Will never purchase another Asko – An expensive piece of junk. After 4 years the top (or bottom) computer board needs replacing (but they don’t know which one so we may have to replace both) Parts are expensive - it’s cheaper to buy a new machine. Very disappointed with Asko washing machine. Will not be buying this brand again. Show details
Genuinely awful washing machine – We’ve owned this machine for a few years now and have to say it’s probably the worst appliance we have ever purchased. We had the original machine replaced by Asko because the original machine was so bad. Now we have an ongoing door release problem and parts are insanely expensive. Will never buy overpriced Asko ever again. Show details
Rusty Asko....very disappointed – The machine washes beautifully, hot or old wash. We are a household of 2 so it is only used 3-4 times weekly. My terrible disappointment comes from the quality of the cabinet. It is rusting everywhere. Initially I thought it was dust and wiped it only to have the paint peel off. Now I see signs of rust in multiple spots....around the edges. I have… Read more
a Fisher & Paykel Dryer that is 36 years old, been located in the garage of 3 homes and it doesn’t have a speck of rust to be seen. I bought my son a F & P 9 years ago, he lives near a beach and it has not got a speck of rust anywhere.
I contacted Asko about 4 months ago when I first noticed the problem, explained it was 4.5 years since purchase, I’d paid insurance for double the warranty but the answer was sorry, can’t help you with rust. I can assure you it is not my care of the product but poor quality workmanship that has caused the issue. Would NEVER buy another expensive ASKO machine.

Very frustrating - never buy ASKO again – Purchased ASKO W6864 in June 2017 thinking that this would be a good quality machine; this was backed up by all the statements at Adelaide Appliance Gallery (Mr Dishwasher) at St Peters. The original machine failed with numerous problems and was deemed unrepairable by September 2017 and replaced by ASKO (door, belt and PCB problems, same as… Read more
everyone else). The second machine went well until it too developed belt noises and PCB problems in April 2018. Both items replaced on separate visits by ASKO, after numerous call and time wasting, time off work, including one day that the technician never turned up as promised! ASKO didn't care.
Fast forward to June 2019 and guess what, the belt is making strange noises again, especially when starting the spin and a new grinding noise appeared on Saturday morning as the machine was trying to spin the towels. Now I need to call ASKO again... oh and wait, it's just out of warranty! More time off work (already spent 6 days in the past 2 years just trying to have a working washing machine.
Washes well when it works, but very poor quality control/poor quality parts that just don't go the distance. Frankly, ASKO machines are now a waste of time and energy and money... and my fault in all of this... ? Oh, that's right, I spent $1800 buying a 'quality' appliance! NEVER, NEVER, NEVER AGAIN ASKO... are you listening Crt Prasnikar???
Fantastic well built Swedish design – We recently invested in an Asko washing machine, having been inspired by the history of a Swedish built product. We were looking for the best quality machine on the market, but an affordable price, built tough and with great engineering. We were recommended this model from the sale assisistant when we asked the question...Does this leave residue… Read more
on clothing?? We'd had no luck with two previous models, different brands with cleaning clothes thoroughly. So after investigating further and with the recommendation, we decided on the Asko W6864 model. And impressed we were! It was one of only two on the market that doesn't have a rubber seal on the barrel, which has been the problem all along. Grease and lint would gather in the seal on the barrel, and this then transferred onto clothing. We have been so impressed with the quality of wash, even on very short cycles of 30mins. With temperature adjustments, cycle choices from very short to very long...and thorough we have been extremely happy with this unit. We have no hesitation in recommending this to families who have clothing that gets either greasy or extremely dirty...it washes very very well. Take a chance on a quality built unit, with fantastic capabilities, at a very affordable price. You will not be disappointed.
Amazing Machine – I had an ASKO for over 16 years, and used it minimum 2 times a day. When this machine died, the place I went to advised me to try a Miele. I did this, and although I did like the Miele, I always thought the ASKO was way better. The very first thing that I missed was the MIele and all other brands have that horrible Gasket/bellow inside the… Read more
door. The ASKO does not have this, and I am so glad I have gone back to the ASKO. This model is awesome with water and energy ratings, based on NORMAL usage to get the star rating. Most other brands may have a great looking Energy Star rating, but beware how they obtained this Energy Star rating. The ASKO bases their rating on NORMAL usage, as most other brands are based on ECO program usage. This model is also fantastic when it comes to how quiet it is. The final wash is also a lot softer and seems to get rid of the soap better than my Miele ever did. To look after you washing machine, do not use fabric softners, as these will leave a lot of gunk in your machine over time. Also use a liquid detergent, and only 1/4 of what the directions say, this will also pro-long the machine. Once a month, also give the machine a HOT wash, with nothing in there, to clean it out. I will always stick with ASKO from now on.

