Asko stopped supplying spare parts before the required EU 10 years, won't give phone instructions how to unlock door, only want to send a technician out even though they know they don't stock parts. Was not worth the premium considering the lack of support, am mainly writing this review to make sure people consider the lack of support. Show details

Rips clothing – This machine keeps putting holes in my finer clothes like t-shirts, fine jumpers. Every time I have contacted them they say I have "cockroaches" eating holes in my clothes!!! Seems like this was a great marketing story they all got told to say. Very disappointed given the cost of the machine. And I can't count the cost of the wrecked clothes!!! Don't buy it!!! Show details

Is it washed up? – Ah the Asko front loader. If ever a love hate relationship existed with a mechanical product this might be it. I want this machine to be great, I really do. Alas. It's a great machine. I purchased it because of recurring mould issues on rubber gaskets on another brand. It has a 10kg capacity, is easy to operate, offers great control over the… Read more

various programs, and is built like a tank, but...

A few months out of the 2 year warranty period, issues appeared. We had a 'wash motor failure' reading. Fortunately a call to the extra-friendly service department arranged a quick call-out and the issue was resolved...with no cost! Out of warranty...no cost! Asko gets 10 points.

A week after that, the door locking mechanism was malfunctioning. Again, the helpful service department arranged a visit, and again...no cost since these were not user wear and tear but manufacturing faults. 10 more points Asko.

But there's the problem. A 2500 dollar machine shouldn't have issues should it?

I hope that's the end of our issues and we can have a few years of great washing. It is a delight to use but I can't give it more than 3 stars. The Asko people get 5 stars though!

NOTE : I bumped it up to 4 Stars now because the machine is working great since repair.

Best of the Best – only Machine without a rubber seal on the door and that is the reason we purchased it. Quiet well modulated machine with ease of function and range of cycles. Good quality build, durable and fully functional. It washes all fabric types well and has appropriate cycles to match. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a high quality washing machine.  Show details

Rust issues - no customer service – In 2015 I was looking for an XXL washing machine, the seller recommended Asko W8844XL has the best of the best, indestructible he said, so we decided to put extra dollars over our budget and we got it. Does decent job, but nothing more then others brands. suddenly I realised that was extremely noisy, I have to keep my laundry door shut when is… Read more

on, to not mention the spinning, sounds like its going to take off about any minute. Anyway, the real problem: the indestructible machine made of special metal, started to rust, so I try to looking for customer care number, but doesn’t exist, you have to contact them via email, which I did, plus sent photos of the issues. Two weeks later still no response to my email, so I called an Asko random 1300 number, the operator didn’t give me any explanations why nobody respond to my email, also, when I said that machine warranty was expired, I just asked for someone to come to fix the rust, but the operator told me that was nothing he could do to help me, then he “goodbye me” and it was all. Definitely I will never recommend this brand to anyone.

Pathetic for Asko – Issues at about 12mths old and now leaks at 4yrs old. Towels come out “crunchy”. Easily out of balance washing a single thick wind cheater. Would not recommend Asko on this experience. Asko “customer service” little to offer but expensive service call and parts. Noisy too. Show details

Don't waste your money – I was very excited buying my Asko 10kg washing machine 6 years ago. Figured it would be a great long term investment, as family members have older versions that are nearly 20yrs old and still running perfectly. Was my dream washing machine! It worked perfectly fine for 5 yrs and was always treated well, never overloaded etc. Problems started… Read more

earlier this year when programs started to fail. Discovered it had a faulty circuit board, so we had that replaced. In the last few weeks I had noticed towels were becoming a problem during the spin cycle, even with only one or two amongst the wash. Last night I was giving a final spin on a small washing load, (including 2 towels) and suddenly there was a horrible loud grating/clattering sound and burning smell that startled everyone in the house. The drum bearing gave out. I am absolutely devastated and not going to get it repaired -is very expensive apparently. Why spend more money fixing it when something else might go wrong. I would not recommend anyone to buy this brand when it lasts no longer than other cheaper washing machines. Don't waste your money!!

Do not buy an ASKO washing machine – Had multiple problems with this washing machine. Split clear door and now close door error and replaced new switch wth technician recommendation and that’s not fixed the problem!! Out of pocket $177 for a part that wasn’t the problem. Machine coming up with “close the door” have replaced that and error is still there and reset the machine. Does not make any sound or pumping noise at all. Thoroughly disappointed with this overrated machine. Show details

Great features but product is a lemon – This product has some great features such as the temperature setting (0-90* in 10* intervals), no rubber seal for mould to grow, and good cycle options, however we have had numerous issues with the machine. Within the initial warranty period we had “wash motor failure”, a cracked detergent dispenser, and constant water inlet/water outlet faults.… Read more

Any time I ever stopped the cycle if I have forgotten to put an item in (within 10 seconds of the cycle starting) it will come up with water outlet fault when I try to restart the cycle. We did purchase the extended warranty but when we began having other faults (water pooling on the floor underneath the machine) the technician told me it was due to using too much detergent, and that I should only be using 1/3rd of what was recommended. We tried this, and were still getting faults (unbalanced, outlet/inlet faults, water leaking on the floor every cycle) however it was now out of warranty.

We have now had the machine 6.5 years and the last few months the drum has been making a horrible noise when it spins, and yesterday began having an electrical burning smell.

For a machine that cost over $2000 and was cited as lasting 20 years it has been a complete lemon and waste of money. We are taking it in to be looked at tomorrow but I guarantee we will end up purchasing a new machine as the cost of repair will be ridiculous.

