The company was great when I moved to Tasmania, moving back to qld I was told 10/15 business days to have delivery. It’s been over a month and still no delivery and no contact and now I have nothing to live off. I have been living out of a suitcase for over a month and have no contact with them. Have emailed and called a number of times and no communication so I don’t know where my things are. I will never use them again.
UNPROFESSIONAL. I have emailed regarding the re-delivery ~3-4 weeks in advance including the condition of the driveway . Only to be told the day before (~3-4pm) our stuff arrives that the company's truck will not be able to come down the driveway. There was limited communication (have to ring multiple time and left messages to chase each… Read more
correspondence) and no further questions regarding my driveway until the afternoon before the delivery was scheduled.
I believe it is common sense as a removal company to know to check the driveway condition before delivery and notify the client well in advance so the client can consider an alternative solution. I was told that the stuff is already loaded on the truck ready to leave tomorrow morning and that the company will not offload it - forcing me and leaving me with no choice but to to go with their plan of leaving my belongings on top of the driveway and manually carry it down myself.
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICE.

A stressful and experience. Every box crushed – If I could give zero I would. How this business is still running is a mystery My partner had arranged to move our home contents from Brisbane to Hobart. He selected Atkins based on their website assurances of 100% satisfaction, professionalism and experience (60+ years in the industry). They were by no means the cheapest quote but we just wanted… Read more
a stress free move so he was prepared to pay a little extra.
We flew down to Qld a couple of days prior to the scheduled move as we had to bring some items from the Gold Coast. We hired a truck and packed all the items in the truck ready to meet the removalist at the storage shed where all the other items were to be picked up.
The day prior to pick up we had heard nothing from Atkins and were getting worried. We tried contacting them and finally received a call from their operations manager advising that someone would call later that afternoon with all the details. We heard nothing and received no call. At 4pm we received an email from their office stating that the 2nd payment was due and this was required prior to pickup. When we tried to ring the office we got an out of office message.
We were confused. Did this mean they weren't picking up our items? Surely, they would ring if this was the case? Surely, he wouldn't wait until just before he left the office to send this kind of message? Why hadn't someone called us to discuss pickup details as agreed?
We made calls to the operations Manager, the office number and even sent a note on their Facebook page but all messages said they were closed and would respond the next day. My partner has arranged to return the truck by 12pm the next day (or would incur additional charges) and had booked a flight home for that afternoon from the Gold Coast. We did not know if they were coming or not.
At this stage I was in tears. We were stressed out of our minds. We had heard of removalists not showing up but had never thought that would happen to us. I sent emails to 3 other removalists advising the situation and asking if they were available if Atkins did not show up. 2 of which responded immediately both with a lower quote but none available immediately.
Finally, around 6pm their operations manager called. He was extremely rude. He said there was an issue with getting a container and because it required cleaning he advised the pick up could not happen till around 2pm. When we told him that we had to return the truck and that my partner had a late afternoon flight booked from the Gold Coast. He berated us for flying back on the day of the move (my partner had already missed 3 days of work). As a solution suggested we meet the removalist at their office and unload the truck there instead. He couldn't provide any definitive details and said someone would call the next day at 5am. He also complained that he was at home and shouldn't have to be dealing with this in the evening. There was no explanation or apology for why nobody had contacted us.
We were drained and confused. The stress was too much for both of us to handle and this took us over the edge. The experience was completely opposite to what they advertise.
Next morning he received the call from the contractor. The narrative had changed again. This time he was told to meet at the storage shed as planned as they had a container. He didnt seem to be aware of any of the issues the Operations Manager had advised.
My partner had previously been in transport so when he arrived he offered to assist with the loading. He was told it was not necessary and he should go and return the truck. My partner said that he would like to get a box to protect the television and would be right back. The contractor said that it wasn't necessary he would ensure it was wrapped and packed properly. Based on these assurances he left to return the truck.
I was concerned after the appalling pick up that there would be issues with delivery. I called Atkins and spoke with Michelle explaining the situation and advising that I would make full payment the morning my items were delivered. I was under the impression that this was okayed until we received the following email soon after my call the night prior to delivery
"Quick email regarding payment as per the terms of the acceptance as signed by yourself please see attached. The goods will not be delivered unless the balance is paid"
I assumed that this was sent prior to my call but was advised by email but was advised by email that this was not the case. No phone call to discuss this with me.