Love this machine but its missing some key features – This machine replaced an absolutely terrible Samsung unit. I have not had any significant issues with this Asko machine. It's quiet, has an attractive European design, great build quality and washes very well. My main disappointment with the machine relates to its lack of finishing chime for when a load has completed. Why on earth would Asko… Read more
develop a machine that has no alert to inform users when it has completed a wash? The corresponding heat pump drier I has a finished chime noise. To make matters worse the estimated cycle times displayed on the machine are inaccurate, it will often finish sooner than the display suggests which is infuriating. Am I missing something or does this machine simply not have an audible completed cycle alert?
So Far So Good – So far we have no issue with this front load machine. It cleans the clothes very well, but it did tear out some underwear. In term of noise, it is not loud and not quiet because I expect it generates some noise while it is spinning. One thing I like the machine is it does not have a rubber belt around the front door. I use to have another front load machines, the belt easily get dirty, and have some smell. Show details
So far all good – This machine has performed very well indeed. There are a variety of was cycles from very short to a 3 hour and 40 minute super wash and a programmable wash.. The machine is very quiet where it is situated in the laundry. I can only hear it is on when it spins the washing. The display has a glitch where it doesn't always display an accurate wash… Read more
time remaining . Asko gave a letter explaining the glitch. One would think they should have solved it before selling the machine. It is no noisier than my old Bosch. I bought the machine as my 5 year old Bosch machine broke it's spider, basically writing off the machine. Askos traditionally had a stainless spider, hence it should last a life time. I rang Asko prior to my purchase to find out if Asko still have stainless spiders, but no one in their technical department could tell me, or didn't want to say. The machines are no longer made in Sweden, instead they are made in Slovenia, as Asko was bought out. My first Asko lasted 17 years, before things went wrong. I'll be happy with 12 years forthis one

This was the biggest waist of money – I thought a had a good machine good wash and quite. Six months later, door would not open.Called Asko to repair. Problem fixed. Then water inlet fault light came on, now on spin dry the drum makes such a reckless noice that we need to go outside till it stops. I think it’s the centre point at the rear of drum must be out of its centrifugal point. I do not recommend this metal box.
Terrible Machine - steer clear! – Absolutely terrible machine, definitely not worth the money. Cant handle more than a couple of towels at once, otherwise it switches off with 'unbalanced machine' sensor tripped. I am also encountering the 'water inlet fault' warning on a regular basis, requiring me to clean the trap and drainage pump on a very regular basis (weekly). To do this I… Read more
have to drain the machine mid-wash! And since we have started using the machine, a lot of our clothes are getting small holes in them. I would NOT recommend ASKO or this machine.

Not worth the price tag! – I had an older Asko machine for years and was very happy. I sold this to my daughter and purchased this one thinking it would be as equally as good. Not so! I have had a few problems with the water inlet and water outlet. I had an electrician came out eventually to look at it. Still an issue. Eventually ASKO replaced the drain pump in the… Read more
machine. One would think that I would be happy to eventually have the machine working again, but No. I now have the problem of the agitator paddles not staying on. I have had clothes damaged because of this. I have ordered a new paddle, probably another couple of weeks before it arrives. Just today I have now has a second paddle come off. Really not happy with the performance of this machine.

Not worth the money – I hate this machine had a top loader before bought an Asko not even a year old had door replaced twice still have same problem wont shut or open. No wonder it was discontinued. Worst machine ever Show details
Asko - Not worth the Money – Having owned several Asko Dishwashers I decided to buy an Asko W6864 washing machine. I paid $1680 thinking I was buying a good quality machine that would last and would wash our clothes well. It washes alright although it takes a long time and is noisy. After a couple of years the front control panel developed a crack in the plastic so I rang… Read more
Asko and they came out and replaced the control panel at a cost of $250 which I accepted. The new control panel now has a crack in the same place so I rang them and they want me to pay another $250 to replace it again. I believe this is a design fault or they are using very thin cheap plastic. I will never buy another Asko appliance. I previously had Maytag washing machines and they were much better.
