no doubt that Consumer Affairs would agree with me.
I understand you have asked for 48 hours, however I am not prepared to agree to this.
We have been without a working washing machine since last Thursday being the 8th October. I would deem a week is a long time for a family of six people to be without a basic fundamental item such as a washing machine, wouldn’t you agree?
Regards
And this was the solution Asko offered as measure of the amazing generosity

My last washing machine was an old Hoover front loader that I had to replace with a bigger machine. Had it for for over 10 years and it never missed a beat, I miss it small as it was.
disappointed with our Asko W6222 also – It is about 4 years old and not washing the full cycle - just stops after a few minutes. I thought buying the dearer ASKO washing machine it would last longer - I think my best option is just go and buy another washing machine but not an ASKO.