I had no choice to make the payment. My items were delivered the next day as agreed. However, every box was crushed, the TV was smashed and broken. The following photos say everything there is about the packing.
They advised they would do a report and I would hear back from the office. 6 months later and still no call. I sent an email Scott Atkins last week and still no response.
Every box was crushed. TV was smashed. Damage in the $1000s. No apology, no explanation, no response.
Smashed, Trashed and Missing items is all I can say – Atkins were required to remove a large house full of furniture and pack. Items were thrown in boxes not packed. Boxes were written on with SHED [Content Removed], RUBBISH [Content Removed] (which was actually their rubbish which I paid storage on). Jewellery items removed from jewellery boxes and tossed in not one but 4 boxes, money stolen from… Read more

Lack of Care – We recently used Atkins to move from Launceston, Tasmania to Runaway Bay, Queensland. Whilst the customer service from the pick-up and delivery drivers was excellent, the other aspects of the transaction made it quite an unpleasant move. We did not know for certain how much space our belongings were going to take up, but ordered and paid for… Read more
10m3 before everything was picked up. We quickly learned and saw that we were not using the 10m3 we had already paid for but were hoping for a fast delivery nonetheless as we were told the very latest our belongings would arrive would be 18 days. Our belongings were picked up from our Launceston address on 25 May 2023 and were slowly delivered to our Runaway Bay address on 20 June 2023 – 26 days later.
We were very disappointed to see most of our boxes were damaged along the journey interstate, as pictured. The sheer amount of time spent for our belongings to arrive was disappointing enough, only to find out that they had also been damaged along the way was not good enough – considering the amount of money we spent for the space we used.
We should be able to expect that our belongings would be able to fit in the space allocated to us, and that we paid for, without being bent, torn apart and overall damaged. We since found out that only 8m3 was used for our belongings, regardless of the fact that we had already paid for 10m3.
We will never use Atkins again and will warn others of the same!
Fantastic Service – Great communication. Men were punctual, courteous, efficient and careful. I couldn’t speak more highly of the men who did our pick-up and drop off.
Daylight robbery – 0/5 if I can. Asked for day delivery as uplift as other removalists do, was quoted a couple hundred cheaper so went with them, approx 2.4k for a move of 240km on land within the state. Quotation confirmation slip have confirmed uplift and delivery date all signed and dated. Alao oir bankk details were on the form, which they didnt hesitate to read… Read more
carefully and take money from. On the day of uplift, they said delivery will be in 14 days. I am due to start work in 2 days! How can they he so irresponsible! They then asked for additional 880AUD for next day delivery, had no choice as all my items was uplifted as ransom. Daylight robvery! Ghosted subsequently after I tried to contact them want to remedy this situation. Very poor service conduct. Will not look to use them again. Can't be trusted. Have reported to authorities.
An absolute rip off… – We would never recommend this company (Atkins) They picked up our goods via a sub contractor and then rang us to say we owe more money The 20ft container was not even full They wouldn’t deliver our goods until we paid the extra money. Rang us two days before delivery to try and change day of delivery Rang on day of delivery to say they will be… Read more
late but the sub contractor they used again (prices removals - who were fantastic) were already here unloading.
There communication was poor during the whole process and they never actually touched our goods (worst $7,000 we ever spent) Good luck using this company
Made our interstate move easy – We relocated from Brisbane to NW Tasmania - 3 bedroom double storey house and 3 cars. We booked and dealt with Atkins via phone calls and emails. We couldn't fault them. Professional, helpful, and reasonably priced. Nothing got broken in our move and everything arrived within 3 weeks. We would definitely recommend them to anyone moving to Tasmania, or around Tasmania. Show details
AMAZING SERVICE – Atkins Removal have been exceptional. They are professional and so happy and helpful to work with. They went above and beyond what was expected offering to take an unwanted queen bed to a charity. It is wonderful to work with people who are from the "old school" - community minded and highly principled.
Disappointed – Atkins was to collect goods at a given time and date, from tenants (outside Tasmania); the sub-contractor that Atkins had engaged did not turn up, did not notify anyone, and did not apologise. As the missed relocation was just before Easter I did not know for over 4 days; I had assumed (wrongly) that silence was good news. We were advised via the… Read more
tenants.