The issue with door failing to lock/open...rendered this machine not fit for purpose:- they have sin – When anything is introduced to a given market, it carries the brand with it! Should the necessary R&D been bypassed, the let downs to both Brand and Customer are widespread. The correct and 'only' acceptable recovery is to admit error and apologise to customers: 'Whilst repairs are effected'...not deny or avoid responsibility...as a victim I can… Read more
speak from experience...ASKO are avoiding responsibility yet the complaints pile-up...needless to say this machine has been discontinued! What form of compensation to the unlucky customers...none!
Vani (Customer Service) has either left the company or elects NOT to follow up.......
Not worth the money! – We've had an ASKO W6564 for just under 6 years. At the time of purchase, we were advised to buy this particular machine because, it was the best machine there was and would last us for 20 years Unfortunately, that store has now closed down, so we can't complain to them! Unless we stand there and hold the machine, when it's spinning, we are afraid… Read more
it will leap off the ASKO stand, on which it sits! We had a Fisher & Paykel top loader for 10 years, when we bought the ASKO, and it was still going but, we decided that we wanted to try a front loader! The worst mistake ever! Very, very disappointed and will now have to go and buy another machine, but, not an ASKO!
asko washing machine very disappointing and after sales asko service not so good either – asko washing machine Terrible Stopped working JUST out of 2 year warranty Asko not very helpful Thought at $1600consumers and gave us a loaner machine DONT BUY ASKO washing machines and most reviews are bad. It washed ok but no better than any other brand i have had It took too long, and was not good over all Show details
ASKO quality not what it used to be – I replaced my Asko front loader which had push button to operate wash setting, great door no rubber seel, all metal components and that old model lasted 15 years, coped with load after load of raising 2 boys! I thought I'd go with the same brand and bought a W6564 model. BIG disappointment, in the first year door was faulty and was replaced.… Read more
Technician commented that's common with this model. Now electronic wash settings not working, can reset, can't open door. Technician required again. Hate to think how much this will cost me once I'm out of warranty, Top price paid for not much value. NEVER again will I buy an ASKO.
Overpriced underperforming – Consistently had errror faults. Only had one cycle and would most times never complete a cycle properly Ended it all when it started to leak water Although it may state low water consumption it is.no use if it has errors and can’t complete cycles A high price for no performance. Will never buy an asko again Show details
Very unsatisfied – Machine does wash well. Good Guy staff told me it would wash a queen size quilt. That was false information. Unfortunately three months after purchase, Machine would turn off through cycle and door would not close properly, water also leaked from under machine. Technician replaced seal. Seal has gone. Very expensive labour wise to fix. I am left with an extremely noisy machine I cannot afford to fix. Asko after sale service offered to give me 50% discount on parts but the labour costs are the issue.
This machine was expensive and unfortunately was I naive to think I would get a better machine. I would not recommend this Asko washing.
The worst washing machine ever!!! – UPDATE ON THE ASKO I UNFORTUNATELLY STILL HAVE: DON'T EVER MAKE A MISTAKE OF BUYING AN ASKO!! It might say Asko on the front but it’s Gorenje quality – First machine had a faulty screen. It had a scroll in the display and nothing else. Returned and picked up replacement. 320km round trip. Stops mid cycle about every half dozen washes with an out of balance message. Currently stopping with pump out problem message about every third wash despite cleaning out the outlet. Probably another 320kms. … Read more
Door latch rattles on spin. Noisy.
Sloppy suspension made by Gorenje: printed on struts.
Might be worth rebranding these machines to avoid misleading customers.
Excellent service from retailer.
Third Asko, never again.
Not great for a he money spent! – The machine itself washes really well but I've had the Asko service guy come out 3 times to repair the machine. It's a very loud unit and the cycles are quite long. I regret buying the 6kg size as it's not big enough for our family of 4. If I was to purchase again I would probably not go Asko again. Show details

to close. ASKO repair man came out. Replaced door sensor.
Door intermittently not closing. ASKO repair man came out. Rubbed finger along rubber. Put machine on spin. We explained issues we were having to the repair man and explained what had been carried out by previous repair people. We told repair man that it would wash a number of times and then the door would play up. It was not happening every time but still happening. Repairman said he would write report and left.
We have contacted ASKO since last service visit. ASKO do not want to know about it. We continue to have issues with the door not closing.
If the door is not closed properly you cannot open the door. ASKO's instructions to open door is to put machine on spin and after that cycle you can open door. You cannot put machine on spin because the door is not closed properly. The only thing you can do is put some sort of force on the door, your choice. Sometimes turning the machine on and off may change the reading and will allow the programme to start.
I find the door also a design fault because the condensation on the door slides off the door onto the floor when door opens after wash.
