ATBuild WA did a renovation for me at property in Leeming. I am very happy with the outcome. The new doors that open out onto the alfresco area have really opened up the house. The job was completed in line with the schedule that they gave me at the start of the project. I would definitely recommend the company to others that are thinking of undertaking a renovation.

I have worked with the guys at ATBuild WA through my business. As they are a registered builder I engaged them to undertake a job for us, an extension to our property. They organised the council submissions and completed the building works within the agreed timeframes. The sub contractors that they used on the project were clean and easy to deal with. I am happy with the overall quality of the work. I was able to select my own fixtures and fittings as the project progressed. The cost of the job was inline with what I was quoted. I would recommend ATBuild WA to others that are considering an extension on their property.

Unfortunately I did not have a good experience with ATBuild WA 1. Insurance Work. ATBuild WA were appointed by my Insurer to complete repairs following a burst water pipe in my living room ceiling. These works took 11 months. There is a contracted lifetime warranty applied to these works. Six months after final completion of all works a large crack developed above my replaced bookcase. ATBuild WA accepted the defect but also would not make themselves available to repair the defect (Over six months).

After contacting my Insurance Broker, My Insurance company contacted ATBuild WA reminding them of their obligations to make themselves available at a suitable time to correct the defect. Approximately 1 month later ATBuild WA then corrected the defect with a total time at my property of 56 minutes across two days.

2. Ensuite Renovation (In parallel with insurance work)

During the demolition phase no effort was made to prevent dust entering my Walk in Robe alongside the Ensuite. This was after it specifically being discuss the day before and assurances where given that plastic sheeting would be used to cover the entrance to the WIR. This was not done. No apology was given and it took me several days to wash and iron all of my clothes plus a dry cleaning bill of $396.00. At the end of the Ensuite phase the builder lacked the necessary knowledge or skill to install a small corner shaving cabinet as agreed.

3. Kitchen, Dining, Hallway, Laundry, Rear Toilet renovation (In parallel with insurance work)

No dust suppression on demolition day. Monitored smoke alarms were activated and the fire brigade attended the property. 4 smoke alarms had to be replaced at my expense as they were damaged by dust as a result of this event.

A list of problems

New kitchen window was not orders to the correct size and was ordered to include a track for a sliding security screen yet the window manufacturer doesn't make such a product.

ATBuild WA didn't allow for the thickness of the floor tiles when designing the kitchen cabinets. Fridge cabinet needed to be modified. To remove the dishwasher for servicing will require my pantry to be dismantled for access as it its trapped under the stone bench and floor tiles were ground away so it would fit.

No significant progress occurred between April and October with the project about 80% completed but some of the kitchen was u useable during this time.

New floor tiles were scratched and gouged by trades completed painting and cabinetry work. After ATBuild WA were aware the floor tiles could be scratched and after ATBuild WA agreed to protect the floor, which subsequently was not done.

Plumbing - See my review of Oceania Plumbing and Gas.

Grouting. The tile grout in the Kitchen area started to fail after 6 months. eventually I was able to ascertain from the ATBuld WA that the product that had been supplied by them was not suitable and not to be used on floors as stated by the manufacturer on the grout packet instructions.

ATBuild WA accepted all defects but routinely did not make themselves available to correct the same defects. In the end, ATBuild WA suggested by email that I lodge a complaint with Building and Energy WA which I did in November 2024.

Building and Energy WA accepted my complaint against ATBuild WA and final recitation of defects was completed in February 2025.

If you are considering using ATBuild WA for building works I would recommend obtaining a reference from one of their former clients first.

I would be delighted to provide such a reference. Just contact ATBuild WA, refer to this review and they can arrange a time to meet at my property in Byford for a full tour of their work. If they refuse, you know they may be trying to hide something. They have my contact details and I will always make myself available for genuine reference enquiries with regard to this building firm so people can draw their own conclusions about the quality of their work, their attitude and their trustworthiness.