We called Atkins to complain, whereupon they agreed to provide a full refund (which they did within 24 hours). Atkins were then apologetic, which I appreciated. Arranging a suitable time to unsuccesfully collect these goods required about 5 emails and phone calls (none of which was the fault of Atkins) but means our tenants are inconvenienced twice; once when the Atkins contractor failed to collect the goods and a second time when the replacement removalist we have since booked will do so (also requiring several emails and phone calls to arrange).
I have previously engaged to move contents Atkins three times, always without problem. It saddens me to write this, I do so in the hope it will lead to better service in future.
I would like to write a critical report about the sub-contractor who not only failed to turn up, but who also did not notify anyone, and who did not apologise, but I do not know their identity.
Faultless service – Atkins Removals at Rocherlea, Tasmania, moved a piano from St Leonards to Cornwall, Tasmania. All the contact with them was positive, they combined deliveries for a better rate, the collection and delivery was seamless, all the staff were courteous, efficient and a pleasure to deal with. Can't recommend this company highly enough.
5 Star Service – The Team at Atkins Removals from the office staff to the actual guys that loaded all our possessions were first rate we had to alter our itinerary about 4 Times and it was not a hassle for them.

House move to storage – Hi Dean and Scott Can't say enough about you and the boys that moved me out of Summerhill to storage. Your company is most obliging, careful, friendly and thorough. Oh and mustn't forget sense of humour by all! Will see you all again in 12 months when you move me to Swan Bay. Can't thank you enough.
House Move – Atkins Removals moved me from Launceston to Swan Bay What we thought would be a simple and straightforward move, in the end was challenging, with access on the day proving difficult and placement of furniture upstairs near impossible The men worked hard to problem solve both these unforeseen events and didn't complain once I am very grateful and would recommend them to family and friends
Launceston to East Branxton. Deceased estate – I would recommend this company. They were very helpful, even though they were a day late picking up, but they telephoned us to let us know what was happening. The delivery this end was great, the truckies phoned us at 8.30pm, could they deliver in about an hour, and they did, a day early. The good were wrapped very carefully and everything was handled with care.
Move from tassie to perth october 2016 – We have used five times in the past 6 years for family and friends and recently for our move to perh wa i cannot recommend them highly enough its a big move from one side of Australia to the other it took 5 weeks for our container to arrive but we were told in advance and for such a distance we were expecting tthat sort of time frame all our… Read more

Melbourne to Launceston in 3 days Excellent service – Got a couple of different quotes from many different removalists for our move from Melbourne to Launceston. Eventually chose Atkins removals mainly due to being the fastest quote (4-5 days) and one of the cheapest. The larger companies were around 1K more expensive and quoted 10 days / 2-3 weeks. E.g. [name removed] would ship our stuff to [name… Read more
removed] and then truck it up to Launceston, not very time efficient. So we decided to risk it with a smaller, cheaper option in Atkins. They are a local Launceston company who used John Ryan's removals for the Melbourne pickup. They arrived on time early in the morning, packed everything within an hour (we self packed our boxes) and took good care with all of our furniture and appliances.
2 days after the pickup I got a phone call that it had arrived in Devonport, and it was all delivered the next morning on day 3. Incredibly fast, we couldn't have been happier. Everything arrived without damage or any issues. Even my dodgy self packed wine glasses all made it in one piece.
Would highly recommend Atkins for anyone unsure who to use for an interstate move to Tassie.
Over 10 weeks - Tassie to Perth – I would not recommend this company to anyone. Upon quote of delivery it was estimated a transit time of approximately 4 weeks. After 10 weeks, multiple phone calls of which half where not returned, my belongings finally turned up after 10 weeks transit. They just kept telling me it should be a week or so away. Would never tell me the location of… Read more
my belongings.
Upon confronting the company they told me that it was my own fault for not obtaining the original estimated time on delivery 'in writing'.
Extremely unprofessional company that took no responsibility for the serious amount of inconvenience this caused me. I would think twice before using this company.
The Best Moving Experience Yet – After over 20 moves in our lives this has been the best move we have had. Personal service with care and attention throughout by all the staff. Amazingly only one small insignificant pot broken out of our large inventory. First time that has happened. They went to extraordinary lengths. Highly recommended.