The door design was a sales pitch when we purchased this machine. The door has and is still giving us major issues.
Delivery and installation were terrible. Asko had to come four times – I bought this from Winnings in Redfern. I took a day off work so it could be delivered and installed but they brought the wrong one. water that the previous technician had turned off. And why? They didn't have any plumbing tape. So I will have to take a fourth day off for them to come again. It's like dealing with the keystone cops. No idea about customer service. They just don't care about wasting your time.
I am so upset i bought this machine! – This is the worst machine ever! After use of only 2 DAYS First the door wouldn't open, used the emergency key and the handle broke off! Then the door won't shut again! And of course asko are unavailable, thanks asko Show details
Never buy one again – It washed ok, opening the door after you started was not as easy as stated and now 3years 10 months after buying I am told it will cost to much to repair we will give you a discount on a new No thank you never buy an Asko again thought I would get a little longer out of this machine Show details
So loud – I bought this machine for 2 reasons the no rubber seal so no mould and told that it was a very quiet machine. Since buying it I've had the technician look at it 3 times and on the spin cycle it sounds like a plane taking off in my laundry. I'm disappointed as it was one of the most expensive on the market. Problematic from the start – Bought this new in October. We had a rental property which had a really old Asko washer which was still running very well; which prompted us to get an Asko for our own home. That's where the good ends. On first run; we did a blank wash as per IOM recommendations, noticed that it was running quite noisily. Had a high pitched whirring/buzzing. … Read more
Once done; we loaded up as per the recommended distribution (or as best we can) to ensure the drum is balanced.
Every single time the spin cycle ran, a very loud buzzing/whirring can be heard.
We thought the bearings just needed to settle; so we let it slide for a few weeks.
Fast forward to date; these are the issues we have
- Loud buzzing/whirring when spinning, not sure if coming from motor, belt or bearing.
- Water inlet solenoid chatters in quick succession, opening and closing twice usually.
- Screen occasionally blanks out and returns.
- Leaked all over the floor (thank god we had a drain under the washer); but not sure source of leak.
Had Asko send a technician whom mentioned everything is normal. Loud operation is normal. Water inlet opening and closing very quickly is normal.
Also was told that the drive belt was "tacky"; apparently is normal as well.
Mentioned to me that the leak may have been from the detergent drawer, from over use of detergent. (we use 1/2 cap of Dynamo per 7-7.5kg wash)
My sister bought a Miele shortly after I did my Asko; and I have been seeing it operate. Problem free operation.
Just on that basis, I would recommend against ever getting an Asko washing machine.
The plus side?
Washes well.
My Asko Heat Pump dryer works a treat. Wish it would be the same with the washing machine.
Not a very happy Asko customer here.
Update* - Asko sent a technician to change a the drive belt. No difference. Buzz saw still going. … Read more (+1 reply)
ASKO W6864 - So Disappointed! – Would not recommend. I know it doesn't wash my clothes as well as previous front loaders I have had. careful when refilling the dispenser every time. Washing has become a frustrating excercise! Extremely disappointed with this front loader and would not recommend to anyone.
Happy most of the time, sometimes I just want to kick it – We bought this unit after months and months of looking and speaking to so many sales staff. We to get the unbalanced load now and then, usually with pillows, doona or just a simple 1 off item. For this we just hold the stop button for 10-20secs and the unit will reset. wish it luck.. We find our clothes are much cleaner and less damaged coming from a older styled top loader. We wash the detergent dispenser maybe once every 2-3 months to clean up the gunk left by softeners and the powders. Only use OMO if that helps both liquid sensitive and normal. It's a heavy unit, doesn't make much noise but it still noticeable in the early morning when you put a delayed start on. We've always left the door slightly ajar after a wash as we were told that helps air out the inside and save the seal from becoming damaged over time. FYI there is a little plastic key inside behind the detergent dispenser for emergency door opener, we've never had to use it. The lint filter if you call it that is down the bottom left.. Which reminds me I should check it.... well it was a little dirty and one tiny piece of copper from a cable, not bad for a sparky uniform washer. Overall happy just wish it would not take so long to wash at times, I feel that it take's a lot longer then I am used too and I just want to get all my washing done in a day which sometimes can't be done as the unit can take upto 3 hrs on the everyday cycle to actually finish a large load. We primarily use the Everyday cycle, Quick and Easy care. We do also however now and then do a 90 degree hot wash through some tea towels etc as a load balance to actually help clean out the build up in the pipes. Tried upload this review with a image for verification, was unable to handle my massive fileness.. :P