Control board failure- cannot open door – I wish I read the reviews before purchasing this machine. I now cannot open the door as the relay that allows the door electromagnet to release has gone. Asko Top loader – Purchased this about 5 years ago, very disappointing, door latch constantly does not latch, now on spin it screeches, service guy says a number he has seen all have the same issue with "main drum bearing failing" quoted over $1200 to replace. Huge, robust machine but design needs improvement. Detergent separator is missing! – This washing machine washes well, clothes come out clean. Looks robust and heavy duty. I also think the first compartment and second compartment releases… Read more

the detergent at the same time, which means the pre-wash is using all the detergent and leaves nothing for the main wash. (As per observation) Also the softener in the compartment seems to be almost gone even when it’s stillI in washing mode and not rinsing yet. With the price, they could have done better. Once you press start, you cannot pause anymore. It drains everything and you have to start all over again.

Wished I replaced my Miele with Miele instead of Asko – I bought the larger version of the Asko new to reduce number of loads but this machine has real problems with towels and just refuses to spin regardless of whether I reduce number of towels or rearrange load. Asko is a disgrace – I purchased the Asko washing machine because it was a 10kg front loader and I have 3 small children. I have had this machine for 5 years and it has been nothing but… Read more

trouble and a continual fight to just get my consumer rights met. When you call Asko they try and avoid any responsibilty for their product not working and try to charge extortionate call out fees to discourage complaints. I only ever wanted a working machine and the only way I could get them to treat me like I wasn't a scammer and to meet their obligations as a retailer was to go to consumer affairs. That government department was amazing. Asko finally recognized that they had to fix the machine. I had 5 visits from an Asko repairman who could not find the fault and agreed that I probably had a lemon. He did change random things that he felt might help, like a door, some pipes etc but I continued to have problems. On the last visit , the water stopped leaking and when asked by consumer affairs if I wanted to push for a replacement I declined because I just wanted my machine to work and now it did. I am an honest person and I wasn't trying to scam a new machine and they'd fixed it, that was perfect. I just wanted it to work. In hindsight, I should have just pushed it. 3 months later, my machine started to leak again. I spoke to Asko and I wrote a letter requesting a replacement. Of course they knew the history of the machine as they had a file on it. They sent a tech guy out again and he couldn't find the fault (of course) and when I requested that they replace it, they stopped responding to my emails. Now the only avenue I have to get my machine to work, is to go to court. The biggest waste of $2500 on a machine that hasn't even lasted 5 years and Asko are a disgrace as to how they treat their legitimate customers. Do not waste your money and time dealing with this company.

Great washer, top price, just missing features – We replaced our old front load washer with this top of the line Asko. The 10 kg drum size swayed us to this one, dual water connections hot & cold also. Our previous washer only had cold connection. So I hope it will be more economical. It has a good star rating. it sticks out further, which is fine in our laundry.

It can fit king size blankets fine.

It washes really well, with all sorts of clothes.

The door lock feature is great as it unlocks immediately when you press stop.

Our previous washer had a 90 second delay.

The port hole handle is easy to open.

We also loved the fact there is no rubber around the door, as our old washer had as it caused a lot of grime.

This was annoying if in a hurry.

It is fairly quiet.

For the money I wished it had auto dosing, but it doesn’t.

The short wash is longer than our previous washer but you get more rinses.

The wash selector is easy to use.

I hope it lasts a long time for the pricing, 20 years I am hoping.

Good machine and good delivery service.

Another great Asko appliance – The previous Whirlpool WFE1210 suffered a pump failure after 5 years of hard work and because we had a positive experience with our Asko dishwasher, we decided to try this unit. Although it has a considerably smaller drum than the (identical 10kg capacity) Whirlpool, it handles everything we have thrown at it over the last 3 months with ease. … Read more

Everything comes out clean and fresh using the Costco liquid pods. It is way quieter than the Whirlpool was and noticeably quicker on almost every cycle. It takes up a lot less laundry space than the Whirlpool - a benefit of the smaller drum and is very water and energy efficient.

Given that we live in a country area, our closest retailer was a Good Guys store and their service was nothing short of appalling. The poor bloke who arrived (on his own) to install it, had (1) never installed one and made a complete hash of it to the point where he cross threaded the inlet pipes and (2) had to be helped by my wife to actually unload it. A fair ask for someone who has had two knee replacement.

In short. Great machine but give the Good Guys a wide berth.

Update Feb 2023: Not quite sure what happened but after a cycle had finished we found glass on the laundry floor and a dinner plate size hole in the front door. As the glass was outside the machine and scattered a reasonable distance and there was no water on the floor it must have happened during the spin cycle. There was only a small load in it - there were no loose objects to be found so the cause is a mystery. That said, the the part is reasonably priced and the total repair cost will be under $300.

nappies perfectly. Normal clothes are ok, they get washed, but i guess any machine would do that. Also not sure about water rating when you have to use extra water and rinses to get the same results as other machines.

ETA: After several washes we noticed that certain types of material comes out with holes in this. In particular soft textures such as viscose or machine washable wool. Goes into the machine fine, comes out with holes (one baby wool sleeping bag that has double layer of wool) came out with holes on the outside but not the inside. We will consider this a waste of 2K and go buy another machine instead.

is that we have had 2 warranty problems in less than 12 months (issue 1: door not closing easily and even after being closed, it was still leaking water. issue 2: machine was stopping half-way through the cycle). Both were fixed under warranty, but took a long time to get fixed. Spent almost $70 in laundromat fees, asked for a refund and was advised that Asko do not reimburse laundry costs even though the machine is under warranty. Simply not good enough for a premium brand. I also found the customer service disappointing - call key options are confusing, kept being put through different departments, no option to lodge warranty claim online, call operators sounded disinterested. I think Asko quality is just not there anymore hence $2400 for a washing machine becomes a rip-off.
